It isn't much of a storm but it is amazing how much trouble a 1/4" of ice can cause. There have been over 400 accidents so far in our metro area this morning. State patrol advising no unnecessary travel. So much for my trip to Ikea today :lmao:. Actually it is supposed to warm up this afternoon so the roads should be better later.

Major indications of a blizzard on Wednesday though :scared1:. I think I will pick up a turkey and fixings, just in case.

Would you hate me if I told you that we have few clouds and about 70 degrees outside?

Seriously, I wish we could somehow combine the two, I would gladly take some of your cold and give you enough sun to melt the ice so you could go shopping. It just need to be cold for the holidays. Sometimes Florida can be such a drag. Who wants a warm Christmas and Thanksgiving? I guess some do, but I don't.

Perhaps a move to a warmer part of the country? ;)

Not a chance. We rarely get ice storms, I LOVE a good blizzard-we haven't had enough of them in the past 15+ years if you ask me, PLUS, we don't have creepy, crawly things like snakes that when they bite you they KILL you. No thanks. I LOVE MN and I like winter-I just don't like ice storms when I want to go shopping :lmao:.

I would have a hard time getting into the holiday spirit in the south. The cold and the snow help make the season for me. It's 33 degrees out right now and by noon or so it will be warm enough to melt the ice.

Got into an icestorm on a trip to Disney once. Applied my brakes in Gary and came to a stop in Indianapolis.

I so agree! I will take the 4 months of cold, snow and ice to not have to worry about massive bugs or lethal snakes/gators.

We had company last night and they left at 11 - they live about 3 miles away. One of them got stuck in a long line of spun out cars - she got home just after 1230 this morning.

We were going to go to IKEA today, too! Bet it's nice and quiet there today, too!!!

The Schwan's guy was just here and said the roads are getting better so we are going to try for IKEA. If they are bad, we will just come back home.

I love cold, snowy days too. Right now its 0F (-17C) & snowing and it's been like that for the last 4 days. :cold: My daughters have a few more practice runs and then we'll all be inside in front of a nice warm fire.

Ice, I could live without because we drive into the mountains a few times a week for skiing. But with a good set of winter tires, we do ok. It's other people's poor driving & all season tires we worry about. I've seen a few cars sliding about this week.

Hope the ice melts soon in your part of the world!

Drove to Ikea and back, the roads are pretty wet but not at all slippery any longer. It was funny reading the comments in the paper about people out driving while the roads WERE slippery complaining about how the DOT didn't get the roads sanded fast enough for them--dude, if it is that icy (and it was) DOT can't get the trucks out either :rolleyes1.

Ikea only had one shelf that we needed (we needed 4) so we will have to go back in a few days (hopefully they will have them by Wednesday). We are putting a shelving unit in DS15's closet.

Wait, wait wait...what?? :scared1: I haven't heard about this. I guess I better watch the news tonight. We're planning on going to Ikea and the MOA on Wed (dbil and his gf are coming up from Ohio). Crap...I hope the weather holds up!

We ran to Woodbury earlier and within a mile stretch of 94 there were at least 6 cars off the side of the road. It was messy for awhile, but by the time we headed home, it was mostly just wet and rainy.

I am NOT prepared for a blizzard, however, more snow (just a couple inches!) would be okay..we're going to see Holidazzle Friday night so it would set the mood ..but not a blizzard! lol

I read last night that a huge system is expected to hit the Great Lakes Wednesday. Depending on how it tracks will determine whether we get snow or rain.

Another one that hates a warm Christmas. I keep hoping and praying that some year we will once again get the freak dusting of snow, like we had years ago.

Paul Douglas had it on his blog in the Trib. It probably won't be an "official" blizzard because it won't be cold enough but it sounds like 8" of fluffy snow and high winds-close enough for me.

It is still misting out and we have another freezing rain advisory out today so rush hour tomorrow is going to be BAD.

Lovely...:headache: lol....Luckily DH is on vacation this week and I just work at our local HS about a mile away, so not worried about having to drive much tomorrow. Well my DBIL was hoping we would have some snow when they get here. Guess he'll get his wish. :)

My daughter is on a traveling basketball team in MN. Bunch of snow last weekend and ice this weekend. Do they really appreciate what we go through for them???????????????

I'm supposed to drive up to Maple Grove on Wednesday late afternoon to pick up my new hearing aids. I hope the snow holds off until LATE Wednesday.

I don't drive on icy/snowy roads either. I used to have to when I was working, and that is one nice thing about not working now. I don't have to get out if I don't want to. I normally go up to visit my Mom once a week, but in the winter I quite often skip a week if the roads are bad. I plan my weekly trips to the grocery store around the weather.

I am another person who needs the cold and snow for it to feel like Christmas. We just had our first snowfall of the year. 20 cm in 24 hours and more is expected. I refuse to put up our tree until sometime in December but when the flakes started flying I was really tempted to put it up and decorate it LOL

I compromised by listening to Christmas music :cool1:
