We just returned from a stay in Maui at the Kaanapali Beach Club (formerly the Embassy). We plan to post a trip report separately, but suffice to say, we thought it was very nice, and probably would have been perfectly acceptable to return to; UNTIL we visited the Marriott Maui Ocean Club. This place was gorgeous, and we were so impressed with it that we met with a representative and took the tour.

After returing home, we started thinking that if we were to buy, resale would make the most sense. We are considering buying a one bedroom, every-other-year, possibly with an ocean view. The Timeshare Store does not handle the Maui Ocean Club. Can anyone suggest reputable companies to look at?

We also looked at the Westin Maui, and were very impressed with that as well. Any thoughts on the Marriott vs. Westin ownership experience?

Marriott and Westin are two of the best timeshare companies out there. They both have thier pluses and minuses.

Rules for timeshares:
Buy where you want to stay.
Buy resale.

Hawaii is one of those places that you don't buy to trade. Its too expense, the maintenance fees are high.

FYI, we own Westin timeshares and really like the system and resorts that they have. Currently they have 18 resorts, with several in developement.
