Could someone please explain the process to me of how you go about using your points for other worldwide destinations such as those offer by Interval International and the World Passport Collection. Are there difficulties in doing so? Thanks.

TO use your points in any of the collections you call member services. They are your gateway. They deal with the exchange companies and other providers. They can also arrange air and car for you as well.

The process is you decide where you want to go, call the exchange department of DVC MS, make a request and get either an instant match or place an ongoing search, pay the $75 exchange fee then wait and hopefully get your exchange confirmed.

The process is pretty simple in many aspects. However, it is very complicated in knowing what resorts will work for you as well as which are a value in exchanging DVC. It doesn't make sense to accept an exchange for 144 points if you could have rented that same week for $700 for example. That responsibility is yours to evaluated the resorts and option and I don't think MS is qualified or very helpful in that area, that's just not what they do. YOU must do the investigation yourself to be certain you are getting what you want. A complication that many get into is trying to get airfare, esp using FF miles. And if you have to change or cancel, you can lose your entire vacation very easily. Most ongoing searches aren't matched until at least 6 months out which may be too late for many people.

Hey MCO bound,
We use our points in the Concierge collection and the Worldpassport collection all the time. Last Memorial Day, we went to Washington D. C and stayed at the Mandarian Oriental, no problems getting a holiday weekend booking and the hotel was fabulous. April of 2000 we took the entire family to London, once again using our points. Each time we simply called member services, paid the transfer fee and off we went.
We plan on going to Australia in 2007 for my husband's 45th birthday.
