Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

Julez, so glad your day turned around! What a bummer about your hours, I've heard about that happening to other people before. They give up some hours because they have to for one reason or another and they can't them back. Sigh. It's a bummer.

Jen, that is a cute story about Megs and the bird. I drove home with my windows rolled down and it was so nice! I'm so ready for warmer weather.

Jess, hopefully nothing will happen to my DIS. I'll survive if it does...somehow. :lmao:

Good morning gnomies!! :)

CP-how are you feeling?

Julez- so glad your day turned around yesterday. It's supposed to be 60 here today... I can't wait!

Jen (MM) - so sorry that you're worrying about Tom's job. How did your conversation go last night?

Jen (JJ)- how are your dead worms? ;)

Paula- splurge on yourself!! You deserve it!! Oh and, ahem, I haven't really started packing yet.

LL might lose her DIS at work access??? :faint:

So... it's Wednesday... time for question of the week. Do any of you get the WEtv network? No, that's not the question. But they've been running last week and this week a Disney Dream Weddings show. It really is almost an infomercial for having a wedding there but I've still watched it twice. According to the show, you can have a ceremony just about anywhere in the parks. That, coupled with something I read on another thread that I can't find now that said that someone was planning a vow renewal or wedding at Pirates (I think that was the ride... it was an attraction in MK) makes me wonder:

If you could plan a wedding or vow renewal anywhere inside the parks, where would you have it?

Actually I'd want to do it in my bare feet on the beach at the Poly:cloud9:

But since you said IN a theme park..... I'm going to go with the gazebo in Great Britain at Epcot. They'll have to move the Beatles stuff til afterward..but then they can play for the reception;)

Paula

I'm here! I'm here! OMG I'M HERE!!

Phew. I had trouble sleeping last night. I'm going to ignore what that says about my life and just be happy that I AM HERE. :lmao:

I'm going to have to think about my vow renewal.

Still feeling less than my regular self :(.

If I could plan a vow renewal anywhere in the parks...hmmm...I think I would choose Morocco in Epcot! What great photos that would make!

Paula, I love the idea of barefoot at the Poly! :cloud9:

The British Invasion do certainly put on a good show!!!

Whew! I am so glad! I was so worried about that for you!

Good Morning gang!!!

Well my evening last night was much better than the little freak out session I endured during the afternoon. There has not been any final decision made yet at Tom's work about the cuts---said it could be as little as a week off without pay----Gnomies, let's all pray that is what happens instead of the five figure pay loss that the 20% would end up being--we could live with that for sure. Being the wonderful hubby that he is, he apologized for getting me so upset, and calmed me down by reiterating that whatever it is we will endure and get through it like so many challenges we have faced together before-and when looking at the big picture, I know he is right. Now I feel incredibly bad for freaking out and being upset about the whole situation---I know there are others out there dealing with far worse right now, so I need to stop complaining! But I guess I really am only human, and those freak out/pity party/vent sessions are just a part of how we react. Does anyone else struggle with these conflicts of your conscience as much as I do???

Anyway, to make the evening fun, we went and had a campout dinner night in our lower level family room---we had grilled cheeseburgers with lots of picnic-type foods and finished it off with homemade chocolate milkshakes!!! It was SO YUMMY!!! Tom rigged the TV so we could watch American Idol, USA win a really exciting game in the WBC, and the UK basketball game all at the same time. (Megan REALLY enjoys AI--she tells us all the time she is going to be on that show when she grows up---and I don't doubt it!!! ;o) Right now her favorite is Adam--because "he paints his fingernails!") I thought the show was pretty good last night....can't actually figure out who I think will go home. I don't know how you all felt last night, but in our household we actually liked Adam's performance of the song---he has a very talented way of using his voice as an instrument. Tom and I actually played his performance back several times because we liked it so much. We liked a LOT of other performances too---we have too many favorites to count! It will be interesting to see how it all turns out!

Today's question---This one is SO hard!!! I saw that show too----Tom saw me watching it one night and said, "Knowing Megan, that is what she will want to do when she gets married!!!"

Can I pick two? Because I am having such a hard time deciding---

Vow Renewal #1---On the beach at Poly at night right before Wishes starts so that as it finishes up, we end the whole thing to the beauty of Wishes---oh how I love that show!!! I always cry!!! SUCH A SAP, I KNOW!!!

Vow Renewal #2---Even though our anniversary is in late July, I would want to go down during the holiday season sometime in December and renew our vows in front of Cinderella's Castle with those beautiful Christmas lights on that they do now--so obviously at night too! Hey--we could do it right before Wishes too!!! ;o)

Forgot to mention---CP, I hope you get better girlie!!! I am worried about you!

LL---so glad you are here--did they figure out what happened?

Julez--so glad your afternoon was better---did you see any houses that perked your interest?

Christine---GET PACKING GIRL!!!!

Jen, I am so glad the freakout was for nothing. Everything will be just fine and work itself out, I am sure of it.

I don't know what happened, don't even have an email or anything so they probably got it before it did any damage. Yay!

I was worried for you!!!! I once thought my DISing caused another laptop to crash and die because it was one of the last things we did on it before it all went south, so I was worried that it might HAVE been your DISing that gave your computer the virus!!! I am SO relieved for you right now!

Me too. It helps me get through my day and I need all the help I can get. :lmao:

Jen, I am glad that your evening was so much better!!! :goodvibes Thanks for the well wishes -- I just wish it would go away. :sad2:

LL, I agree -- the DIS definitely helps me get through my day!

I love how you named the Jen's JJ and MM, I think that will totally work seperating them!

C! I've been watching the WEtv channel too! I meant to ask everyone that the other night if you've seen the dream weddings they've been doing.
Of course this is a difficult question. Lurkyloo's wedding..I love her choice of Morocco with the colors. But for me...hmm..I'd definitely have to think about that!! ;) Great question though C!:thumbsup2

YAY LL!!! :rotfl: Girl, I was up half the night thinking about YOU losing your DIS. THANK GOD you're still here! :woohoo:

I have to say that I really wish I had stuck to my guns and planned a wedding in Disney. Don't get me wrong, Marc & I's Wedding was lovely but I felt like it wasn't for Marc & I, it was planned the way it was to make family and friends happy. I wanted an intimate wedding, in fact I even wanted the ceremony to just be Marc & I, our parents and brothers but I couldn't even have that without being made to feel guilty. Marc has promised me that we can have a vow renewal at anytime I want, just me and him but honestly that is the last thing I want. I don't want to ever plan a wedding again. :lmao:

With all that said, I think I would have a vow renewal in England. I love the way it looks with the cobblestone and it just seems like a lovely place to get married.

I had posed the question to my dad about having a disney wedding and his answer was completely practical. I understand that most of the disney weddings, for what all you want, can be on the upwards of $20,000. Dad told me that if I skip out on it and have a "nice" wedding locally, that he would instead give me what it would have cost to have the disney wedding as a house downpayment. Of course I said yes, and he did say that we can always look into a vow renewal, which of course we will completey do!

I'd probably have the wedding at the Beach Club under the gazebo just because the water, the atmosphere, it's Dbf and I all the way or on the beach of the Poly (so many of you agree with that choice for your own!). I LOVE though how they show the drinks/desserts at night watching Illuminations, it's Dbf and I's favorite fireworks!

I would have totally done that if someone had offered that to me!! :rotfl2:

I am just not a Wedding person I think. It's one thing if you have unlimited funds to do something beautifully but when I watch these Wedding shows where people go into debt for Weddings make me cringe. Marc & I as little as we paid for our Wedding sucked us back into the credit card debt and it's so frustrating because we were doing very well before having to pay for the Wedding. Oh well. I can't think about it or it makes me really angry. :rolleyes1

I love the DIS definitely helps my day!!!

Jen...glad that you were able to have a great talk with your hubby!! My hubby is very helpful in helping alleviate my stress when I have it!!! I hope you are all having a great day!!

C...you're still not packed LOL!!!! Get on it girl!!

3 months after Tom and I got engaged... I found out I was pregnant with Kyle. Both our families bailed on what they said they'd help with for the wedding. My parents said we didn't deserve a "real" wedding party since we had put the cart before the horse, so to speak.

I was in college (aka broke) Tom was delivering pizzas for Dominos (aka nearly broke) and we had a baby on the way. And we now had to pay for our wedding all by ourselves.

We paid a grand total of $524 for our wedding... that included my dress and his tux, flowers, invitations, a 'reception' (snacks/fingerfoods in the church lounge that I made the day before) and a cake (from giant eagle LOL!!)

I don't regret it at all... it would have been very foolish for us to spend a ton of $$ we didn't have on a big wedding...or even an average wedding:rotfl2:

now that I CAN spend some cash.... We will be renewing our vows on our 15th anniversary... I just can't decide where??? WDW??? Hawaii??? or Tom's pick....Vegas in jeans:lmao:
