North To Alaska--May 3, 2011 on the Disney Wonder

I would never assume the lanyard duties if someone else would like to do it. I figured there was plenty of time to work it out.

Ken

KEN!!! You are the original Lanyard Man!! You are HAVE to do it..... :lmao::lmao: I would be happy to help somehow but you know the ropes SOOOOOOO well! :thumbsup2

Here's a crazy idea... start another thread for B2B Cruisers??? :scared1:

I'll help with Deb... COME ON DEB! DO BOTH! USE POINTS OR SOMETHING!

Someone asked earlier about points... we are in 5522 SPH.. which is now Catagory 10A... total of 590 points for both cruises for 2 Adults. I believe the breakdown was 396 (198pp) for 1st AK and 194 (97pp) for the Repo.
I booked with DCL first and then called DVC on Wednesday to convert. If I had known the points beforehand I would have booked a Cat 7 with points.. (quoted 890 for both cruises 2 people) but none of the Cat 7 rooms that I like were available when I did my conversion.
:sad2: I believe SCOTT got one :thumbsup2 No worries as we're happy with the SPH room!

Hey Woody,

I know Shannon and I are definitely going to be booking the repo to Vancouver. The second leg up to Vancouver, however is the questionable one. Not sure we can swing the $2400 USD (2 adults, 2 kids) in deposit . . .
Hi Ken,

The $600 deposit pp for Alaska is brutal. Especially when just last week when we were on the Magic, the deposit was $125 for a 7-night cruise.

I hope it all works out for you.

Woody

Cat 7 Nav Veranda Room #5640 was available for both cruises yesterday afternoon... almost booked it,

BUT need $$$ for excursions! Hey! Need $$$ period! :rotfl2:

We all need $$$. I'm seriously considering the B2B now. I've just got to get the rest of the family onboard with the idea. I even put a room on hold already, see I did all of the work, they just have to say sure why not.:lmao:

Can those of you who booked on DVC points please share what category, how many adults/kids and how many points. I'd love to plan a little before 5 AM Monday :surfweb:

I booked a 7A for the Alaskan with our DVC points this am. We only have adults so I didn't get any kids prices.

For May 3

7A 290 pt each adult or $2033

9A 249 pts ea or $1743

11A 173 pts or $1213

The May 3 had higher point costs than the 5/10 or 5/17. A 7A there was 273 pts or $1913. Prices went up for the 5/31 to the 290 pts for the 7A.

During the summer the prices were 346 pts for a 7A.

I had a hard time getting a 7 to match the one that I had on deck 7 already for the repo.

All the 7s on deck 7 are booked, 1 cabin now left on deck 6 and they had about 9 7s on deck 5.

For 6As, they are only booking GTY status.

Since DVC opened an hour later than DCL this morning, I called DCL and placed a courtesy hold on the Alaskan room and moved my repo room to be the same room as the Alaskan. It made the DVC portion really easy to get booked then.

Hope this helped.

(nudge, nudge, nudge .... go on Emily ... you know the B2B is calling to you)

My family and I are joining in on the fun. We are booked in 7572/7574. My husband, Tom and I are in 7572 and my mom(Joan) and my aunt (Norine) are in 7574. We have late dining. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone over the next 500+ days.

Ian, I've got 3 of the 4 in on the idea, but it's the 4th one that counts the most and that's Dad b/c it's his yes or no that is the sticking one. I've got the room on hold, nabbed a biggie too, the Walt Disney suite. Yes, it was still available!!! Now I just need our waitlist for this one to come through to complete the trip. It'd be awesome to have the Cat. 1 for the B2B.

Just out of curiosity, can a cash booking be converted to a points booking?

Would it help if I let him wear one of our fezzes?

I'm thinking the $2033 for cat 7A is per person, right?
And if so- the prices have gone up considerably since Monday (based on what I was quoted that the prices were at that time for 2ppl in cat 7A)
:(

I LOVE that we have a variety of groups onboard that have previously sailed together....like the Thieves and the Tortolians....who else do we have? I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.;)
We've only been on 3 cruises so far..... the first double dip (aka Blabbermouths), a PC cruise (with Captain Jack aka Pirates) and then the bargain spur of the moment one in May (aka Disney Cruisin' Budgeteers) -I'm not sure if anyone else from any of these cruises are on this thread... atleast not yet? LOL

So far, based on the info received from the folks on the LA/Vancouver Repo Thread we have...

21 Staterooms ~ 19 B2Bers!!!
That's a Whopping 90% :yay:
I have a feeling this will be one of the first times DCL has the majority of their cruisers staying on for the next cruise...
Wow that is impressive!

Do you think the percentage will change next week when bookings open up to all?

Woody
Probably...... maybe? maybe not? :lmao: We'll see. Never know. Maybe a good percentage of silver members will want to do the repo and the Alaska (ps. we're silver members and we want to do both LOL)

Probably to be more accurate- a good % of DISers are gonna want to do both- in comparison to a lower avg of non-DISers wanting to do both. maybe.
LOL

You can go for proper high tea at the Empress: :surfweb:
Sounds like fun!

Georgie, Am i on the B2B list?

Many people said you'd WANT to get off the ship while at Vancouver if doing the B2B- so now I'm torn... stay on the ship (or atleast get back on it quickly) for the first time ever, or get off.
Well if we get off- how long can we stay off the ship? What times can we leave? I mean is it either leave early or stay on the entire time? If you get off- you have to go thru all the same procedure as everyone else to get back on, right? So you'd have to take all your paperwork off the ship with you? *confused* but you're all probably right- what's the point of going to Vancouver for the first time ever and staying on the ship! LOL

I think that everyone has to get off the ship.
I seem to remember reading that you have to stay off for about an hour.
My assumption is that the Wonder would issue new KTTW cards before you left, then you would only have to check-in at the entrance.

Looks like the all aboard is 3, so I think you will need to be back by then.

OK Jenn just told me that she would like to do the first cruise of the new ship!
When will this Be/ Guess?

what will it be?

and we may have to skip the repo to do the Other?

Peter

Capt. Tom said last week that she's due to sail in Jan. 2011.

I have heard in SOME cases people didn't have to get off- although I imagine that's probably more likely when returning to Port Canaveral therefore starting both cruises there... totally different leaving from Vancouver.

However, in all the cases I've read about people who stay B2B I've never heard of having to "stay off" for about an hour. All I've read is that they have to get off (before anyone else is there at the port for the next cruise, yet not having to leave when everyone else did... like they can leave last from all the cruisers getting off that aren't returning/not doing B2B) and basically checking back in and allowed back in pretty quickly- long before anyone new cruisers are checked in and allowed onboard.

IDK why they'd need to reissue new KTTW cards unless you were changing rooms? If you had the same rooms, that wouldn't really be necessary would it? Likewise they wouldn't need to relook at your passports/etc- would they? :confused3 I really don't know. I just thought I'd read that most times they have to get off but are allowed back on quickly before everyone else (new cruisers) arrive to the port for that cruise and in atleast one case I thought I read someone was able to just stay on board -for some reason.
?

In any case... still not sure what we'd do. We've always thought it would be neat to do B2B and not have to wait to get on the ship in the masses. (and we've always gone early- never arrived getting on the ship anywhere near as late as 3pm for sure) But now I think that would be odd to be in VAncouver for the first time and not get off the ship for atleast a little while. Not sure what we could do during a short time though- because I'm not sure if we'd want to wait to get back on at 3pm or not. Maybe... it's not quite the same as rushing to be one of the first on the ship for a cruise- when we've already been on the ship. So probably we'll get off... what to do in a short time though? Decisions decisions.... but we've got lots of time to make up our minds. :lmao:
