Non park trip?

I may have a few free nights at CBR through a promo.
DH is going on a hunting trip in Oct.
I have a Disney addiction and major travel itch.
DD7 doesn't seem to really enjoy anything about the parks: rides, shows, characters, endless walking. But yet she always wants to go to WDW.

So I am leaning towards a long weekend trip (3-4 nights) for me and DD, but the kicker is that we will not go to any parks. Can we keep ourselves entertained for a few days just being on property? I know the endless list of free activities and while they sound great to me, will we end up bored?

Has anyone else ventured to do this? How did it turn out? Were you tempted to visit your fave park while there (Epcot)?

There is certainly plenty to do that does not involve the parks. Downtown (and the new Splittsville), visiting the resorts, swimming, etc.... I don't think you would be bored, but it depends on your personality. I know a few people that are DVC owners that go and rarely visit the parks. They love the resort and do other things while there. I know others that go Commando and are exhausted when done.

I for one would have to go to the parks. I enjoy being there and the atmosphere. It would just pull me in and there is no way DD would be right there and not want to go.

I haven't tried this but I have travelled to WDW with my DD10 three times just the two of us. It was wonderful! I let her dictate our schedule. I know she likes the thrill rides so I did make sure we hit the parks at rope drop once for each park. However, the rest of the trip we did whatever she wanted. She was tired and wanted to swim - we left and went swimming. She wanted to go to DTD, we did. Etc. When we travel with DH and DS, it feels more tiring because there are 2 other people with wants/opinions there.

So, I say go for it and let your DD call the shots. I do realize that if you don't have park tickets, it makes it more difficult (and expensive) to go to a park if the urge hits, though.

Plenty to do. If you are there in October, you could always do the Halloween Party at MK one night, and then you'd get a sample and some fun without feeling the need to buy a multi-day ticket.

Check out all the activities at the resorts - like Chip & Dale singalong at Wilderness Lodge, or book an afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. Visit Animal Kingdom Lodge, maybe have a meal there. All resorts have a campfire & movie every evening, so you could hit a different one each night. The Beach Club is beautiful after dark and you could stay and watch the movie, or walk over to check out any entertainment going on at the Boardwalk. You could ride a monorail loop and go to the Poly for dinner, then watch the MK fireworks from the beach. There's plenty going on outside of the parks.

I agree about going to MK for a party - you could get in at 4pm. Your DD might have more fun if she gets to dress up and trick-or-treat.

I love the idea of the party! And I forgot about the nightly movies. I'm sure we would stay plenty busy, esp with all that the resorts have to offer. If this free CBR offer turns out to be legit, then we should definitely plan to go!

I did an eight day, solo, no parks, all resorts trip one year at POR. It was the best.

We several half days on our last trip resort hopping. Our then 10 year old girls still talk about the resorts and which ones they would like to stay at.

We've done it plenty of times. We love just hanging around and having a "down trip". Though we are almost always tempted to venture into Epcot in the evening for dinner or a snack. Really just because of favorite things there though.

I think you will have a great time. We love going into Fort Wilderness and that is a free activity. The resorts are fun to tour as well. Have you given any thought to maybe a day at SeaWorld? It isn't as expensive as Disney and we just went for the first time. My girls are 11 /13 and they asked why we hadn't brought them sooner! The shows are very good.
