NOOO!!! the rumours are true about indy :(

Lesson learned, I'm never booking an "off season" trip again. Every time I do, all my favorite rides are down! I'm bummed that so many things will be closed for our trip in November. But, I guess, one more reason to plan another trip!

Reading the various reactions on this thread is a deja vu experience of the numerous threads leading up to the Test Track refurb at WDW. ;)

What else for November? I'm going first through tenth.

OK so we are going 10/31-11/4....Indy is supposed to down for refurb and BTMR is rumored to be closed for rehab. I remember reading that another big ride is closed after Halloween to put up a Christmas overlay--but I cannot remember which one...so 3 big rides will be closed during our visit? I know going in off season is our choice but we really wanted to try some of these....& I bet the waits on others will be up...
Space Mtn goes down on Nov 1 for a few days to remove the Ghost Galaxy overlay.

But if I chose to go to DLR during an offseason month I would be philosophical about it - that is when refurbs happen. September and January are the two worst months for refurbs.

When I was young we would always visit my aunt and uncle in S. Cal in Jan-Feb. I did not ride The Matterhorn until I was 25 yo! :lmao:

Apparently, the following:
Casey Jr. Circus Train (opens again Nov 15th)
Storybook Land Canal Boats (opens on Nov 15th)
It's a Small World (for the holiday overlay, may open the weekend before the 12th though)
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (still unconfirmed on dates, but rumored to close in Sept)
&
Indiana Jones

While I am slightly bummed Indy will be closed for our trip in Oct, I am not surprised and know we really will not miss it. So many times we have had FP's and it was down. We would walk by, it was down. We would get on, and several effects were not working. It needs some serious love.

And what happens if the big refurbs end up being as bad as the new Matterhorn ride...?

Not sure what is planned for BTMRR if the rumours about its refurb are true, but as for Indy I wouldn't worry... the issue with the Matterhorn was the discomfort of being in the new bobsleds, and nothing I've heard about the Indy refurb indicates any change to the ride vehicles at all.

To clarify, Big Thunder Mountain Petting Ranch is getting a refurb starting Sept 10th-14th. I think this is where are the rumors are stemming from.

what are all the complaints about Indy, everytime I go to Disneyland (and I do a lot I have an annual passport) it is always open and the ride appears to function fine. Nothing on there isn't moving like Expedition Everest so wheres all this coming from that Indy is like Everest??

As someone who is making their very first trip to Disneyland in 6 weeks time(travelling from the UK) and who booked 7 months in advance to get DVC accommodation....it would be nice if they could give out slightly more advanced information.....and not just for rehabs....park hours would be useful too....!

I agree! I'm used to WDW and having the hours and stuff posted earlier sure helps in the planning.

To be honest I think my next Disney trip will be back to WDW. I have no idea where to stay (I'll keep bugging them about a smoke free resort). If not WDW, then it might be time to try US Florida.

I'm confused. All WDW resorts are "smoke free".

It is a bummer that Indy will be closed when I am there, but for everyone upset about refurbs, what do you expect Disney to do? They have to refurb rides, so when do you want them to do it? I am just thankful that Indy and maybe BTMR are the only ones happening,

To all those that think their kids may be disappointed: for my 6 year old DS 1st visit in June, we really talked up Indy...he loves big rides and we figured he would love Indy. We went on it first thing after arriving. Man, was it pathetic compared to it's old glorious self. So many things weren't working properly...it was really a big let down more than anything. He was like "blah-Indy was boring" We never did go on it again for those 5 days, but he did find a favorite in ST and Space Mountain.

So, just saying that you may think your kids will be disappointed by NOT riding on it...but it could have been just as disappointing as riding a crappy version of ride that most certainly needs refurb.

My advice is wait and tell them when you get to DL...they will be distracted by ST/SM/RSR and all the other fun rides that ARE working properly.

Stagger them so one block of guests doesnt miss it all so another block of guests gets it all, it may be off sesaon but with several rides closed, the park open 4-5 hours less per day and less parades/shows to disperse the crowds i'm sure the lines will be almost as long as summer
