I think this is gonna be the best shindig yet!
Theres quite a crowd arriving on the Friday so were looking forward to a good old natter before the main even proper
We thought it best to leave Satdy afty loose to allow folk to arrive at different times and give everyone the chance to visit The Metro Centre for Chrimbo shoppin or just soak up the pre-festive atmosphere. The fact that me and the kids are at the match is nowt to do with it !
We thought if everyone does their own thing (feel free to arrange to meet in the Metro Centre for drinks/coffee etc) and feed themselves (theres a varied menu available at MC) before returnin to the hotel, it would make life easier for all concerned. Well be runnin Asdas best American Hot Dogs all night for them that get peckish.
Plan is for us all to convene in the function room at HIE for 6pm the room can be opened earlier if yer home sooner. Well have drinks and chats and have quizzes planned to break-up the evening Astrids got one of her specialty quizzes (toys, I think) and a music quiz, Nigel, Gail and Jonny have provided a general Orlando quiz (and will be sadly missed in person(s)) and V and Julie are providing a Where in the World quiz (but havent started yet!).
Ive got the lend of a mates Karaoke system for the weekend so a little sing songs planned for around 11ish. The best way to avoid me rendition of I cant help fallin in love with you and The green, green grass of home is to get up yerselves or go to bed!
The dispersal to all corners of UK on Sunday morning is a bit varied, so if we do anything on Sunday itll be agreed amongst us on Friday/Satdy. If anyone wants to go to The Quayside for the market and to see The Millennium Bridge, Im sure we can arrange an appropriate shuttle of cars.
We (The Committee) will be havin our traditional Sunday Night Currry at The Brasserie, Ocean Road, South Shields coz were sad and its tradition! If yer in the neighbourhood, yer welcome to join us.
The HIE has kindly allowed us to bring in our own food and drinks for the Saturday so Ill be doin a beer, pop and crisps run for anyone that wants it on the Satdy morning. (Mail me yer order and Ill get it for yers) The hotel has an all-day bar but its typically hotel priced. They do a very nice deal on refillable tea/coffee for them thats interested (£1.50, last year).
So thats it, except to wish yers all a safe journey to the frozen North. Theres still room for any that want to join us and any locals that want to pop in just for the Satdy night (or Sunday curry) are more than welcome.
