There are HUNDREDS of places in North Carolina where you can order furniture at a huge discount and have it delivered to your home. When we got good-quality bedroom furniture (Councill), I called the factory and asked for a list of places that sold it. I got a variance in price for the six pieces of more than $2,000. Ordered it from a place about 150 miles from my house. Last year, we bought an entertainment center, bookcases, etc., for the family room. We chose what we wanted at a store in the mountains, then I went on line and found other places that carried the brand -- Hooker. Saved about $500 over the price at the first store (which we had thought was good!) and got it from a store which looks like an absolute dump about 15 minutes from my house.
If you are buying namebrand furniture, you can likely find retailers on the company's website. Hickory and High Point are the furniture centers (Chamber of Commerces there can give you lots of info.), but we've actually gotten better prices on the pieces we wanted elsewhere.
An important thing to remember is that stores do not discount all brands by the same amount. Most usually have a few brands that they work really closely with -- they might do a 50% discount on those and only 30 or 40% on other brands. So, if you're buying a lot of furniture, you may not get the best prices on every thing from the same retailer.
Another important thing to remember is that the "retail price" of furniture generally represents a 200% markup, so there'a a lot of room for discounting.
Good luck.
