"Northern" Dis'ers...please take this poll

OK, this is going to sound nuts but here goes...I work in a cubicle and last week the man that sits on the other side of my wall took his shoes off and I smelled his feet. He said no way...he normally wears the same pair of socks all week and he had showered and changed his socks that morning. Then he goes on to tell us he bathes every 2nd day in the summer and every 3rd day in the winter. We all said that's gross, but he insists that is the norm up north, and he basically dared me to ask ya'll so here goes...

Hmm, how far up north are you looking for?? I'm definately north of Louisiana but not as far north as others.

Anyway, I don't care where I lived. I shower at least once a day -- a lot of times more -- especially in the summer or if I'm going out some place. Sometimes I drive my DH crazy because I'll shower twice in a day. With the exception of my DS3 who can skip a bath everyday in the winter months (but not in the summer), we all shower at least once a day (DH, DS8 and myself).

I would not be pleased to be smelling someone elses stinky feet. And, we all wear fresh socks everyday (after showering, of course).

Usually once a day however if Im in my pool(like I just was) or going out someplace at night, I will definitely take another shower and redo my hair and makeup.

Although I do know some people who don't shower everyday, that isn't the norm (my inlaws think I'm crazy to shower every day - but I don't consider them normal!). Not changing your underwear and socks daily is just plain bad hygiene wherever you live!

My mom thinks I'm nuts because I will only wear an item of clothing one day (bra, jeans, shirt, underwear, socks), and shoes for only one season.

Same for my kids. Shower and new socks EVERY day!

I was born in Ohio but have lived in Maine most my life.
DH, DD, and DS are all MAINIACS........and we shower daily.

Although sometimes my DS11 trys to sneak out of it....but I think that's a common 11 yr old boy thing and not related to geographic location.

Hey you mister....I live in the Pocono Mountains, where it's colder than everywhere else, and I still shower everyday!

My husband showers in the mornings everyday and bathes at night every night too.

I shower every day! However, I do know people that swear I am crazy and that you should shower every other day or every third day to prevent the oils from drying your skin. They say it's not natural to bath once a day.

Personally, if I do not take a shower, I feel filmy. Also, my hair is thick and curly, so it needs to be washed and managed.

He should change his socks every day. Who brought this guy up, and why didn't he learn good clean hygiene?

Everyday here. But, I have to ask, how old is this gentleman? My dad is 60. When he was growing up, they only bathed a few times a week...but ALWAYS on Saturday night since church was the next day. He used to FREAK OUT when I was living with them. It drove him nuts for me to shower everyday. And, if I didn't wear a pair of jeans for more than one day, I also heard about it. He still tends to wear the same clothes for a couple of days (new socks and underthings though). I guess when you grow up a certain way, it kind of sticks.

Almost everyday. If I don't have weekend plans I'll skip Saturday or Sunday. Hot, sticky summers require two showers a day.

DD still bathes every other day, but I'm trying to encourage her to do it more often as she heads in to puberty.

DH used to be in the group that bathes less frequently. His grandparents had a farm and he wasn't brought-up with the daily shower routine.

DH and I bathe everyday-he sometimes twice a day.
Ds bathes every other unless it's a heavy sports day and
then-every day. New underwear, socks and clothes for us
everyday, sometimes twice a day. We all have several pairs
of shoes and no one wears the same shoes two days in a
row unless they are sandals-let those shoes breathe!
Not changing socks daily creeps me out-the smell and the
bacteria-ooooooo!
My mom who has very dry skin, takes a sink bath every other
day but does wash. she calls it a 'french bath" - who knows.
We are in Ohio and I know nothing of your pal's northern tradition.

That is just gross! I think that his supervisor should be informed and let them deal with it.
I wouldn't think to go into work without showering or with dirty clothes.
