We have a trip in September, only me and DH, with Free dining. We only took 2 days in the parks, we have done a lot of them in the past 20 years, and just want a week to cool it off. We are going back with the kids in January, they are now 18 and 21, they can come in January but it might take a while after that. I was thinking of buying a 10 days with non expiration for me and DH.
So here are my questions

1- Would it be a problem adding non expiration to our passes, since I read went I book on line that everybody in the room must be on the same package, they would buy passes but not us.

2- Are you still entitle to free dining when you have the non expiration

3- Can we link the passes to MDE

I also thought of AP but even if we plan to go twice a year I am not sure the dates would be within 365 days.

1- After you arrive and each person GETS a ticket, each guest can modify each ticket, individually.
(Works even with MagicBands instead of tickets.)

2-Yes. No affect.

3- Yes.

If Non-expiring fits your needs, you can upgrade to Non-expiring, individually.

There was a momentary glitch and my reply was not registering, but all seems OK now.

If I understand correctly...you want to buy non-expiring tickets when you and DH go in September 2014. Then you will have those tickets to use in January 2015 when you go with the family. Yes you can do this.

However, IF you want to book a package for the January trip, it would be a problem since all guests on a package reservation must have the same ticket -- and you and DH would not need tickets at that time. But if you plan to do a room-only reservation in January and purchase tickets separately for your kids for that trip, you'll be fine to get no-expiration tickets for you and DH in September, to use again in January and whenever else you may go.

If you are asking can you get free dining in September and purchase non-expiration tickets, yes. You cannot get free dining without purchasing tickets on that package; so if you are thinking about the January trip, you would need to buy tickets with that package as well. Those tickets can be set aside and used at another time (to upgrade or whatever) but you would still need to purchase minimum tickets (usually 2-day) for free dining. [FWIW I don't think free dining has been a regular offer in January, but I don't go then so might not have paid as close attention.]

Enjoy your vacation!

On our trip in January DH and I both used our APs. My grown children bought their own passes (4 day park hoppers). I linked all the ticktets to DME wthout a hitch. We even changed resorts mid trip with no problems. Has this changed?

Nope.

Only when booking a RESORT PACKAGE do all guests need to have the same type
of ticket in order to be part of the SAME package reservation.
