Non-members blatantly using facilities

Anyone could park at DTD and take the boat over to SS, OKW, etc. and use the pools without even having to go through any security. :headache: OOPS, I might have given some people new ideas. :cool2:

Anyone could do the same at any of the DVC's. Between, parking, boating, bussing and walking, most Disney resorts are accessible without having to pass through Security.

heck you can hop on a bus and ride right in!

We were just at a resort where all the pool towels were beach towels that were one color, with a $25.00 fee per towel, if we didn't turn them all back in. Each room was assigned 4. If we needed more, we had to sign for them. When we needed clean ones we turned those back in for a swap. I assure you, we kept up with our towels and turned them all in at check out. If a non resort guest had used the beach or pool, their towel would not have matched.

I like the gate at the pool entrance needing key card for entrance. There is usually a thread about the abuse at the Polynesian. The guests can't even get to the pool for park guests riding the monorail over for the aftenoon. I started to book the Poly last Fall, then changed my mind remembering that Thread.

We have had a problem at our pool in our Condo Assoc. Residents that no longer live here come back to use the pool. We have changed over to an electronic key system that records entry, and notes the address it is assigned to. Video cams were also installed, and vandalism has stopped completely.

We just stayed at BCV last week and spent one day at SAB. While we were there a large group of kids ages approx 18-23 were loudly splashing and causing a scene for about an hour, none of them had wristbands and no one questioned them! It was a little irritating

Can't really go by the wristband thing. We stayed over a week in May and only on one day did they use wristbands and that was only on people coming in later. We never had wristbands the whole time and I hate to think of anyone glaring at my kids and their naked wrists.

from my experience other resorts will question u in this case & send u to front desk to verify that u r a guest & give u the wrist bands.

will note most tend to charge a fee if u remove or lose them during ur stay too;) i prefer to get them on ankle if possible, less "catching" on things.

the real solution would to be follow them home and all the dvc owners turn up and camp out on their lawn see how they like it.:rotfl:

Most of the times that I have stayed at BCV we received wristbands for SAB access. I know when my brother and my now sister-in-law pool hopped, they called the other resort in advance and had to check in with the front desk to get wristbands (this was a very long time ago, when DVC members could pool-hop to SAB).

As for mandating that people use hotel pool towels, I'm not sure how great of an idea that is. A lot of people buy towel while on vacation or bring from home because they are larger, warmer, softer, and the user knows how clean they are. You cannot punish a family for wanting to use their own towels. Also people, who go to the park and then head straight to the pool without having to stop up in the room, will now have to run up and grab their towels to have pool access, which with little kids can be a hassle. Disney just needs to gate up the pools and have CMs check IDs for wristbands. Other CMs and lifeguards should be scanning for wristbands in the pool area.

Complain, complain, complain. It is the "only" thing that will fix it. And please do not vent here and expect that to work.

Write them, call them, email them. Yes they read the forums but you know sometimes that hurts instead of helping.

Because they read a thread about how many here are upset about the SSR bus situation and the pool usage violations but they don't see many actual complaints being made at the resort or to MS.

So their conclusion is that the DVC members here simply like to talk but are not action.

Some time back I used the addy Sammie posted and never got a maeler-daemon But I have also not received a reply- auto or otherwise to my e-mail... :confused3 Wonder if it even will make a difference

Pretty much I think it's a karma issue ...and if the 'local guy ' wasn't being noisy or misbehaving, I probably would have just kept to my own biddness.
Altho I 'd like to think only Resort Guests were using the pool, I hate it when I have to wear a wristband and find them darn uncomfortable. And sometimes I go down to the pool without any ID if there's someone left in my unit.

I own DVC and have often thought of pool hopping over to the Poly which I assume is still allowed...I just can't seem to find the energy when I've got a nice pool right where I'm staying (BWV)...But I still think it would be fun to go over in the evening to watch the EP and WIshes from the Poly pool. Of course, I didn't relish the idea of changing clothes in the ladies' room or going home wet.

Totally agree, I hardly use the pools as is, the last thing I want to do is go to another resort and leave wet. It is not my style, but I can't stand going to my resort pool and not having a place to set, relax, put my feet up. This is what gets to me. We pay for the upkeep, we should be the ones using the facilities.

Too bad pools aren't constructed like the ones I have been to in Vegas.

One entrance, one guard. No key, no entry.

I did get by one guard once, but it was obvious I was only taking pictures and he kept an eye on me.

I wish Disney enforce the standards that it sets. I've sent a letter in once, regarding someone using SAB who wan't staying at at BCV, and I'm not even sure I got the standard reply. I wouldn't hesitate to send another letter if I saw pool crashers. In one way, this thread explains my whole uneasiness with the concept of a timeshare. Someone is making a profit, and I'm helping to pay the bills. Yes, I know they cannot make a profit from my annual dues, but somewhere in the mix is the money that I'm putting out for maintenance.

However, it is also true that I like to use the pool during off hours, like early morning, later in the evening, when not many people are there. That's when I like to relax and enjoy myself. I'm not on vacation to enforce Disney's rules.

If truth is to be told, I myself am tempted to run get my bathing suit when we eat at Cape May cafe for dinner and I see how few people are enjoying SAB and I see how easy it would be to get in. However, it's why we bought BCV, to stay there more often, so I'm less inclined to be tempted! This is what I said in my letter, the option is there, stay at BCV if you want to swim there...that should be enforced!

My worst pool experience EVER was in Vegas! My favorite resort is Mandalay Bay because of the pool. We always paid a premium to stay there. Yes, they have the guards at the gate, you WILL go back to your room and get your key, without exception and every key gets swiped.

That said, we arrived at the pool at opening, stood in a long line and could not get a lounger or chair! People were taking 8-10 chairs at a time, throwing a magazine or a flip flop on them. We sat on a wall while 2 kids held 8 loungers all day. I was really steamed when the rest of the crew finally showed up fully dressed, raving about the Buffet and shops! After that we had zero tolerance for chair saving.

We complained but no one did anything.

That was my last trip to Vegas. And we went every year.

I'm not sure I want WDW turning into a police state just to keep people out of the pools

The resorts are open. They are easy to get into.....we routinely go over to Olivia's to eat even when not staying at OKW. All the WDW resorts have plenty of reasons for other people to be on the property...from just looking around to drinking at a bar to eating there.

The key card at Vero doesn't help really....people are nice and let each other in all the time.

And when WDW first opened, they encouraged day guests to go swimming at the pools.

I almost never turn anyone in. But the OP person was being SO blatant. I think I might have just said, "Let's go see what the CM has to say about that"

But in truth, CMs are quick to say yes to swimming when it's not crowded.

The only time in 20 years of going to Disney that I was asked for my Resort id at a pool, was during a holiday week trip ,when it was crowded.

The distressing thing is that it evens needs to be monitored. People should simply do the right thing.

But if this thread was on the Resorts forum instead of there and us of all of agreeing it is a problem, many would be saying Go For it, Lighten Up everyone, etc.
