NON Parking Hopping/EMH QUESTION

My ds10, ds11, and I will be spending 4 days at DW in July. As we are perfectly happy just to go to one park per day,I would like to buy non-park hopping tickets. This will save us about $111 over the park-hopping option. More importantly though as we will be staying on-site, I definately want to take full advantage of any "extended magic evening hours".

What I am concerned about is this: Say, for example, I buy non-park hoppers. Then based on the current EMH schedule I see that MGM is staying open late on Tuesday, so I book (90 days early as suggested) a PS Dinner show at the MGM that day. But what if we finally arrive at DW only to find out the EMH schedule has been changed and Epcot is the park open late on Tuesday instead. With non-park hoppers can we still choose to spend Tuesday at Epcot,go over to MGM for the dinner/show, and then go back to Epcot for the rest of the evening? If the answer is no, then can I add the park-hopping option on when we get there if need be? I hate to spend the extra money if I don't have to. Thanks.

You will need a hopper option to go into two different parks in one day. Disney would have no way of knowing that you were in MGM just for a dinner show and nothing else

According to MouseSavers.com: "The park hopper option can be added after the intial ticket purchase. For instance, if you buy a 7 day ticket and decide on the 2nd day of your vacation that you would like to "hop" between parks, you can add the park hopper option for $35.00 plus tax. Such upgrades are allowed within the first 14 days (day of first use plus 13 days)"

That $111 will buy you flexibility. It's worth every penny. I urge you to spend the extra.

Your example of Disney changing the EMH schedule on short notice is only one of infinite potential problems that could be solved by having park hopper passes.

Suppose the park hours change? Suppose you finish your days at AK and MGM at 2pm (this happens a lot)? Suppose you get to one park first thing in the morning and discover that it's full, fuller, fullest? Suppose you want to eat in 4 Epcot restaurants but you only plan on being in Epcot 2 days? Suppose you change your mind and want to see Wishes a second or even third time without adding more MK days to your schedule? Any of these Supposes could be fixed by having a hopper pass instead of a non-hopper.

I know $111 is a lot of money, but after having been to WDW 15 times I know all the things that can change with no prior notice and cause your well-laid plans to go right out the window. Park hopping gives you the most basic flexibility, i.e. the ability to enter more than one park on any given day, and makes it possible for you to adapt to changes in Disney's policies and schedules, and to changes in your own plans once you get to WDW.

Get the hopper option. You won't be sorry you did.

you are probably right, and I will probably end up getting park hopping tickets anyway. Thanks for your message and insight. Kathy
