No Wait Times & Crying at the Beach Club- A February 2012 trip report!

Hi! I'm reading along now, too. I've planned our first trip to WDW for September. Now I'm just reading trip reports to pass the time and get more ideas for fun things to do :)

I'm so glad he found his wallet. That would have hung over me the whole trip! That was one expensive taxi ride!

I'm in! I can't wait to read about the rest of your trip! Will's face on Buzz is too funny! My DH always kicks my butt on that ride too! :thumbsup2

Hi, I'm here!
I have major PDD....my last trip was October 2011!

I have to say as soon as I read about your husband losing his wallet, I made a mad dash to look for my credit card...I use it at work in the cafe and I have the horrible habit of putting it back in my pants...not my wallet...so many a day I am at Wal-Mart and in line and realize - OMG, my credit card is in my pants pocket at HOME....you would think I would learn my lesson! anyway, found mine and SOOO glad your husband's wallet was returned....it must have been such an awful feeling....hope the beer helped and that was probably the best $125 you could spend!!!

What a great morning in MK...you guys got so many rides in!

Ok, finally caught up now!:thumbsup2

First off, I'm super jealous that you live in my dream city! My DH and I both adore Charleston, and I've been going there at least once a year since the mid 90s to my family's place on Kiawah. I'm not sure how we're going to swing it, but one of these days we will move there! I'm super bummed right now because my aunt and uncle are heading down next week and I'm suck here. Boo.:headache:

So glad the wallet situation was taken care of, but OUCH on the cab ride. I'll have to remember that!!

Glad you got to enjoy the early morning fun at MK, I love walking through the park when it's less crowded. Nighttime is great for that as well!

Can't wait to see what's in store next:goodvibes

Ok- back to the story!!!

So we headed back to the hotel after walking around Downtown Disney for a little while. Will decided to go "get a lift" in at the gym. (I just think that's funny). So he did that then found that the gym at the Beach Club has a hot tub inside it- needless to say, I was in the room watching the Disney travel channel, checking email and attempting to take a nap for a few hours after he left! :D

I thought now would be a good time to take some pictures of the room since I didn't get to take them right when we walked in, due to the WALLET INCIDENT! haha. Here are a few pics:

HPIM0855.jpg

Sooo Will eventually came back from the gym/hot tub, we both showered and then he kept going on and on about how the Beach Club marketplace smelled like REALLY good pizza and we should get some. We had dinner reservations at the California Grill at 9:15 that night, so I thought we def. needed a snack before we hit the park again. :)

We walked down to the Marketplace and I took a few pictures.

HPIM0863.jpg

And now, the time came when I knew I would be returning to Disney World with Will many times throughout my life- he walked over with a set of Mickey ears and said "I need these."

HPIM0865.jpg

YEP!!! HE WAS HOOKED!!!! :) Love it. :cool1::cloud9:

So we got the Mickey ears for him, a few other magnets and such for family back home, and then we got a flatbread pizza to split as we walked to the bus.

Here's a few shots from the bus stop…

HPIM0867.jpg

I'll continue the rest soon!!! (P.S.- Isn't Will the cutest?! hahaha)

We headed back to the Magic Kingdom and Will was really impressed with how pretty Main St. USA looked at night. We tried to get a few pictures, but none of them really do it justice. (You know what I mean if you've been there.) :)

and OMG Photopass, thank you for this photo:

Loveeee <3

So we then bought LIGHT UP Mickey ears that must have been newly for sale at the parks, b/c the rest of the night cast members would stop us and say "OMG I love your ears! Where did you get them." We pointed to the cart in the middle of Main St. "RIGHT THERE!!" hahaha. It was kind of cool.

HPIM0884.jpg

Ok, so I really wanted go to Carousel of Progress (it's just so nostalgic! haha) but by the time we walked over it was closed…or looked like it was closing. We settled for the People Mover instead- I really enjoyed this….i mean REALLY, I thought it was cool going into Space Mountain….I think I must be getting old if I love the People Mover! HAHA!

Anyway we did that, walked around a little more, took a few pics.

By then it was time for fireworks so we watched the amazing show- about halfway through I started getting nervous that we would have trouble getting on the monorail after the fireworks in time for our ADR- so we watched the end of the fireworks from right outside the park by the monorail station.

HPIM0895.jpg

See the fireworks behind him?

By this point it had started to lightly rain, so it would out PERFECTLY. We just hopped on the monorail and headed to the Contemporary Resort and into the California Grill. It was an AMAZING dinner. HIGHLY recommended. I had the Dragon Roll sushi and it was amazing. Will had the bison with truffle mac and cheese and he said his was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is AMAZING- such a pretty view. This picture is HORRIBLE….but they have a viewing/observation deck to take photos.

HPIM0878_2.jpg

This would be the perfect place for a proposal, btw!!! (I think proposing in front of the castle is a little cheesy- but….Disney's Disney so to each his own :)

Soooo after the great dinner, we went back to the Magic Kingdom, went on Space Mountain again with no wait, got some Mickey ice cream bars, did some shopping then headed back to the resort. What a great day.

HPIM0882.jpg

(Will played baseball in college so I made him pose for this pic. hehe)

Day 3 at Hollywood Studios is coming next!!!!

So excited to read a TR of a fellow Charlestonian and Disney lover!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes Can't wait to read more :)

Loving your TR! You guys are just the cutest couple. We will be staying at the Beach Club in June for the first time. Can't wait to read more and see more pics!:)

Love those light up Ears! And great idea about stepping outside to finish watching Wishes. You would've been stuck in the crowd otherwise for sure :)

The Beach Club rooms look so pretty. But much smaller than Poly. I'm glad with 4 adults and a 5 yr old we chose the Poly. Would love to stay at BC sometime with just hubby and me.

Ok, so I have good news- the Disney Depression that sunk in heavily about 2 weeks after I got back from the trip has subsiding. I think the planning consumes you and becomes so much a part of your everyday life before you go, and then you are just trying to get back to normal when you return....and then you have to find a NEW NORMAL, without Disney planning as a part of your life! haha.

Anyway, I at least need to finish up our trip report!!

So on Day 3 we awoke early again, showered, got coffee and walked out to the docks to catch the boat to Hollywood Studios-

HPIM0886-1.jpg

HPIM0887.jpg

It's about a 5 minute ride- we hopped off and got up to the gate right as they started letting people in.

We then proceeded to run to Rock n Roller coaster! Yippie!!!
HPIM0888.jpg

We loved it, so we grabbed a fast pass to ride it later. Then we headed to Tower of Terror, got a fast pass for Midway Mania, Great Movie Ride, Muppets, Star Wars....pretty much every ride was done before lunch.

HPIM0903.jpg

HPIM0896.jpg

HPIM08942.jpg

HPIM0904.jpg

Then we headed to our ADR at 50s Prime Time Cafe

HPIM0907.jpg

HPIM0910.jpg

Yes, we got the drinks with the light up ice cubes. haha.

Next we did a little shopping.

HPIM0911.jpg

HPIM0913.jpg

Will got a few Vinylmations this trip to "start his collection" lol.

Next we saw the Indiana Jones stunt show.

HPIM0918.jpg

Then it looked like it was going to rain so we headed back to the resort for some rest/hot tub time.

HPIM0920.jpg

We swam a little, rested then showered and headed back to Hollywood Studios- we planned to eat at Pizza Planet but it was closed by the time we got back to the park (Will looked at the wrong link when he googled it to see their hours that night during Extra Magic Hours) but it was no big deal- we ended up eating a really good dinner at the ABC commissary- I think Will had a burger with fried shrimp on it! Yum! I also thought it was funny that I ordered 2 bud lights to go with our dinner and the lady at the register asked me "Who will be carrying this to your table?" (Will was in the bathroom.) I said "Me..." she said "You're not old enough to drink!" I said "I'm 27!!!!" lol. I think the light up Mickey ears took 10 years off my age!!! If only I could wear them in the REAL WORLD! hahahaha.

Anyway, we walked aroundddd after dinner...
HPIM0934.jpg

Learned how to draw Eyore from Winnie the Pooh at the Art of Animation place....

HPIM0937.jpg

Rode rock n roller coaster again, used our fast passes to go straight to the front of the midway mania ride, then called it a night!

No drama for day 3! :)

I know a lot of people just go ahead and start planning a new trip to get over the depression, but I think I'll probably wait until I have children of my own to go back to Disney. It is amazing and fun and I think everyone should go without kids at least once, but there are other places I feel like we should spend the amount of money we spent at Disney on- like Europe, for instance! lol!.

Day 4 started with Mickey waffles from room service.
HPIM0944.jpg

Then we went to the Animal Kingdom.

It was rainy and SO DEAD that it was almost creepy. There were no lines at all and everybody just looked sleepy lol.

HPIM1000.jpg

Will was a lot more excited by all the animals than I was. Don't get me wrong, animals are great....but I'd just prefer something more for the amount of money- I can go to the zoo at home. I know, I know, bah hambug- but I think the cloudy, rainy dead park didn't help fuel my fire that day. haha.

At least Will was very entertained!

HPIM1013.jpg

Ok, I did like the Dinosaur ride though!!

HPIM1026.jpg

HPIM1030.jpg

Everest was very tame- still fun though!!! We didn't see the Yeti though- I guess it was broken?!?!? Has this happened to anyone else?

HPIM1066.jpg

Anywayyy, was fun, we literally did everything before noon then headed to Downtown Disney for the second time because Will and I wanted to look at the Vinylmations at D-Street since we "started a collection" now. lol!

Sooo I got a squid....that it now in Will's room....

HPIM1091.jpg

lol. And I swear we are not alcoholics....we just seemed to have had a drink everyday on this trip! And took pictures of it! LOL. Yikes!

Anyway....we bought some legos like 12 year olds....
HPIM1093.jpg

HPIM1095.jpg

HPIM1097.jpg

Yep.

Then went back to the hotel, showered, and went to dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Not to end on a bad note, but I don't recommend it :/ Way too expensive for Ruby Tuesdays quality food. Yikes!

Overall, we had a wonderful trip and can't wait to go back.

<3

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I'm following along! That's so great that they could find Will's wallet! I know how stressful it can be to loose a wallet, especially in Disney(or an airplane)! How was the Beirgarten? i wanted to eat there my past trip but couldn't get in.:sad1:

Wow, that was a short trip report! ;) It looks like you guys had a great time. I understand what you mean about the disney depression. The planning of the trip takes up so much time and then we you get back, its like "well now what?". Its really too bad you didn't enjoy yachstmans, we went on our last trip and it was of favorite meal. Maybe they just had an off night? :confused3

Hi Holly, I really enjoyed your trip report. We're headed to the world in 6 days! I live in Summerville we're practically neighbors. :goodvibes
I also know what you mean about the post trip depression. I'm sure it will hit me too.:sad1:

Hey!!! Did you have a good time??? Now it's been 5 months since my trip and I am feeling a little nostalgic today and missing it so bad! The summer months remind me of going to Disney as a kid-- I envy the people who are planning a trip in the next few weeks! So fun!

Hey! The beirgarten was overpriced in my opinion- I mean I actually enjoyed the food but Will likes things much more plain and simple and he really wasn't happy. You basically are paying for the fun environment there I think. :)

Hi everyone!!! I just wanted to update my trip report with the happy news that Will and I are now ENGAGED! :) :) :):love::love::love::cool1::thumbsup2

Who thinks we should plan an engagement trip to WDW!?!?!?!? :woohoo:
