Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Hey all, wow, down to single months now! Probably going to go faster than I realize!

If I want to request the server we had on our last cruise (Nov 2008) should we contact our person at MouseEars Travel, or can we do it ourselves? She was great. Her assistant wasn't as great, but we loved her!

Has DCL posed any of the excursions yet for our cruise? Or are you all just doing excursions on your own? I am VERY nervous about booking our own trips with 2 little children.

Any word of anyone being upgraded? If we were, we'd go from an outside to a verandah room. Just wondering if anyone has heard!

I think I asked before, but is there an FE plan yet?

See ya all real soon!

I think if you are booked through a travel agent, the agent has to make requests like that. A lot of times DCL won't talk to you about your ressie if you're booked through a TA.

Upgrades probably won't happen this early on. I think it's normally pretty close to the cruise before they start doing upgrades and assigning GTY rooms.

My guess is that the better upgrades may be available at teh port when you check in. They will cost but not too bad if ya really want one.

We are on the July 6 Baltic and I am hoping you folks will be able to post and let us know how the upgrades at the Port were. There were none available on our Med Cruise in 2007 so no experience there. We are hoping there may be some for our Baltic though. Wonder if they will charge in British Pounds? eek...hope not.

Scott and I have separate credit card accounts, and that is handy on trips. One time in Grand Cayman, American Express decided not to honor Scott's card, but he had a Visa, and I had an American Express and a Visa, so trip went on as planned. Since then we have notified the credit card companies when we were leaving the country, although American Express said it was no longer necessary when we called before our cruise this time.
Have a great day all!
I never thought about separate credit card accounts, that's actually a good idea. We always call the credit card company before travelling to let them know our charges will be out of the country. Connie

Good Morning Cruisers!

Scott and I spent the whole day yesterday planning our pre-cruise travel - we made plane reservations - it is a whole lot cheaper to fly around europe than to take the train - so our plan of traveling by train is out the window! We found a hotel in Normandy, rented a car for Normandy, plane reservation for Paris to Barcelona. We still have to get London hotel pre cruise - we are waiting for DVC contracts to be signed to get one on points, and figure out how to get from ship in Dover back to London, and get ourselves from London to Paris at the beginning of our trip. It took all day, but we feel pretty organized on the pre travel plans! It was too hot to go outside yesterday anyway!

We got a good upgrade at the port on the first Transatlantic, I think $150 to go from cat 7 to cat 4. We have never gotten a free upgrade - but we have always cruised in a cat 7 or above, the upgrades seem to go to the cat 12 folks. When I called about rebooking with repeat cruiser discount, the DVC person told me everything was in "guarentee" status right now, which means they are not assigning room assignments (which is why we did not rebook - did not want to lose the secret porthole stateroom).

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Cruisers!

I ordered a bunch of books from Amazon on Normandy (one of our pre-cruise destinations) yesterday, looking forward to seeing them when they come in tomorrow!

Have a great day all!

Lynn: Normandy is absolutely amazing! You will need to allocate an entire day to see it all as there are several different locations you should visit. Any chance you will be there on June 6th? If so, you are in for a truly special treat.

Being the History guy we have 3-4 days planned for that area... :thumbsup2

I think it will be very emotional for me, I don't see how it would not.

"In great deeds something abides. On great fields something stays. Forms change and pass; bodies disappear; but spirits linger, to consecrate ground for the vision-place of souls. And reverent men and women from afar, and generations that know us not and that we know not of, heart-drawn to see where and by whom great things were suffered and done for them, shall come to this deathless field, to ponder and dream; and lo! the shadow of a mighty presence shall wrap them in its bosom, and the power of the vision pass into their souls. This is the great reward of service. To live, far out and on, in the life of others; this is the mystery of the Christ,-to give life's best for such high sake that it shall be found again unto life eternal."

Normandy will be great - I would definitely think a good few days to do it justice, I havne't been since I was a child but there are some fantastic museums etc.

Looking forward to DCL showing more details about excursions etc but when I just took a look today the whole layout of the site seems to be changing - when did that happen?! Hopefully they'll be filling in some of the blanks soon :-)

They redid the site a few weeks ago and it slowed it down worse than ever. I don't like it at all. It looks good, but the speed is snails pace.

I'm looking forward to seeing excursions too, but I think it will be later this fall. Closer to when the EB TA cruisers can start making ressies is when the shore excursions will show up I'm guessing.

Good Morning Cruisers!

Jeanne - I see that Scott answered half your question - as to the other half, by June 6th we will be on the Magic, so we will miss the anniversary by about a week.

We planned about 3 days in London, 4 days in Normandy, and 3 days in Barcelona before the cruise out of Barcelona.

Have a great day all!

Have a great time in Hawaii!!!! It's definitely on my list of places to go one day.

Two weeks from Saturday we'll be sailing away on the Magic to Tortola, barring any weather interruptions of course.:lmao: I'm definitely ready to go.

I know that no one has a perfect life. I think that you are getting close. Hawaii in two days, off to the pool, sounds pretty cool.

Good Morning Cruisers!

Gydell - have fun in Hawaii!

Our books on Normandy came yesterday - Scott jumped right into them - I am still working on the Peru trip, after Peru, I will get more excited on Europe next year.

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Cruisers!

Cool and raining here today! Looks like we might spend the day indoors.

Have a great day all!

What Lynn Says,

Connie sounds interesting. We will get the tour as we arrive from Barcelona. At least that is what I hope.

Got up at 5 this morning to make all of our ADR's for our trip in Nov./Dec. The online system actually surprised me, it worked out better than I thought it would. I had all of our ressies, except for 3 dad was calling in an hour later, booked in a little over 30 minutes. Dad on the other hand was on the phone for over an hour for 3 meal ressies and two tours. So we're all set for our WDW trip except for airfare which keeps going up exponentially.

Less than two weeks until our cruise on the Magic to Tortola!!!! Got packing to figure out and finals to do in between. So ready for vacation.
