We decided to go to Great Wolf Lodge in North Carolina for spring break, does anyone know of any other things to do in North Carolina? What about other places to stay? I have 3 kids 2, 7, and 14.

There's Discovery Place in Charlotte, supposed to be pretty neat; and I would guess Carowinds is probably open over spring break? :confused3

Doesn't Carowinds open in April, in time for the Easter Break?

About an hour north west of Concord is the NC Zoo in Asheboro which is one of the largest open area zoos in the country.

In Charlotte is Discovery Place, which would be awesome for the 2 and 7 year old.

Carowinds will open weekends starting April 2, then be open the whole week before Easter (something like the 12-22nd maybe).

Also close to Charlotte is the Reed Gold Mine, which is a very basic into to gold mines, where you get to go underground (or at least you used to be able to do so.)

You are also right at Concord Mills. It is a shopping/ entertainment center. They have a indoor/ outdoor race track, a build -a bear, large arcade, movie theaters etc. Discovery Place has just been redone and it very nice again. There are tons of places to eat VERY close to GWL, and a chunky cheese;). If you are interested in venturing out further, you are about 2 hours from the mountains of NC and about 4 to the beach.

Charlotte has a couple of really nice art museums, the Bechtler and the Mint, if you have any interest in art.

If you have any interest in NASCAR, there's the track tour at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the NASCAR Hall of Fame and lots of race shops.

Plenty of hotels here, both in Concord where Great Wolf is and in Charlotte. If you're going to Carowinds, you might want to stay down that way a night or two.

You can request information about the Concord area from the Cabarrus Convention and Visitors Bureau at www.visitcabarrus.com. Get info about Charlotte from www.charlottesgotalot.com.
