Noooooooooooo! 8188 to 9172

I booked 8188 for October 2017 Halloween cruise. We were very particular in picking this cabin. If we wanted any ole room I would have saved some money and picked an inside cabin. I feel for the OP. The balcony has everything to do with our cruise. I too would be very unhappy.

It is very interesting hearing perspectives on the maintenance issues. Just darn. It is off season, for sure. In fact, we chose the Sept 5th cruise specifically because 1) it was off season, meaning it was cheaper than the summer, and 2) that specific room was available when we booked. We are a repeat cruiser. This is our 3rd cruise, so we knew which room(s) we wanted this time around. After sleeping on it, I agree with you. Perhaps they would be willing to offer some stateroom credit. I am sure that it is in the contract that they can move rooms as needed, however, at the end of the day, here's how my husband explained it: We paid extra, a premium if you will, to be able to pick our stateroom. We are FL residents, we were well aware that this being a September cruise, there would be a good chance of the guaranteed type rates coming out closer to the date, and maybe even a FL res rate. That could be wishful thinking, maybe not. But we actually wanted this particular room, and paid full price to secure it. If we were willing to be put anywhere by Disney, we could have saved some money perhaps by booking last minute. Not a guarantee, but we have gotten a FL res rate before where the cruise was about half off. So, while I am not one to call Disney and rant and rave, it would seem fair to offer some stateroom credit.

Interesting on the poster who mentioned that they use 8188 to power wash other windows to wash away the soot.
You raise some very good points. You should call DCL and explain your issues. I wouldn't consider that ranting and raving. Some may consider what you are doing here ranting and raving, and we can't offer you stateroom credits, just this: :cheer2::grouphug: :charac2::butterfly:flower1:pixiedust:

When you are on the cruise why don't you visit the cabin you have been moved from and see if it is out of action or there is somebody else in it? If there is some FE hanging on the door your next stop is Guest Services and then start spending that OBC you insist they gift you!

8188 is has been a dream cabin for us as well. We had it reserved for a Dream cruise in 2015 that we needed to cancel, but have it booked for a Fantasy Cruise for late next year. Also have 9196 right above it booked for January. I'd be pretty disappointed to get moved to another 5E or "upgraded" to a higher Cat 5.

We've cruised 4 times, and stayed 8188 4 times. So I understand OP's disappointment. When we initially booked our last cruise 8188 wasn't available at first (darn platinum/golds ) - DD threatened not to go (jokingly, I think).

If I were in OP's situation I'd either - 1) call back and talk up how much that cabin meant to me and angle for an upgrade to concierge to try it out or 2) wait and check out the cabin on the cruise and if it's out of service let it go, but of it's in service - raise holy hell on them (in the most calm and polite way).

We have 8188 booked on the Dream for the Christtmas Cruise. I spent a lot of time looking at floor plans and specifically picked this room. I wouldn't be happy if they moved us.

I had booked a 5E Guarantee and got 9173 assigned for an upcoming cruise...I was very happy with the spacious veranda and can't wait to sail!!
