Southwest prices flying out of Philadelphia just went up! $86 to $115 I waited too long. Does anyone know if they will drop again? Im planning to leave June 7th

Ugh. I was looking at flights in Oct for family of 6 at $89 each way and now they are $129. I'm REALLY hoping they come back down again. Would have bought but don't have our plans/dates finalized yet.

I doubt it. It's getting too close for there to be sales...except absolute last minute...but if the prices went up now, I'd say the flights pretty full at this point.

Sorry agame2323, I think you're out of luck! I would buy now before they go up again!

But The 6 J's, you should still be fine. You'll get another sale before you leave, if not two. With SW, we always set a threashhold for ourselves (say $90pp). If it comes within $10 we buy immediately and have no regrets if it goes lower. If we are at 45 days out and we still haven't hit our mark (which has never happened) we plan to reevaluate and set a new mark for every 5 days.

I bought my tickets the day before they went up, somewhat, for August. explain in a minute. First I want to say I waited too, to buy my tickets I watch them go up and down a few times before I gave in and bought them. There is a chance they will go down again. Like I said they went up and down a couple of times. It's really up to you if you ant to take the chance. I only bought one way, will buy coming home soon. I am going to wait and see what happens.

OK, so now let me explain.

I have been watching the ticket prices for about 2 months, when they finally went down I still waited a wk to get them. Then I started trying to buy the tickets and everytime I did the price increased to the next higher price if I put in more then one ticket. So that's why I wanted the week. Finally one day I put in 2 tickets and was able to keep the $79 a ticket. So I used 3 different laptops to buy the tickets, one lap top had 2 tickets another had one ticket and the pc had 2 tickets. We did everything at the same time. hit all the buttons the same time. But, in the end only the one ticket went through. so in a rush I tried 2 tickets again, the $79 was still there but it wouldn't let me buy 2 at $79. So again rushing I put in 1 ticket it goes through. I looked at the price it still says $79 so on 1 pc I try 2 tickets and on the lap top I try one. Now neither is going through, it jumps to the next highest price of $114. So I leave on windows open and call SW. They are no help, all they say is the tickets were bought from under you, I try to fight but if in my cart and all my info is in, I should get the $79, but no luck. So in the end I get 2 tixs for $79 each and 3 tixs for $114 ea.

So here we are today, I go on to buy my return tix and all it will do is let me buy 1 at $115. SW is getting on my nerves! I am going to wait and see what happens. Worst case I'll fly a different airline coming home or rent a car.


I just noticed your flying date, the chances are they will go up not down this close, sorry.

you may have waited too long...I see sw by me into late june already with DINGS, Book fast as you would have to be very very very lucky to snag lower, if anything, they may go UP!

That's because there was only ONE ticket at that price. You were never going to get the others at that price. Not unless at a *different* time they lowered the prices of another bunch of tickets.

So buy the one at the lower price, buy the others at whatever price is offered after the $115 is purchased.

This is just the way it works with airline tickets. Same with other airlines, only *some* other airlines tell you how many tickets there are left at that price, so you know before you put in x tickets to purchase.

I can't speak for the OP, but in our case I'm not sure of the dates we are going otherwise I would have bought. It's not like I was hoping for lower than $89, that's for sure. We just went in March and were not planning another trip this year. However, Disney threw a little pixie dust our way because my 2 yo son broke his leg the day we arrived in the hotel room in March and so if we can get back down there this year it will be worth our while. Just trying to get 6 people down there as economically as possible and make it jive with multiple kids' days off of school, etc.
