Hi,

Just booked a last(ish) minute trip on the Disney Dream for the Northern Europe cruise on 3rd September for 7 nights visiting Belgium, Denmark, Norway.

How do I find out if fireworks are on this cruise? It didn’t mention anything about them not being but have now seen posts saying they wouldn’t be on ‘select’ European cruises.

It also advertises Pirates Night in our App, but I found a post online saying this is replaced with a Frozen night on European cruises. How do I find out which is correct?

Thanks for any help

I'm guessing you will not have a pirate night. We are on the 8/19 Norway (and Netherlands ) cruise and do not have a pirate or frozen night, but probably the frozen menu and the new color block dance party on deck.

The cruises going to Spain or France are having a pirate night/fireworks. It's definitely a location thing, no fireworks on Northern Europe and Alaska cruises, probably for environmental/noise reasons

And ours advertises pirate night as well. .they haven't changed the app for the Dreams Europe visit.

That’s a shame.

I know they advertise ‘everything subject to change’ etc, but a bit cruel to have huge pictures of the fireworks on the listings for these cruises, and ‘Prepare for your pirate night’ in the App when they have no intention of doing either.

It doesn’t take much to just put a warning like ‘No Fireworks/theme nights on this cruise’ on the listing instead

May 24th we had this email about no fireworks on our 8)19 cruise:
"We are so excited that you will be sailing with us during our Silver Anniversary at Sea. To commemorate our anniversary, we invite you partake in new offerings this summer. You will be able to meet favorite Disney Characters dressed in new, shimmering outfits created just for the anniversary. Plus, you can enjoy festive décor, limited-time food and beverage and special photo opportunities. And don’t forget to join some of your favorite Disney friends and the ship’s Captain and Cruise Director for a special anniversary toast. Due to the speed and location of the ship, fireworks are not offered on select European cruises including this sailing. Please be sure to check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator mobile app once onboard for all shows, activities, and times. Sincerely, The Cast and CrewDisney Cruise Line"

We received this same message (on the same date) about our September 3 cruise. My family was guessing there wouldn’t be fireworks because of late sunset times, but it could also be due to proximity to shore and environment/noise issues.

As far as I can tell, the informational pages in the DCL App vary by ship but not by itinerary and all cruises mention Pirate Night. Once activity booking opened, I checked Bibbiti Bobbiti Boutique appointments and noticed there were no Pirate makeovers listed.

We just got off the Dream (10-night France/Iceland/Norway). Instead of Pirate or Frozen we had a new show called "Mickey's Color Spin Dance Party"

Thanks for the update! I hope you had a great cruise :-). Did you have a special menu the night of the new deck party? Just wondering if they have something new to replace the Pirate Night/Frozen Night menu. Thanks!

We did not. Our rotation was E/R/A/E/R/A/E/R/R/A. The double Royal Palace was the Frozen menu (which we had the night we were in Alesund, Norway). The second and third night in each restaurant was a different rotational unique to that restaurant (Prince and Princess, Around the World, Captain's Gala, etc.)

Thank you! I guess that means the seven-night cruises will get the Frozen menu one night, but without the Freezing the Night Away deck party. Good to know!

Also just to say, the best way to confirm there isn't a pirate night is to look in the onboard activities once you can book them. If the pirate makeover isn't shown there is no pirate night. Unfortunately Northern Europe has different rules and therefore has never been able to have fireworks at sea. They created the Freezing the Night Away party to provide an alternative which has this summer become the Colour Party.

How was Mickey's Color Spin Dance Party? I was not a fan of Freezing the Night Away so am looking forward to something new on our Northern Europe and Norwegian Fjords cruise in September. I haven't seen many details about the Color Spin thing.

Boring. I think I wasn't the target audience though because my 15 year old thought it was great. It was basically the dancers all in multi-colored track suits. They would "spin" the color wheel, a color would pop up and each color represented a character (Mickey, Donald, etc.) and that character would come up and they would play a song and dance to that song. They were Disney songs redone in sort of a late 80's to early 90's pop vibe (there was one in a sort of 90's hip hop take) and they were going for sort of a retro 80's and 90's feel. Everyone lost their mind when they played the theme for "World of Color" and that Max was there alongside Goofy. It didn't do it for me, though, despite growing up in the 80's/early 90's. I might have gone in with higher expectations though since they hyped it up so much ini the days leading up to it. Mickey had on a super cute outfit I'd not seen before. I wish I'd gotten a picture. He had a sort of sparkly black jacket that looked like it had a hoodie underneath and red pants.

Thanks for the info. If we have nothing else going on, maybe we'll check it out, but we won't worry if we miss it.
