There goes your dog sitter!:upsidedow

I'm not 100% sure she will do both and is just holding reservations till she makes up her mind...I'll be seeing her on Friday or Saturday, so I'll find out what her story is.

Monica, I put some round trip flight info into the system using Barcelona as the starting point as you suggested...and the rates were lower...using my non-stop British Airways flight too!

.

You know, I'm going to have to find a reliable dog sitter for these trips.

you could do what I do and leave your husband home with the dog(rabbit and turtle and other child) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No for real I get this. One of our biggest issues with travel it pet sitting. We are lucky to have alot of nephews (on my side) but they are costly

I'm going to contact a friend of mine and see if he can dog sit for both this trip and our trip this coming September.

We're so thrilled that Cheri is dog sitting in May. The dogs should consider themselves lucky, because I actually fly in a sitter.

It's a great compromise, Cheri gets a vacation in Chicago, and we are so urban here. Everything is so accessible and the El is only a couple of blocks away.

You know for luggage I am really trying to plan out for all 4 of us to have a rolling suitecase that can be carried on and one LARGE suitcase to check. Then we could check them or carry them on except for the one large suitcase and then also take duffle style that can be used for "over flow"

I am thinking for formal nights - accessories! I can change the same outfit around depending on the accessories I use. This trip is going to take a little more planning for clothes becuase of limited space. I would love it more if I could get everything in ONE large suitcase - but I know that is dreaming. I think though I will invest in one or two really nice outfits that can be mixed and matched for everyone and then use the laundry

We went to Europe in 2007 and spent 3 weeks there using the train (and one plane) and each of us had a backpack and one carry on size suitcase and we made it - the only problem I had was I ended up wearing white to my sister's wedding in Austria that was planned on the spur of the moment (literally decided while we were traveling to Europe) and I had only one dress with me - but it was a casual wedding and in the pictures realized my brother also wore white linen shirt and he lives there and could have worn something else - the picture of the 3 of us all in white to some degree is actually really nice. Oh and she knew that was all I had before I went and she said to come anyway - ther were only 25 of us there (including the 4 of us and the bride and groom). So this time I will make sure I have a pastel I can mix and match with my white linen skirt.

Anyway - - - - sorry for rambling

Krisann

Yeah, we'll need to do creative packing for sure!

 I'm official...........................

Yay, welcome aboard!
This was at the Mona Lisa Restaurant that our DCL shore excursion in Cabo took us to. It was beautiful! (my hair is a bit windblown :lmao: )

We were at that restaurant as part of our tour too. It was a great view, but SO windy!!

As mentioned previously, it's too early to book airfare for April 2010. However, looking at April 2009 fares - Aer Lingus really does have some great one-way fares. If I were to do this cruise, I would seriously consider doing a stopover or two in Ireland on the way from Barcelona to Chicago. I could see flying from Barcelona to Dublin for a few nights, then Dublin to Shannon for 4-5 nights, then finally a non-stop to Chicago (or Boston or JFK - for you east coasters). The multi-city fare for those 3 flights is $417 - based on Saturday Barcelona-Dublin (morning or evening flight), Monday Dublin-Shannon, and Saturday Shannon-Chicago. Of course - this year's fares bear no relation to the fares in 2010, but it's fun to dream of the possibilities...especially if you have the travel time.

This year's one-way fare on Aer Lingus from Barcelona-Chicago on Saturday morning (April 25) is $253!!!

Or maybe we should plan a trip to Barcelona sooner, just to get ready...I can wish can't I????

Hey all...

I'm back home and in the next couple of days I'll update things and then ask you to go and check if I've got anything right... ;)

Hi everyone,
I am not on this cruise (yet) :rolleyes1 , but my DH and I are thinking about one of the TA cruise. I am just curious about the reasons you selected this cruise instead of the Westbound, was it the weather or the ports, etc.? I am a little concerned about the weather in April. I would appreciate any opinions, experienced advice, etc. Thanks...Vicki

Alot of us here sailed on the WB PC repo together... Some are also doing the WB, but I think this one has the most of us so far... :goodvibes

I am still deciding whether or not to do this cruise, but I'm not interested in the westbound. My birthday falls during this cruise, and I prefer the eastbound's extra European port plus an overnight in Barcelona to the westbound's two Caribbean ports. The EB is also less expensive (booked right now) than the WB for the least expensive cabins. I expect the weather will be cooler in April than it would be in September, but for me - it's this Disney cruise or no Disney cruise.

Hi Vicki!!

How are you (& your wrist) doing?

I chose this one over the WB due to $ - there are Thieves on both cruises so I knew I'd have friends on either. $ was really the only deciding factor.

Are you still doing a baltic w/ DCL?

I chose this cruise because of the price, and also because originally I was planning to go with my twin brother and he will likely be transferring to a new college during the WB.

But now I'm going with my dad, which is good because now the only school schedule I have to work around is my own. Also, it's good because I love my daddy and we don't get enough time to hang out as it is, let alone when I (hopefully) transfer to an out-of-state college this fall.

I'm a bit worried about weather, too, because I didn't even think about rough seas! I'm especially worried about Parrot Cay, because on my Bahamian cruises that has been the place I've felt most queasy. Also I was checking out the average temps for our ports and finding that they are in the 40s-50s at that time of year. But I've decided that nothing's going to stop me, and by golly I'm taking this cruise!

Great attitude!! I'm nervous too - I can get  from watching movies/tv sometimes (depends on how they're filmed)

I love to travel w/ my dad (well, both parents really). He's going w/ me on my Baltic cruise this May (and yes....I will be 40 this year :lmao: )

We originally booked the Westbound Transatlantic. I wanted the EB as coming from Europe, jetlag won't be an issue. Before we are able to adapt to the time difference, we are slowly but surely heading back to our own time zone. DH thought the weather would be nicer on the WB and again coming from Europe, the two extra Caribbean ports are a big incentive. So we booked the WB as soon as we could. Then we had a look at the one way fares and we figured with what we save being able to buy return fares plus the fact that we have to eat and drink at home as well, we would break about even doing the EB as well. So that is the plan. We are just waiting for the right moment to book this.

Corinna

I booked the EB because
1. it is in April - out of hurricane season. Yes, I know the ships do an excellent job of getting out of the way, but still - I didn't want to have to worry about one.
2. European ports instead of Carribean ports (except CC of course ;) ) - plus the overnight in Barcelona
3. I'd rather worry about getting to the plane to come home rather than worrying about getting to Barcelona and then to the ship.
4. I might be able to extend my trip by flying to London (or Dublin) and spending a few days there before coming home - since I'm already over there :goodvibes

I picked this one over the WB one because of the extra stops in Europe. I've been to the Carribbean plenty of times, but never to Europe.

I chose this one because of:
  • Stops in Europe
  • Barcelona
  • The Eastbound is sailing during the High Holidays

I found that if I took a Bonine before I went to dinner there, I had no problems and it was on the night after we left Cabo and it was the roughest (and it wasn't bad at all...) night we had... I plan to pack lots of it... (and drink Nan's Rum...)
