I wish I'd discovered this board before now.

I am taking my 6-year-old to WDW for the first time. It is also the first time for me, and my dear wife, who are now in our 40's. We'll be spending two days in the parks and three nights total there.

I booked for mid-August and since it's our first trip, I decided we should stay as close as possible.....so we are staying in the Contemporary. At least I am a AAA member, so I saved a few hundred bucks in the process.

If I'd found this place earlier, I'd have found the food discounts!

I'll be here perusing the boards to get the most out of two days.

Thanks for this board!

I have a question?!! Have you thought of staying in a less expensive resort so you can afford more park days? 2 days will barely cover magic kingdom much less give you any quality time for a different park!!!!

WDW can be very overwhelming, so don't plan on doing it all. You would need at least two days to do Magic Kingdom. Since you are staying at the Contemporary and you have a 6 year old, MK is where I would place my focus, unless there is a specific attraction you want to see elsewhere. You will be in a good position to take the monorail to EPCOT. Will you have parkhopper tickets? Do your "homework", but I suggest taking in MK mainly and plan another trip back.

Thanks for the advice, folks.

We are planning on one day at MK, one day at Epcot, and we'll likely be back next year or the year after to do more.

One thing I have learned from planning this trip is that Disney World is impossible to get to know in even a week. Again, I wish I'd found this site earlier in my planning.

I do have the iPhone apps with ride waiting times and GPS localization, so they will help us maximize our ride time and minimize wait time.
