I hand picked the stateroom 8188 on a 4 night Dream cruise leaving on Sept 5th. We booked it eons ago, and I was so thrilled to have room 8188. Like, REALLY looking forward to that most awesome balcony space. And it's my birthday. Just sayin'. Well, we just got a call from Disney Cruise lines, and the room 8188 will be out of commission for the Sept 5 sailing due to maintenance issues, and so they have moved us to room 9172. The good news is that room 9172 is still in the 5E extended veranda category, but man! I was SO looking forward to room 8188. If there is truly maintenance going on, then it is what it is. But my fear is that someone more important or with more money wanted that room, so they bumped us. Would DCL do that?

my first cruise, we booked whatever cabin it was. we received a nice letter asking if it would be okay if the shoved us down the hall a little so the chef, who always loved that room, could stay there. I just assumed the chef had a cm cabin down the hull a ways......what do I know?

You should see if they had an upgraded room for you instead or at least some other compensation. I would definitely save the email, take it with you, and verify that no one else is in it. If some one is, I would go straight to guest relations with the email and demand to know what is going on.

This just happened to us as well. Our travel agent received a call from DCL moving us from star board room that I picked 8610 to across the hall. I picked the room bc if my little ones are asleep we could still see fireworks from our verandah and also wake up to Castaway Cay in the morning and surprise them. A little annoyed, but if it truly is maintenance then fine...

PS, we're also on this same cruise.

This would be done on ship though, right? Otherwise, there would be no way to verify if someone was in the room or not until we get on the ship, correct?

As I digest this more, it is interesting that you guys were moved too. So, it gets my brain to thinking that either this really is maintenance, or, it is a really big important group they moved us for. Golly, why did they have to take my 8188 balcony!! *whine* Maybe I should order the infamous cheese plate in my new room to go with my whine LOL.

If it would have been 8184 or it's sibling, then I would have had a major problem.

We have 8188 booked for our cruise in March. I would be just as upset as you are.

What did you tell them? I'd be tempted to say no. Or at least ask for some sort of credit or discount.

It may not be maintenance. Possibly, Bob Iger is on the cruise and he requested your room.

I haven't said anything yet. They called earlier, but it showed up on my phone as an "unknown" number so I didn't answer it. They did leave a voicemail describing the change, however, and it is all already changed and done. I went on my e-mail, and I already have an e-mail with the new room number, and the change is already reflected on my account page on the Disney Cruise website. Ugh!! I will not let a room change ruin my cruise, I won't, but right now, I am so upset!!!

He isn't going to be staying in a 5e or anyone with any money.
Do you know that for a fact? OP suggested some moneyed person wanted her room for the 4-day cruise and DCL may have lied to her about why they are changing her room.

Why are you upset? What is your special about the room?

I doubt DCL asked OP her permission to move her. However, I would like to hear what the agent would say if you for someone else said no.

Hi russjen. Sorry to hear that they changed the room on you but based on your post, you should be getting a room that is equal to 8188. I hope you're happy with it. By the way, we are on the same cruise as you are and have established a specific thread just for our cruise. You can get to it by this link - http://www.disboards.com/threads/september-5th-2016-4-night-dream-cruise.3448600/. We would love for you to join in our group and meet all the folks already participating in the thread. Hope to see you there!

Correct, no chance to say yes or no. They automatically changed it. What would be nice, is when they moved us from the room, they said, here are a few rooms from the same category, which one would you like? Although technically, I guess I could log into my account and change rooms if I now wanted to? It still would have been nice though.
