Mmears, I’m just now seeing this. Sorry!
YC was perfect for us for several reasons. It was my twins’ graduation trip, so kind of special. It was so much cheaper than DCL non-concierge it felt like a steal. Lol We definitely could have done non-concierge for crazy cheap compared to DCL, but I’m glad we didn’t. We’re a family of introverts and the MSC ship is constructed to funnel everyone together thru all the lounges, etc. it was overwhelming. The YC has a large and usually empty lounge that was an oasis of peace. We sat there a lot and played board games at night. The food was definitely better in the dedicated YC restaurant. We ate the general buffet once. Blah.
The general spaces were fine, and the many pools were very nice. If you don’t mind people and food is not a huge issue for you, and you don’t need the DCL experience to see a port intensive cruise (in fact we had no sea days)you could save a HUGE amount going non-concierge on MSC compared to DCL.
