No wbta 2013

There have been rumors of the Magic doing everything except going to the Moon!

I still feel that our Magic will return to do a WBTA. Maybe in the future sometime DCL will try to do some more exotic cruises, but I don't think it's a feasible plan right now. The only thing I could see them trying to do would be to keep the Magic in Europe and do some sailings there. Yet, I still don't feel they'll do that. I don't think they can fill the ships enough. Yes, they are commanding some pretty high prices right now, but I suspect it's not something they could keep up consistently.

I really feel we'll hear something definitive by early April. (again just my feelings, I have no inside info)

Doing Asia from Europe wouldn't make sense. :confused3 LA, maybe.

I don't think it would be too farfetched. Many cruise lines opt to take one or more ships from Europe through the Suez Canal to ports in the Mid-East, down the coast of india and over to Australia or Southeast Asia. Doha, Muscat and Dubai have all just built new cruise facilities and are the 'hottest' new ports for cruisers who want something besides the same old Caribbean and Med. Australia has a lot of DCL fans who would love a ship based there through their summer. Or they could take advantage of combining cruises with Hong Kong Disneyland (probably not Tokyo since the ports nearest there are very expensive).

Anyway, maybe not in 2013, but it is a possibility. A DCL senior officer told me that in long range planning the Magic was designated the ship for 'exotic itineraries'. No hints as to what that actually meant but with four ships in their niche market and their high prices, they can't keep relying on their limited Bahamas and Caribbean ports forever.

Having done the WBTA, we might be open to a little different "Magic"...

Hi Val & Bob welcome from Michael & Trish, 2 of your table mates from the 2010 WBTA, we would love to see you on board this cruise.:welcome:

There is a rumor that the ship will dry dock in Venice but it is only a rumor, also rumors of starting the cruise from Venice or Barcelona, ending in P.C. Miami, Galveston or possibly even N.Y. so it is still guesswork until DCL put us out of our misery and release the itinarey.

TOO funny! That's like my German! My neighbors in Germany used to call what we spoke Gerglish.:rotfl2: Strangers would know I was a foreigner, but they couldn't place from where. We're going to get along great!

(I didn't marry my honey for his housekeeping skills either, but I'm sure glad he's got 'em! Less work for me.)

Michael & Trish, thank you for your warm welcome, it will be wonderful to see both of you again. I am hoping for NY over Miami and definately over Galveston. If I had my wish, and the ship couldn't just take me home, I would vote for New Orleans. Sorry Galveston but New Orleans, while a full day up the river from the sea, would be a much better city to play in before or after a cruise.

Linda - we will be old pals by the time this cruise rolls around.

I like the way you think:thumbsup2

I'm liking the way YOU think, too!

I'd be open to more exotic ports and itineraries, but gosh darnnit, I want my WBTA first!

Actually what I want most of all is for DCL to put us out of our misery and let us know either way. Even though I'm thinking it will be April before we know, I really want to know now!

Well, DH and I are going to do one of 2 cruises in fall of 2013, while I can still get around without too much bother. European surfaces, well the places I want to visit, aren't as easy for me to walk on. We did the Baltic/St. Petersburg a few years ago, and there were just too many cobblestone streets on our excursions on that cruise! We really want either the Disney WBTA or the Princess cruise that does the Holy Land and Egypt. We can wait a little longer to book. Because of the tensions in Egypt and in Israel, this WBTA is my first choice.

I do think they need another area of the world as part of their usual itinerary, but I'm hoping that they do this one more WBTA.:goodvibes

You were typing this as I was typing my post. You said it better than I did!!!!:goodvibes

We'll be in Jordan and Egypt in April. Really looking forward to it; will let you know how it goes.

perhaps they could do the Ffjords from Southampton which would be fantastic for the UK customer, well anywhere from Southampton really would work or Dover, any UK port!!

As far as Flights are concerned they are so expensive. The best solution for us would be do WBTA one year and EBTA the following buying a return ticket for each leg a one way is so expensive.

Annichan, I've been reading your food report - AMAZING!

Thank you! :flower3:
I have been slacking in finishing the one about our 2011 Med cruise, so in case that's the one you have been reading, please bear with me a little longer! :)

There have been rumors of the Magic doing everything except going to the Moon!

You're right, that would be an interesting itinerary (as long as it doesn't leave out of Galveston)! :thumbsup2

No seriously, I also find all those rumours a little unnerving and wish that Disney would finally go ahead and announce this WBTA, but I still really really think they will. I don't see them filling up the ship for more months of Med cruising (ship was/felt rather empty during our Med cruise last year), and I have a feeling they'll return her to the States and start their "exotic itineraries" from there, not from Europe. This is an American cruise line after all, and I think an overwhelmingly large percentage of guests are American (or Canadian). DCL would miss out on too many bookings by doing long expensive cruises that neither start nor end in the States ...

Sailing the seas! He has NEVER met the Mouse. That has to be changed!

When we first met, he said he'd never set foot on a ship. And if he ever did he would surely take a pocket-sized welding torch with him. I made him go on a mini cruise to Norway (just bought tickets, sent him on a little scavanger hunt to Kiel - by train, walking would have been a bit far - and told him he could come with me or stay behind and wait for me) and proposed to him at the Oslo fjord. We have done at least one of these mini cruises every year since then and spent our honeymoon on an 11-day Hurtigruten trip in December 2008.

We have never cruised a "real" cruiseline, the Mediterranean or the Caribbean - sound like a lot of firsts for us.

Ah, I see you have found a cat picture for us - they're so cute!

And I really like the story of how you proposed to your husband-to-be. If we do get to meet in person on this WBTA, I'm also looking forward to hearing a bit about your Hurtigruten trip, as that's something we also want to do some day.

We'll be in Jordan and Egypt in April. Really looking forward to it; will let you know how it goes.

I know others who are going later this spring too! I'm excited for you both and hope you have an amazing trip!:goodvibes

GOOD Morning, Happy Wannabe Cruisers!

Hoping for good news soon, but with Disney? Who knows!!!!

Wish it was possible to buy a round trip, use the eastbound leg myself and pass the westbound leg to some European Dis-er doing the eBTA. Like THAT's going to happen. :(

Off to make some Birthday cards. TTFN

Hi everyone, happy Sunday. :goodvibes

We (Val & DH Bob) booked the EBTA when they didn't announce a WBTA. Now we are thinking we might do both. Our excuse is it will be cheaper to buy round-trip air tickets.

I have to admit I didn't read all 51 pages of this thread. Has there been any talk of the ship leaving from some place other then Barcelona? The ship was built in Trieste, Italy so I wonder if it might go into drydock there.

Welcome Val & Bob, I will add you to the first post. :)

Are you sure Holly? I thought i'd read that was on the itinerary for 2014. ;)

Good Morning, Happy Cruiser Wannabes!

Just another little bump from chilly Upstate New York. I wish we'd get some news, so the planning could begin in earnest!

Happy day, all.

DW and I are with you Holly. We want our WBTA, we want our WBTA, we want our WBTA!!! Still waiting Disney - please give us an answer!

Going to the moon would be an interesting trip Holly. Do you suppose there would be a Pirate Night with fire works on this moon trip???:woohoo:
