:furious: What is w/ all the non-paying bidders lately????? I've had 7 in the last 30 days. Then the items all seem to be going for only 1/2 of the NPB bid on the relist, and nobody's taking the 2nd chance offers.

I had an item sell 2 nights ago for upper $200's. Well, it went to a newer ebayer w/ 12 FB- they registered 2 months ago. I sent an invoice, I then followed up w/ an email same night just asking the buyer to touch base in regards to their intent to pay for the item. I explained nicely I've been having lot's of problems w/ NPB's. Of course no payment, no email, no nothing. Now, I know it's been only a few days--- but it's looking like I have another non communicater here. I really just want to send out the 2nd chance offer since it was only $5 less before this person finds another of the item. Ugh--- sometimes I HATE the wait.

I haven't had any NPB's yet thank goodness--Sorry this is happening to you!

My aaarrrggghhh is people who don't leave feedback!! WHY,WHY would they not leave feedback??

I have one lady I've been trying for over a month to get to leave FB and it's a no go--She doesn't return emails,I guess--She has left FB for others since buying the item(BNIP Oneida Silverware Service for 4,I had 2 she only wanted 1)

Some days Ebay drives me up the wall!!

What does your TOS sale? How long do they have to pay/contact you? If I were a bidder who was bugged on the SAME DAY as the invoice I might drag it out to the max just to jerk your chain. I know it's hard to wait for a $200 payment, but it's also a PIA to be bugged by the seller for immediate payment. They ARE NOT a NPB just because they didn't pay the same night they won the auction!

3 days which is tomorrow, unless other arrangements have been made. I am really flexible-- I don't mind waiting 7, even 10 days, if someone let's me know ahead of time. That's why I have such an initial short wait.
I only had 4 auctions end this week, since I'm starting to wind down until after the holiday's-- not a single one of these has paid or contacted me yet either. Some ended Sunday. All are ebayers registered only since summer w/ FB's under 20. If they don't pay that will put me at over 10 NPB's in 1 month!

I have noticed that if a bidder doesn't pay immediately, I usually receive payment on a Friday or Saturday. My best guess is that they are waiting for a paycheck.

Hope things aren't turning too sour on ebay. I really wanted to get some things listed this weekend and next to get a few extra $$$ for the holidays and our December trip. I'm also going to try and pay for 80%+ of our cruise next Dec with ebay earnings.

My everyday job is ebay. I work 5-6 days for a pawnshop and surplus store listing items. I have been working there over 2 years doing this. I have noticed that we are getting more non-paying people lately. Some days I just want to scream at some of the people I have to deal with. My favorite today was someone who paid for an item 7 days after she won it and had the nerve to put pls ship ASAP on her paypal payment. Sometimes I want email them and say pay ASAP pls. They are still some great ebayers out there, might want to make sure you set up buyer requirements.

I have had 4 non payers out of about 200. That is 4 more than I wanted. My biggest problem is people who do not understand why they do not receive their item in 2 days. I ship priority or first class so most items are received in no more than 4 days and I ship the day after I receive payment. Even with this, I have gotten at least 10 emails from buyers wanting to know where their item is. When I buy items from ebay, if I receive it within a week, I am very happy. I can not imagine sending an email 2 days later wanting to know where my item is.

!

My complaint is the same only in reverse.. I am a regular buyer on ebay who usually pays immediately or within 24 hours. I regularly get sellers who say they will not leave feedback for me until I leave it for them. I have paid right away and may not get my item for 2 weeks depending on where it is shipped from, but I have to wait too leave feedback to get feedback. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I did my part and always leave feedback, but why should I have to wait for feedback? Then when the product is of poor quality and I mention that in the feedback (only after trying to discuss the situation with the seller and getting no where) they reflect that back to me in my feedback. That just doesnt add up.

Why not require immediate payment? It is an option.

What kills me is the sellers do require it but don't feel it necessary to ship it out for upwards of a week or more. I buy & sell, the faster the payment the faster I ship.. if the buyer is a non-communicator or fails to pay in a timely manner then I'm in no hurry to ship... You get what you give.

It is my experience that the non-payers come out in droves during the holiday season. I had too many non-payers to count last Nov & Dec. It is really frustrating at that time since you are dealing with a short time window to sell.

I do have terms. 3 days for payment unless other arrangements are made. I also put right in there I ship only twice a week Tuesday and Friday. All items paid for by 10pm est Thursday go Friday, and same for Monday to be shipped Tuesday. Now, how many people read it-- I think none. Because I also list- I'm holding checks AND money orders for 2 weeks (that's 10 business days). It's my preference and I state it in all caps. I cannot tell you the number of people that email me 2-3 days after I get their money order's and ask if I've shipped their item yet.

Well, today is 3 day's anyway- so if she doesn't at least make contact it's going to second chance offer.

As for feedback- I'll admit I'm a bit lacking in that area. I do leave it, but I usually sit down once a month and leave it all at one time. It's just too much to try and go in daily and leave it for each left for me. I know just a few weeks ago I got 20+ on a Thursday. But, like I had said now that things are winding down for me- I'm leaving it more weekly. I wanna wrap up all my ebay loose ends by Veteran's Day and then I'm done until February.

I'm a buyer and I wish all sellers would think like you do! :thumbsup2

3 days is really fast to expect payment. 7-10 days is way mroe reasonable especially if you get M/O and checks for payment. If I was being asked where my money was right away I might ntake forever to pay or not pay at all cuz I don't want to deal with an anal ebayer. I only have 23 feedbacks but have been registered for 5 yrs or so. I also think that holding checks and M/O for two weeks is outrageous! You know way before that time wether it's going to clear or not and if it clears you should be shipping it out as soon as you know it has cleared. maybe they see it cleared in their acct but you tell them, sorry, you have to wait 9 days more before I'll send your package. Not everyone like paypal. I know I'll never be using it!!

Let me address this.

Some sellers feel their job is done when they ship the item. However, I feel the transaction is not complete until the buyer has received the item and is satisfied with it. The only way for me to know that is for the buyer to leave me feedback or otherwise contact me. So yes, I will often wait for buyer feedback before posting my feedback.

If I post feedback saying "Great buyer" and then the buyer turns out to be a pain in the butt demanding a refund or claiming the box was empty or something like that, I'm stuck because I've already left my feedback.

Just curious - why do you hold money orders for 2 weeks? It's been a long time since I've purchased a money order - but, aren't they basically the same as cash? Once deposited, the bank credits the funds to your account immediately without any hold??

I'm curious, what happens to the original bidder when you send out the second chance offer? Obviously, you can't start the NPB process until 7 days after the end of the acution, but you're offering a second chance at 3 days.

Also, are you sending a reminder? What program do you use for managing eBay? I know when I was using Vendio I could send a "reminder" message to a slow contact. It usually worked to prod them into completing the check-out process. I loved Vendio, but wanted to save a bit of $$ by just using eBay's free Seller tools. If you're giving up on a bidder without a reminder you may be shooting yourself in the foot.

As for your policy on checks ... as long as it's in your TOS it's up to your buyers to choose to buy from you or not. If they want their stuff right away, then they should use PayPal or choose a different seller. Honestly, there are very few unique things on eBay and there is always someone else selling the same kind of thing.

Good luck! I hope the whole NPB thing turns around for you!

Not at all! Money orders may be counterfeited as well and they may be discovered to be counterfeit after your bank credits them to your account. This is one reason I now accept PayPal only.

I sent an invoice, I then followed up w/ an email same night just asking the buyer to touch base in regards to their intent to pay for the item.

I would be very annoyed to receive 2 payment reminders in one day right after an auction end.

3 days is really fast to expect payment.

Not if you only accept PayPal for payment; three days is very reasonable.

On my auctions on e-bay, I put in the description...payment is expected within 10 days of auction close. Even with this, I get non-paying bidders. I'm an understanding, considerate person like you. If they're communicating with me what is going on, no big deal. However, there are some that just do not communicate. For these, I have no sympathy. When the 10th day comes and I still haven't received payment or communication, I file a non-paying bidder alert. If I haven't received payment after the 8 day period, I close the dispute. I get refunded my Final Value Fee and then I leave negative feedback for that person. I have no sympathy anymore for people that bid & do not pay or communicate.

Also, I will be leaving a week from tomorrow to go to WDW for my Birthday. In the last few auctions I listed, I noted in the description that I am going out of town & that payment should be made by this particular date so that I can send the item to you prior to going out of town. If payment is not received by this date, the item will be shipped after Nov. 11th when I get back in town. So if I get someone who says, I didn't know, etc. I can copy & paste my auction & e-mail it to them saying it was in the auction prior to you bidding on the item. I try to cover all my bases. Sometimes, even doing that doesn't work.

As a seller on ebay, I also have a problem with buyers not leaving me feedback. I've corrected this to a certain extent by sending them a note after I sent their item out saying...Once you have received the item, please leave me positive feedback. I plan on doing the same for you...They leave me feedback. I make sure I do it for them. They do not leave me feedback. I will not leave it for them. This is the only way I have found to make sure more people leave feedback. This is my solution to the situation. It may not add up for you but it does for me.

I feel your pain. As a seller on ebay, I put the cost for shipping/handling in the U.S. in my auction description. You wouldn't believe how many e-mail me asking what the shipping cost is to New York, California, etc. Now when I get these, I laugh. When I am done laughing, I send a response giving the answer to their question. I also let them know that it is stated in the auction.

I honestly believe a lot of people do not actually read the descriptions or the information on the auctions. They skim over it or just bid on it without reading which could possibly get them in trouble. I also note in all my auctions...please ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. There are some that don't read this either. What can you do? I try to cover all my bases but sometimes that doesn't work.
