While reading the wonderful Homemade T-Shirt thread, Nick and Julia's Mom said that she made her own autograph book with 10x10 paper. She had one piece for the character to sign (with picture, if appropriate) and then printed another piece of paper with pictures taken at the time of signing for the final product. I thought it was GREAT and I would love to do one for my DD and her cousin.

I looked at Michael's today and didn't find 10x10 paper, but found a lot of other sizes. There were some 6x6, but all of them had funky patterns on them. Is 6x6 a common size? That would be fine ... big enough for the character to sign on and not too big to take up too much room. What size would you recommend? I would need a size that would fit into an album easily.

Thanks!
I'm not that crafty, but something about a trip being only a WEEK AWAY brings that out in me. Yikes!

I have never seen 10x10 paper. The most common are 8 1/2x11 and 12x12. I did a 6x6 album with 12x12 paper and just cut it into quarters. I also like to work with albums that are 8x8 and 5x7, but then you do have to cut the bigger paper down. They also sell books of mats, which are rectangles already cut for a picture to fit right on. That might be a time-saver for you.

When I get around to doing my signature album for my son, I will probably do it 8x8. That way there is enough room for the picture and journaling on one side and the signature on the other. There is a thread here recently showing off a princess album: it is very cute with a song lyric on each page with the princess.

Good luck and I hope I've been helpful!

I'm really not looking for anything too fancy! I was hoping to find an album with just plastic sleeves. I don't need to add mats or verse :). I took a look at the Princess Album and WOW! It looks awesome! But ... I am looking to do it simple. I know myself ... if I overextend too much it will never get done!

So, there are 8x8 and 6x6 albums out there? I think an 8 1/2 x 11 or 12x12 is really going to be too big. I think I saw plastic sleeves that were that size, but no albums at Michaels. Any suggestions where else to check?

Thanks!

I bought a really cute 6x6 album at Target. If you have a local scrapbooking store (LSS) they should have them there too. Also, if you have a nice big JoAnn's they should have them there too. Have fun!
