Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Since my daughter will be in middle school at the time, the only May date I could do is the 31st. No way to do September at all.

We understand. Working around Katie's summer schedule is a challenge. We hope school gets out on the 26th or 27th, Youth Symphony plays back up to a large 4th of July outdoor concert, followed immediately by Texas Tech University orchestra camp, then working at the National Ranching Heritage Center youth camp, etc, etc, etc.

When we started looking at when to try and book Alaska I googled "best time to cruise Alaska" and that is where I got the September and late May/early June dates. Others on the DIS have said they like to cruise Alaska more in the middle of the summer.

All this, but mainly Katie's schedule, drove us to the conclusion that the May 31st sailing to Alaska was the best choice for us.

Hi all,
We just signed up for the Baltics cruise and are very excited! This will be our 7th DCL voyage, including the Mediterranean in 2007. Also - we just got back from Alaska in August on NCL - just too impatient I guess. We hit the ports of Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, so if I can answer any questions, fire away.
See you all in Dover !

I agree. It would be better if the tiers were based on number of cruise-nights, rather than raw number of cruises.

No,I don't agree with that. I am sure it was debated both ways, and this was how they chose to do it. It's too complicated to try to compute # of nights cruised. After all, those who have travelled to Disney to cruise have put a lot of effort into their travels, and usually have spent time at WDW either before or after.

I think it's very nice that they make a consideration for # of cruises. Connie

Hi everyone!!! It's a hot day here at Castaway Cay. Had a cabana massage this morning, ate lunch and then came back to the ship to cool off.

Looks like we'll be joining you most of you on the May 3 Alaska sailing. We booked a dummy date to transfer Monday morning. Going to be trying for another Cat. 2 on that sailing. The Cat. 2 on this cruise has been incredible. If I don't get it, we'll book a different date and probably waitlist for May 3. Hopefully our good luck will continue to follow us home, we won at every session of bingo except for the last one and dad won the onboard credit for rebooking a cruise, so we've had some incredible luck this week.

Talk to everyone later this weekend. We'll be flying back home tomorrow afternoon.

Hey Guys!!

I am glad to hear that all of you are planning Alaska. Is anyone planning late July?

Emily--you should pick up a few lottery tickets too!!!

Okay everybody, get this, my son who will be 18 for the B2B2B I have planned for next summer, is thinking about not going because he will miss a three day concert called Bonnaro. (aka Hillbilly Wookstock!) So he may not go to Europe because of Bonnaro. What?:lmao:

It's one of the frustrations of parenthood to watch our children make choices, isn't out? Our older daughter (now 23) drove halfway across the country to go to Bonnaroo a few years ago. I think they slept in the car and didn't take a shower for days. I would much rather be in a verandah stateroom myself.

I am saying goodbye to this thread, we decided to move our Baltic deposit to the Alaskan first sailing. The cost just did us in. So :sad2: until the Alaskan thread comes up:goodvibes. Glad to see I will meet some of you again on that one.

Emily - I agree - we were spoiled by the Cat. 2 on our last cruise. It was wonderful.

There's only 3 of us for the Baltic so the Cat. 3 will be fine. Lauren will miss being able to order from Palo, though. We have a Cat. 1 for the wedding cruise and I'm sure that we'll be spoiled even more....

Virgil, there's 3 other adults, plus myself when we cruise. We've had a Cat. 3 twice before and it's just been a little tight for us, plus the sofa bed isn't very comfortable so two beds is a much better option for us.

That Cat. 1 will be very special. Congrats on your upcoming wedding, what a way to celebrate. We saw a wedding on the Magic last week and I said we need to do our vow renewal there.

We are Also going on the May 3 Alaska!

:goodvibes

Hopefully we'll be joining you Peter!!!!

My daughter was engaged on the Magic Mexican Riviera cruise last year. They decided on getting married on the Wonder in 2010.... Not sure how I'm paying for both cruises....

Here's their engagement video - it was pretty cool... Kristin's engagement
