I think its pathetic that not only are people making fun of an accidental hunting incident but that our liberal press would LOVE to see the victim die. I mean, you can actually see them salivating at the bit at the prospect of the man expiring.

I swear reporters were actually smiling when they reported he had suffered a heart attack. They are sitting around HOPING this man dies just so they can dig their fangs into this administration a little bit more.

What station are you watching? I think that the scandal is the cover up, not shooting. I think he may have gotten more sympathy and respect if he had been more forthcoming. I don't think that anyone has accused him of doing it on purpose but of shying away form the police and the press. He just looks guilty. He may not be but his actions say otherwise. He brought this on himself.

If there is anything he has said that I truly believe, it's when he said he has no desire to become President. I think that's why he usually marches to his own drummer and pays no attention to his critics. Nothing will come back to haunt him because he is not running for office. If he does, I would be very shocked.

Where is the cover up??? The proper authorities were alerted in a timely matter of the accident. What upsets the press is that Cheney didn't call them first and let them know what happened.

I don't know how that is considered a cover up unless you want to call it that.

A cover up is when you say you don't know where the Rose law firm records are for a few years and then they suddenly show up in your private quarters in the White House. THAT is a cover up. Not letting the press know you accidentally shot someone for 12 hours isn't IMO.

Oh and of course the mainstream press isn't going to say they hope that Mr Whittington dies but you know in their hearts they would love it because it would make a better story for them and their fellow vultures.

I think it was bold of Cheney to tell the owner of the private ranch, whom he paid to hunt there, to report the incident to a local paper and ensure it's accuracy. Why expose yourself to a real reporter? They ask too many questions.

If you or I shot someone, we would not be able to call the police and set up an appointment to be investigated the next day. I just sounds fishy. Again, I never said he did anything wrong. He just handled himself in a way that makes him look like he was guilty of something.They also did not alert the press until much later in the day on Sunday not 12 hours later (and some small paper at that.) That is just not normal proticol. Also, this has nothing to do with Clinton (or Kerry) I just don't get these analogies.

My my that's pretty harsh. I wouldn't wish for any innocent person to get shot. Are you a liberal/democrat by chance? They hate guns. So I guess using your logic everyone who drives a car should get in a serious accident so they can rethink about driving.

FWIW, I belong to the NRA and I've been shot. Accidents happen. I never once thought about getting rid of my guns afterwards. In fact, I still own and shoot my guns. I'm still a strong believer in the 2nd amendment.

I personally can't stand the Bush Administration, but when this story first broke I found it to be a NON-ISSUE.

HOWEVER, upon learning that Cheney turned the local police away and didn't take a drug/alcohol test after the event (which any other regular Joe would certainly have had to have taken) - I became suspecious and annoyed that the VP continuely seems to think he is above the LAW.

Then the only time he chooses to speak about it, it's on "government tv" , ie. Fox News (Faux News)...

Cheney HIMSELF has turned this INTO an issue that needs to be addressed.

When I heard that Dick Cheney had shot an old man in the face, the first thing I wondered was where John Kerry’s service records were.

I think this is only natural. We need to compare John Kerry’s service record to Dick Cheney’s quail hunting record just in case we unexpectedly travel back in time to November of 2004 and are asked to recast our ballots in the Presidential election.

It’s obvious that these two events are forever interconnected. How can we criticize our Vice-President for shooting an old man in the face when a one-time presidential candidate has a 40 year old service record that cannot be collaborated to the biased standards of a political pressure group? It hardly matters that this group distorted facts in order to trash a man who had served his country with distinction. The important thing is that they had a political agenda and that agenda was more important than the respect Americans normally reserve for those who answer to the call to arms in a time of war.

As long as John Kerry’s service record has been questioned for purely political reasons, Dick Cheney should have license to shoot whoever he wants in the face. If the liberal media doesn’t like it, then too bad for them.
