I read this a while back and it didn't phase me as I have never stayed there and wasn't planning on it. But, my kids have their hearts set on staying there next time. So now I'm trying to remember the post - there was reference to water all over because there was a shower with no enclosure of a tub.
How dissappointed will I be in this resort after moderates. I really want to like it for the price! But this tub thing is bugging me.
Thanks for the help!
Sharon

Some ( or all) of the rooms with a King bed are designated as handicap rooms and so have a roll in shower instead of a tub. All the rooms with two doubles beds should have a shower / tub combo.

We had a tub in our room.
As for how disappointed you will be in ASMO after styaing at a moderate, that depends on each individual. We had stayed at DxL 2x and then went to ASMO. I can honestly say I would have a very hard time going back to DXL(or any moderate for that matter). ASMO was awesome! Its just so Disney! Hope you like it as much as we did. :)

We love AllStar Sports and Music. We won't be there for our May or August trip (5 of us in May, and too great a price to pass up for a moderate in August), but I'm sure we'll wander back. It is just sooo Disney.

DMRick,
If you don't mind me asking...where in upstate are you? I live about 20miles west of Albany. Are we neighbors?
Sharon

Thanks for the posts - I'm psyched to try to ASMo!

MOST of the All Star rooms have tub/shower combos -- like a regular bathroom. Only a few handicapped accessible rooms have that shower-only thing. I don't know how it got to be such a big issue on these boards.

We love the All Stars. We were really disappointed when we spent the extra $$$ to move "up" to a moderate. The rooms were only very slightly larger than the All Stars. I thought it might be my imagination, but I went on a website that gave you square footage (I think it was the Unofficial Guide site) and it was NOT my imagination!

We stayed @CR and then on next trip went to ASMo and were not disappointed at all. I had someone with me on their first trip to WDW and the AS is so Disney themed it was just perfect. We'll be going back 11/10-11/16 and staying @ASMu. Have a wonderful trip.

Yes, the All Stars have tubs, it is only a few handicapped rooms that are "full" handicapped rooms that do not have tubs but instead roll in showers. All the other rooms including handicapped rooms that are not full handicapped rooms have tubs.
Tha All Stars are great resorts, you will enjoy it.

So nice to see so many of us that LOVE the All Stars ! We love it too ... and the money I save on my room rate goes quite nicely to more character meals than we ever intend on ! The theming is truly awesome and even when the cheerleader competition was there last year, we didn't find it unbearably busy. As a matter of fact, we did ASMu and AKL last Sept and it took longer to check in at AKL and the CM wasn't nearly as friendly. You will not be disappointed if you love to "feel" Disney wherever you look.

My 2cents on the AS Mo vs moderates...We stayed at Port Orleans one year and AS Mo the next. The biggest difference for us, other than $$$, was the atmosphere. PO was very quiet and peaceful and there is more greenery/landscaping. AS seemed brighter, more alive, and the landscape is more bare. Also the pool at AS MO is not as nicely themed as PO.

So would I stay at AS Mo again? Sure! But I liked PO much better, just liked the feeling I get when I'm there. Just my 2 cents for ya! :)

Isnt it funny how 2 people can see things totally different? ;) I saw NO theming at all at the POR pool. To me, that was just a pool. On the other hand, from a family of hockey fans, that rink pool was just awesome! How cool is Goofy the Goalie? :D

Pembo, Im not saying your opinion is wrong, just the opposite. It is very valid. Im just pointing out how everything is in the perception or a matter of personal preference.

We stayed in Fantasia and had a tub in our room. We love the All Star Movies. We constantly go back and forth between deluxe, moderate, and value. For instance, next weekend we are staying at the All Star Music (our kids love the pool), Mother's Day weekend we are going to the Polynesian (my wife wants to go to the Luau), and Memorial Day weekend we are staying at the Carribbean Beach Resort.

We ususally save the deluxe resorts for "special" occasions - (my birthday we stayed at the Contemporary, we are staying at the Poly. for Mother's Day). If we are there for a quick weekend trip, or during a time when there is not a discount (ie New Year's Weekend) we always opt for the All Star's. If we are there four or more days and are planning to spend a fair amount of time at the resort and need some resort activities (surrey bikes, fishing, etc.) we opt for a moderate.

Some may have larger rooms, some are more spread our, some have better food courts, some have larger pools, some have less wait at the bus stops, some have monorail access, etc. - it really just depends on what you want. We have yet to stay in a bad resort at Disney!
