noise at FW?

Hi All,

I am glad I found this place! We are planning our first camping trip to DW (been there 4 times and have always stayed off site). We are not going until Sept. 2002 but planning is all part of the fun so we are starting early.

Anyway, we are wondering which loop to consider for our trip. We are going with friends of ours and we will have 6 kids between us. Ages 7,7,almost 5, almost 5, 2 1/2 and 2 1/2 (does that sound like I am repeating myself? (S)). We have heard some of the loops can get pretty noisy with the buses running until all hours and we would like to get some sleep. Any input on this one would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Camping Board! We're happy to answer any questions you have!

Will you be in a motorhome, or are you tent camping? If you are in a tent or tent-trailer, I would recommend loop 1500. It's close to the Meadows area & campfire program and within walking distance to the Settlement area & marina.

We've never had the buses bother us at night. Maybe because we sleep so well after the busy days at the parks!

We will be in a tent and would like to avoid the noise of the buses returning from the parks all night. We would also like to avoid listening to the motor homes generators and air conditioner but what can you do.

We have seen alot of recomendations for loop 200 but we need to also keep in mind that we will have 6 fairly young children between us and our friend. We are taking our bikes as transportation.

Better check about the bikes,i know you can rent them their,i dont know if you can bring your own.I also hate to say it,but remeber your going to disneyworld ,walt wanted it to be a fun place for children ,where they could laugh and just plain have a good time.

Yes you can bring your own bikes.I would recommend talking to the ressie person and having put on your info that you want to not be near the bus stops. It does get kind of loud when you want to go to bed early and you can hear the busses coming by until late. I also would not recommend staying in the 2000 loop near the comfort station because it is right by the bus stop and a main route into a back area. You will hear BIG trucks all night which are trash trucks and others such as that.

The 1500 loop doesn't allow motorhomes, so you won't get the noise from them!

Thanks for the info. We will avoid loop 2000 and we are leaning towards the 1500 that everyone seems to be recommending. The only thing I am wondering now is if there will be any sites left in that loop or if the DIS people will have them all.

We do not expect to be in bed early but when we do finally get there we would like to sleep. I imagine that the kids will be so tired that they will pass out more than fall asleep so I am not worried about them.

If you ask for the "inside" of a loop at check in, it would be helpful.

Our biggest worry was the same as yours our first time down there and the CM at the check-in put us on the inside of the loop and we never heard noise.

We always stay in the 400 loop. It's preferred site, but the extra money is worth it because it's so close to everything.

Motorhomes don't run their generators at FW because they hook up to electricity. You will hear lots of air conditioners, even in 1500, though. Most of the popups we saw had air conditioners.

The noisiest things in the 1500 loop would be the kids! Saw lots of them running around--even at 11:00 at night!

Just got back a couple of days early--we wore the 70 year old and 17 month old out!
