NOBODY IS MORE SURPRISED THAN US! GKTW alumni return! 10/21 MOVING DAY!!

I don't think some people can really understand the strain living with a chronically ill person can be, the unknown factor (of the knows that can happen) are huge. It has ruined many a friendship because I have to put their needs first...and we do have more than one person with so many needs. But you know, we have discussed this aspect before and I appreciate your understanding.

I totally get this -- and I only have one person with needs.

Any news on Owen?

This is so true. Part of Vince's treatment involved daily trips to Texas Children's Hospital. Some of Bonnie's was there, too.....and I really liked it when they coordinated! Being there was just part of the kid's lives...and they thought it was "normal." Since we only had 1 car, I had to take my husband to work and pick him up after. That meant really early mornings and fighting Houston traffic daily. Vince didn't get to attend the first semester of Kindergarten because of it. Fortunately, by the time the spring semester came around, he only had to go once a week!

I lost many friends because they just didn't understand that I was worn out by the weekend (still had hospital runs on the weekends too. I can't remember my husband ever taking the kids to the doctor.) I just figured that they weren't really friends if they only called during the "fun" times!

Tracy, I need to answer several of your emails, forgive me! PLEASE don't hold it agains't me, I really do care about the fact I am so far behind on everything. I am thankful you are a good friend and gracious and really understand!

THANK YOU for your prayers and your friendship!
Don't worry about the e-mails! They'll keep!

I haven't had much time to pop in lately, sorry.

The movie night for American Legends looked yummy! I've never seen that movie.

France has a few possibilities, can't wait to see what Christian choses.

As always you and your family are in my prayers,

Danygirl, praying for your dad. Praying for everyone else's needs too.

Thank you for your continued prayers. PLEASE KNOW I am lifting your Dad, you and the entire family up. I hope you feel God's Love and Grace. :grouphug:

Thank you I really appreciate it. I know you understand when a chronically ill person starts to get progressively worse, which is where we are at right now unfortunately. I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them

Please forgive me for going out of sync on responses, I wanted to respond about Owen and knew I would forget where I was when I came back to respond to everyone else if I didn't do these now.

I totally get this -- and I only have one person with needs.

Any news on Owen?

Thanks for the support and understanding Debbie. It is very difficult to have a friend abandon you, and it happened to me again just recently. I actually told this person when we became friends (and often had to remind her of this, even when she saw first hand how nuts it was around here) that she would get tired of dealing with things, because my family has the most incredibly strange, continuous things happen that are exhausting and there are times it is all I can do to get through the busyness of the days. She recently accused me of having too many friends (far from it and there IS no such thing) and shoving her to the bottom of my friend list. You all know I have had limited phone/Internet service, one vehicle, adding to my driving and a very sick little girl, on top of the typical "stuff." My family must come first, always. I will always love my friend, I can't turn my emotions on and off like that. I believe when you have a problem with someone, you should discuss it honestly with the person what is wrong, she does not....it is a loss; but I must respect her choice.

Owen had an extremely rough night and he definitely need prayers...so does his worried, exhausted Mama!

I am living those one car blues Piper, I greatly empathize. I know there will come a day when I wish I HAD my children near so I COULD run them everywhere. Homeschool has been a blessing to me, because I can work the school schedule around the needs. Lisa missed almost the entire last semester of her kindergarten year...she was like a mini celebrity when she would show up for a few minutes here and there.

I am sorry you lost folks in your life as well, I am sure with your own health needs that can still be a problem! :grouphug: You are so right a true friend would not abandon you. I know you and Debbie both understand.

Dear Tracy, I KNEW without a doubt you would understand! You have such a wonderfully kind and generous heart and ARE my friend!!! I know you are incredibly busy yourself! How is the weather? Job? YOU!!!! I am looking forward to Christian's movie night, if Lisa continues to improve, this will be the first one she will fully be able to enjoy!

We need to change the fact you haven't seen American Legends...I wish you were here to partake in movie nights with us...I can hear your infectious laugh now!

Praying for you!

Update from Owen.....came through surgery like a superhero! They have a blog www.simmonsfamilyupdate.com.

Thanks Alyson, I didn't post it, wasn't sure how Andrea felt about it on the DIS. I am grateful you alerted me to the fact the surgery was imminent.

Thank you I really appreciate it. I know you understand when a chronically ill person starts to get progressively worse, which is where we are at right now unfortunately. I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them
I DO understand and I am truly sorry this is such a difficult time! My prayers continue! :grouphug:

Judy, glad to hear the girls are feeling better.

The best thing is to remember that it was only things, and not you or your children harmed in the fire.

Hope all get good reports today.
Thanks Kathy! :grouphug:

You are so right, it WAS just things! The only things that hurt were items like locks of baby hair, pictures....the sentimental things. I never dwelled on them, I had the "real things" with me, Praise God.
Judy, so sorry to hear that Lisa got Rachel's bug. Hope they are both on the mend very soon! I also hope you get good news at all the doctor appointments today.
God bless you for always being here Amy, Praying all is well for you. Any news on the job?
Way too cute!!! Thanks for sharing all the pics :)

JUDY -- the best news of all is that Lisa hasn't needed any further heart surgery and I now know she's tall enough to be "adult sized" so when it's time for her next surgery she will be in great shape. Praying everyone feels better soonest. I am slowly on the mend but dh is sick now. Had f/u w/ ortho today and will start PT as soon as referral gets processed since my ROM only went up 5%. I only have pain with overdoing it though and am sleeping better.

More later... must run. Hopefully I can share some vaca pics later this week or next.
You are so right Andrea, I am so grateful. Reading about Owen brings the emotions of fear, worry, grace and gratitude to the forefront. Praying Jayson, the children and YOU are much better by now and that PT is helping your shoulder! Is it??? I s it painful? I am so sorry yu have to deal with this it is time for you to have some easier days!
Glad the girls are on the mend. Hope they are 100% soon!!

Hugs for the emotional day! Thank goodness that Lisa hasn't had to have those next surgeries yet.

Continued prayers for you and your family. My next appointment is July 17. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thank you Sandra! I am so happy to read the good news and am Praying constantly for you to feel good each and every day!!! You deserve that!!!
Sorry to hear that the girls haven't been feeling well. Hope they are both doing better now.

Just wanted to let you know that the new American Girl movie, Saige Paints The Sky, is going to be on Saturday night on NBC with Jane Seymour playing the grandmother.

Keeping you all in prayer!
God Bless you Gail Thank you! I owe yo a few email responses as well, but I hope we can catch up this weekend! :goodvibes I know you have been incredibly busy. :grouphug: As you know the girls enjoyed the movie, as did I. Saige is now a fave at our house!

I need to check out the latest links you sent on wheat. I fully believe it would be a great thing to eliminate from our diets, I need to figure out how. Noodles are cheap and filling, so they are a huge part of our diet. Fruits and veggies cost a lot around here and David's garden has been drowning, so pasta (FULL of wheat) is a staple. I wish I was there so you could cook for me! I need a cheap alternative to dwarf wheat, is there such a thing? Praying you and Billy are well! :grouphug: (AND Tiffy!!!)

Fantastic news about your Dad! We'll keep praying for the car situation and for Lisa to feel better.

Wonderful news about your dad. Praying for everything to continue to go in the right direction.

YAY!!!:cool1::cool1: Awesome news about your dad!!!

Praying that Pete is able to locate an affordable new vehicle soon.

reelmom, love the photos of your movie nights!!

Judy, glad to hear there is good news about your dad!
Praying for Lisa and hoping for some help with your vehicle issues

Oh Judy, what great news about your dad! Rejoicing in the goodness of God! Hoping and praying for better days ahead for Lisa. :goodvibes

Take care!

Its great to see good news from Judy! Now if a vehicle can be found for Pete and a job for Christian Judy might be able to get some sleep and not be on Disboards at all hours of the day or night........well, that is when the computer works :)

Great news about your Dad!!! Hope it continues!! Continued prayers for Lisa! Really hope she starts feeling better soon!

Great news about your Dad. Praying for Lisa to feel better.

Thinking of you and your family. Praying for the girls to feel better, a newer car, a job for Christian, and for your Dad. Prayer going up for you for strength and mercy. Praying for David also because I don't want to leave him out.

So good to hear the news about your dad, Judy.
I want to Thank you all for the good wishes about my Dad. He had a rough afternoon/evening yesterday. He went to bed early and said he would call the MD if he was no better today...I don't quite believe he will though, he is stubborn. Thank you for praying about our car and house issues, for my wonderful children and just for letting me know you care!:hug::hug: I am VERY thankful for you all !!!

Hi,

I popped into the dis boards to send you a message and I was SO excited to see you all are going back to Florida!! party: That is so exciting and could not have happened to a nicer person!! :goodvibes :banana::banana:

I got all caught up. I loved the Jungle Book Movie Night!! The meat thing made me laugh, how cute. :rotfl2: Sorry to hear the kids have been feeling sick, that's no fun. Sending prayers to you and your family for your dad, the girls feeling better and a new car. :car: I hope that these blessings will come soon.

Sorry about the computer issues. I can relate and I hope that you are up and running smoothly soon. :surfweb:

You may be wondering what I stopped by to send you a message about. Well, I was so excited to open the mail a few days ago and get the book I made about Mallory's Wish Trip. :wizard:princess: I went to a website that turns website posts into a book. So I know have a hardcover book of our Pre-trip and Trip Report including all the picture. :woohoo::cloud9::love: I would not have that it if it wasn't for you. :worship: You encouraged me to finish the trip report and were such a great friend to me. Now I have a complete keepsake our family will treasure forever!! :lovestruc Thank you so much for that!!!

Okay I am "all in" to following your trip report!! :surfweb: I can't wait to see the next movie night, hear the plans for Florida and keep up with how you all are doing. That is SO cool you are going to volunteer at GKTW!! As a wish family do you also get to spend a day there? I think I remembered hearing something like that when we were there.

Until next time ,

Madeline
Mallory's Mom

MADELINE!!!! :welcome::welcome::welcome: You made my day when I read this the other day! I think of Mallory and your sweet family all of the time and would dearly LOVE to see some pics!!! You all hold such a special place in my heart and I was thrilled you finished your TR! It can be daunting to come back from a wish trip and start back in with all of the medical stuff. Now it is a special book for Mallory to have always and to share with others as well, how special is that!?!!

Yes ma'am, as a wish family you can ALWAYS return as a Welcome Back family and do EVERYTHING you did on the wish trip (except sleep there, sadly...and get pizza at night. My kids thought that was the COOLEST thing, Free pizza delivered after 10 PM at night)!

I truly AM glad to see you back on the DISboards!!!Could there be a trip in your near future??? popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

Its time for that young lady to get better, I hope the newest meds work fast and furious for her.
Me too!
Great news about your dad. I'm so sorry to hear that Lisa is not doing ok. Hopefully they will get things straightened out for her on Monday. I just feel so badly for her that she has to suffer through the weekend with such a nasty infection. I hope the different antibiotics and steroids get her some relief soon and start working. Continuing to pray for all the other needs as well.
Thanks Tink!!! Praying for JJ!!!
It breaks my heart that Lisa is still so ill. Wasn't it last year she spent most of the summer in the hospital? Very unfair.
Thank you.
Hope she gets better quickly now after the new meds. So sorry!
Praying all is well at your house! :cloud9:
Longtime lurker, recently joined the Dis. I love your TRs and you have a beautiful family, I hope Lisa gets better soon!
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome: THANK YOU for posting, that made me happy! Thank you for letting me know you are here!
Hope Lisa feels better soon
Thanks Emma, glad you are here!
So glad that you got good news about your dad. Hopefully with the new meds Lisa will start to get better too. Hope that ya'll have a good weekend and hopefully you aren't getting the rain and storms that we are here.

Thoughts and prayer to all that need them
The rain and storms have been terrible! I can't believe the damage being done by the rain. Praying for you!

Good morning Judy! :goodvibes Sorry to hear that Lisa is still so ill!! Sending lots of prayer her way. My eldest DS is having sinus surgery in August because he has chronic sinus infections. I used to get them all the time before my ENT sent me to an allergist and figured out that if it was green or had fur, I was allergic to it. I now take meds to control the allergies so I don't get the infections as much anymore. I hope the Lisa's new meds have her feeling better really quickly. Sinus infections are just rotten!
Thank you for your kind message Erika, I know you have a lot on your plate and understand. Please keep us posted on the surgery for your son so we can pray! Sinus infections ARE rotten and can actually be dangerous in some cases. I will keep you all in prayer.
My prayers continue for Lisa and the family! I hope the discount disney tickets help you get there at least for a couple days. Enjoy this beautiful day! 80s and sunny here! Ruth
Ruth, It always makes me happy to see you have logged on I know how busy you are! How are you feeling? I pray for you daily and hope for good things for you. The military tickets we are eligible for only discount the tickets by about 4%...definitely NOT in my budget. We WILL have a great time though!

JJ had a pretty good day yesterday! He is so excited for tonight. He can't wait to see the Disney Channel movie Teen Beach. Today we have to go grocery shopping. That is the only outing on tap. But we are getting snacks and food to take to the beach tomorrow! It's been over 2 years since we've had JJ at the beach. I don't even know where any of his sand toys are. We'll be leaving the house when it's time for his 6am meds.

I had looked into staying somewhere this weekend, but the rates are super high. Places we usually paid $75 a night were up around $200. Hoping he lasts til noon.

He had a seizure this morning. It wasn't bad, just odd. He was smelling things, probably part of his aura?

Judy I am sorry I have been absent from your report and only found this today on Mickeytoontown. I am so happy for your family that you are going back to Florida. We too are planning a trip 11/28_12/7, it is going to be our Christmas this year instead of presents. Of course my grandson's will still get a present, just not us grown ups. I have always wanted to see the lights and I have been having more mobility issues and now that I am retired money is tight so our Disney days may be coming to an end. Anyway I am back and will be following along.

Judy - your fingers HAVE to be exhausted today, it appears that your internet issues/computer issues are fixed :) Its great to have you back for your nightly updates, when you get on a roll, you get on a ROLL:cool1: I can't wait to see more of your movie nights, I would have LOVED the strawberries.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, I have to clean the house and pack for a trip to what I hope will be the cooler north.........anyone want to come help?

I hope all is well there today. I am sorry about your "friend" some people really don't get it.

I knew I must have missed something a few days ago...I missed your movie night!! I have never seen that movie but am going to see if I can hunt it down. We're studying American History this year. Do you think it's something my 10 year old might enjoy? I have a hard time getting him "into" history.

The boys cookies looked delish! And those apple pie bites, well I'm not surprised they disappeared so quickly! What a fun night! :goodvibes

Praying that your dad makes the call to the doctor if he's still not feeling well today. My dad's stubborn like that as well and worse yet he won't tell anyone he's in pain. My mother is a retired nurse and catches his "tells" thankfully. Pop had quadruple bypass 2 years ago and recently started having some chest pain again. Luckily my mother saw the signs and got his tush to the doctor, but otherwise he would have never said a thing! So frustrating!! :headache:

Morning Judy, My chickadees are coming home this weekend! I'll have two whole days with Lacey and Jesse! Some of John's folks are coming over Saturday and we're going to a local bbq restaurant. Sunday, my family is coming over and who knows what all will go on. We're a pretty silly bunch so it may be one of those "what happens in our household stays in our household". :lmao:

Hope that you have a great weekend!

Just popping on. We had a "groupon" type thing for 4 minor league baseball tickets for the price if 2 we had gotten. Just realized that with the team's schedule and Bill's approaching deployment this was about our last chance to do it all together. So it's Take Me Out to the Ball Game tonight! On our way to Zephyr Field with my folks.

Many prayers for all! I hope Lisa is growing stronger every day and that everyone else is doing well!

I totally get this -- and I only have one person with needs.

Any news on Owen?

Oh Judy (and Debbie) I so understand this. I have lost many friends who accused me of not nurturing our friendship enough because I have to put John and the kids first and all of their needs and the stress that goes with it takes up so much of my time.

Trying to catch up after 2 full weeks at the lake with company the whole time. Very hot in the 90's the last few days and of course no air up there. Loved movie night and all the great food. As much as I love Disney I have not seen many movies. Finally borrowed Monsters, Inc from my daughter as Sulley is a favorite character of mine. I even got a stuffed one for my Disney room. Glad to hear good news about your dad. I'll pray he continues to improve and also that Lisa can beat this sinus infection. I'm glad to hear she's getting better.
