No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try. - ToT 10 Miler & F&W - Updated 12/21

And none of your pants would fit after you spent that $960 :rotfl: I'm pretty sure that we'll be sharing between myself, DH and DD ... It will be nice to get a range of tastes since we'll probably get 2 things from each booth that we visit....not *every* booth. ;)

Yeah, as none of my pants fit anymore due to the amount of inches I've lost since March, I would like to keep them too loose rather than tight.

My husband & I will share most things except for that Duck Bun. The Duck Bun in China will be all mine & he can get his own if he wants.

I too appreciate your list. Thank you for taking the time to type that all up!!!

Sounds like you are continuing to plug along in your training...even with the injury. :thumbsup2 I am also glad to hear that your long run (I know not running so much because the injury....) wasn't as hard on your body. Sounds like the fuel helped, yes?

Glad the list is helpful to you! On the main restaurant board, I put together the Special Event list for the yearly "Post Your F&W Special Event Bookings" as well which can be helpful if you are trying to figure out what there is for the days you are there rather than sorting through Disney's awful website.

Moving some is always better than not moving at all at least. Luckily this week's plan isn't as bad as last weeks. I have 2 rest days scheduled and the long run is only 70 minutes. Its funny that 70 minutes doesn't feel as bad of a long run anymore.

Just jumping over here from my TR. I've got a lot of catching up to do, but am enjoying reading your plans so far! And let me say, I'm so jealous of all of your upcoming trips.

I did just skip to the F/W lists and I just love fantasizing about what I'm going to get! $960 for one of each??? Oh my. I'll be by myself for some of my trip, so there won't be much sharing. I think my goal will also be getting one thing from each booth too.

I'm looking forward to doing some serious reading and catching up later on tonight!

Thanks for joining in! Living so close makes these trips a lot easier. $45 in gas & DVC Points & our APs (which I consider a 'sunk' cost each year) make these trips a lot more affordable than when we lived farther away.

Nothing wrong with fantasizing what you are going to get at the booths. Each year we always look into what we are going to get before we get there, although, we never seem to follow through with it all or we order something else completely as our moods change. At least its a goal. Hopefully you can get one thing at each booth!

Food & Wine Festival Special Event Booking

On Tuesday, July 29th, Disney Visa Holders were able to prebook ‘select’ Food and Wine Festival events opening at 7AM.

I had a flight out of Fort Myers shortly after 9AM for travel to California for work. Typically that flight time meant at 7AM, I would be driving to the airport. I really didn’t want to deal with bookings along with driving, getting my car parked, etc as you tend to be on hold for a fair amount of time. So I got to the airport early, arriving before 6AM. This at least made for the calmest flight check in experience as there was no wait and there was no one around when I got body scanned through the TSA.

Started at 6:58AM, I started my dialing then hanging up when I get the office is closed message. Right before 7AM, I got the magical noise that the office was open & went through the prompts. After a 30 minute wait, I was able to talk to someone. Got all 3 events I wanted! I ended up selecting down the number of events from what we originally had thought about but we’re ok with that.

I got in:
September 20th - Parisian Breakfast (Husband & I)
October 30th - Culinary Adventures in Signature Dining - The Wave (Just Me)
November 2nd - Sunday Mornings with Keegan (Just Me)

They hadn’t listed what the Boot Camp topic would be for November 2nd so I didn’t want to book that & have it end up being Canning or something (I saw the pickling one in October & wouldn’t want that either)

Between those three events & the Flying Fish Wine Dinner on October 2nd, we’ll have some great events this year for Food & Wine.

Also, I booked 2 Demos for my mother & I during our October Trip on the 25th when that was allowed for AP/TiW/DVC members so her & I will be doing:

October 31st - 1PM Culinary Demo - Elizabeth Falkner
November 1st - 5PM Culinary Demo - Keegan Gerhard

I am sorry about your flight this morning. Ug, we had one of those recently too. I have 4 kids...two of whom I have taken on a plane as "infants" (meaning under 2) I know it is hard....believe me, I have my oldest who is hard to console when she is upset. (:scratchin maybe that is why we never flew with her when she was young) However, doing NOTHING is not a great option for any concerned...least of all the person ahead of you in the seat. ;)

Food and Wine Events - Gah... I have tried all day to get the Parisian breakfast, each time they are telling me that it isn't in the system yet. Maybe it just isn't for the date we are needing. I was able to get the culinary that I wanted as well as the mixology.

Sounds like you had good luck and that you have some good things lined up.

Exactly! I'm usually pretty understanding when it comes to flights and children. This was a long flight - it gets boring and restless, etc. I had a 5 year old next to me on that flight as well who was restless but the mother was awesome with having distractions for her to help pass the time. The mother also was really upset about the baby behind us as she kept going on about how the parents weren't doing anything to help the situation going on behind us. At least my flight back today was much better. I was able to get some sleep on the redeye from LAX to ATL for about 2 hours & then about 45 minutes on the flight from ATL to Fort Myers. I got to play catch up once I got home & slept for 4 straight hours!

Were you ever able to get your Parisian Breakfast booked?

We booked a lot less events this year than we have in years past which I think helped with getting what I wanted as they weren't the most highly sought after.

I have been lurking for a while on this PTR but have come out of hiding! You have a lot of very detailed plans! Do your plans usually pan out or do you deviate from them? I make very general plans because if I make any real details, the plan will fall apart!

Jealous of your many upcoming trips. Congrats on getting the F&W special bookings that you wanted. I'm thinking about doing an Epcot After Hours Wind Down but I know that's not F&W, just Epcot!

While I end up planning rather detailed, we really are very fluid with the plans unless money is involved (like the F&W Special Events that are prepaid or the MNSSHP tickets that I still need to buy) We don't feel like we are over scheduled while on our trips.

In July, we had a pretty set plan but we changed it completely while we were there. I didn't keep a single ADR I had made prior to the trip. We even made two dinner reservations about 90 minutes prior to eating at the restaurants.

We will keep pretty set on the exercise plans as we have to for ToT as I don't want to deviate from the those plans too much but our park plans will probably change or some dinner reservations will depending on our moods.

Which After Hours Wine Down are you planning on? Some seem to be getting better reviews than others. I'm not sure we really have time to do it in our next trips but our minds might change!

I feel like I could schedule just a little more, but I guess I will be doing that once I set our FP+!

Which two dinner reservations were you able to get just prior to eating there?

I was looking at doing the La Cava del Tequila Wind Down. I'm just thinking about it; it's pretty inexpensive and I love Epcot after hours. I was thinking that way I could just kind of mosey out of the park and catch a bus back to Pop after everyone else has cleared out....

We got Fulton's & Paradiso 37 right before. But there were a fair amount of options we could have gone with, including Le Cellier, Yachtsman, Flying Fish, Raglan Road…pretty much everything but character meals, BOG, California Grill if we were flexible with times.

La Cava is the one I've seen with the best reviews! It does seem like a good deal for the money. My husband doesn't enjoy tequila so that one wouldn't work for us well. You should go for it, especially if you don't have to worry about driving!

FP+ will make you schedule in advance but I actually don't mind it as I can plan around them well enough & still enjoy everything we want to.

Wow I can't believe all those good restaurants were open day-of! I guess I've never really looked to see what was available. Good to know.

I haven't seen any reviews; I was just going off of the possibility of tequila or margaritas! I would prefer that over wine flights. I wonder how quickly it will fill up; it was still available today, and I love the Mexico pavilion. Maybe I should just book it; it's so cheap!

With as many last minute trips as I've done along with plan changing, you really don't have to be that worried about ADRs until the day of or before unless you want a certain meal at a certain time or the usual popular meals (Character Meals, CRT, BoG, California Grill, Dessert Parties) or like LTT on a MNSSHP night.

I've seen some review of the La Cava one & if my husband enjoyed tequila, I would be all over it. You should totally book it!

July Week 5 Run Update

Monday, July 28th
W8D7 - Rest Day!

Tuesday, July 29th
W9D1 - 58 Min “Run”

I flew into Southern California for a very short work trip to visit some of our suppliers. By the time, I got to the resort, I had about an hour until my coworker that would also be visiting suppliers with me would be back at the hotel (he flew in earlier in the week due to training at our facility in this area) By the time we got back from dinner, it was already 8:30PM PST which meant it was 11:30 our time.

I made it about halfway through this run before calling it quits as the bed kept sounding better and better the longer I was on the treadmill. 1.64 miles @ a 17:40 pace.

Wednesday, July 30th
W9D2 - 40 Min Crosstraining

We purposely made our reservations for dinner at 7:00PM so there would be time to get some stuff after our supplier visit. I spent the time getting my cross training on the bike done.

Thursday, July 31st
W9D3 - Rest Day!

I’m not sure how much of a rest day it really was. After our last supplier visit, we had about 7 hours to kill before flying out of LAX at 11:55PM. We ended up visiting Hollywood Blvd & walking about 6 miles in dress shoes. (Hello Blisters!)

Friday, August 1st
W9D4 - 55 Min “Run”

Didn’t happen. I got home from the flights around 10:30AM & after unpacking, took a 4 hour nap. I barely had the energy to go grocery shopping and watch some DVR so I went to bed early & slept for 10 more hours!

Saturday, August 2nd
W9D5 - 40 Min Crosstraining

I ended up running 2 miles on the treadmill - around a 14:50 pace. I then did the cross training on the bike for about 30 minutes.

Sunday, August 3rd
W9D6 - 70 Min “Run”

I left the house around 9:00AM to do this run outside. It was hot & humid! Humidity was around 70% at 90 degrees. It started out well enough - actually being able to slowly run which made me happy for mile 1 and mile 2. The heat was starting to get to me after about 30 minutes & I hadn’t brought water with me. I also tried the Hammer Peanut Butter Gel I had gotten in one of the Strideboxes. While the taste was fine & I felt it worked well with my body, I found it to be too sticky. It oozed out on my hands while I was eating it then I just felt dirty for the second half of the run.

Mile 1: 13:35
Mile 2: 15:27
Mile 3: 16:10
Mile 4: 17:12
Partial Cooldown (Until I had to open my garage): 17:47

Overall Pace: 15:42

July Health Update
I’m finally losing the weight I had gained in June. I’m down an additional .2 lbs. I did lose more inches overall as well so thats good! I’ve been much better about keeping up with myfitnesspal even on days where I know I went over calorie wise (Disney & Work Trips will do that)

Total 2014 Loss To Date:
Waist: 6”
Hips: 5.25”
Thighs: 5”
Weight: 17.9 lbs

What are your usual crosstraining activities? Bike? Anything else?

I'm going crazy this year; I've gained 10 lbs since January, regardless of how much I eat or how little I eat, regardless of if I'm running everyday or sitting around not doing anything. I cannot figure it out. I'm so happy to see someone doing the work and getting the results - I feel like I do the work, but get no results. Ugh!

Love your photos of all the stars. I didn't know Disneyland had its own star! Nice selfie with Mickey. hahaha!

I do the bike a lot for cross training. Sometimes I do P90X on Saturday Mornings instead of the bike.

Well my weight hasn't changed a ton in the past couple of months but at least I've been watching the inches so I know I'm doing some work. You probably need to switch up your routine as your body has gotten used to the 3 miles a day thing and probably wants something more. I know I need to switch up once I get done with all the training come January.

I'm gaining inches too - that's what drives me up the wall. I have a bike, but the tires are flat. Maybe I'll go buy a pump tonight and do a bike ride instead of running. I already went for a walk today - only 1.25 miles but it was a quick walk at lunch. I know I am settled into a routine; I just thought that since I'm still sweating a lot I probably should still be seeing results!!

Wow, busy week! Great job with the training you were able to get in, I'm sure it's extra tough with a cross-country trip!

Your dress shoes look mean. I hope your blisters are gone by now!

The weather for your long run sounds cruel and unusual...:faint: I feel like we're all just sort of in survival mode through the next few weeks. It's amazing what a difference the weather can make.

I hate when gel gets all messy and sticky, such a gross feeling. :(

WOOHOO for the weight loss! That has got to be a great feeling!! Keep up the good work! :thumbsup2

Thats no good if you are gaining inches to other! Hopefully switching up the routine works!

I have a pedometer (Striiv Play) I wear on a day to day basis that is included in myfitnesspal daily calorie allotment. I can see the days where I'm really not walking enough versus the days I am walking around like crazy. Its helped me be aware of when I really shouldn't be eating too much more on a daily basis.

It was super busy last week. I'm still trying to play catch up at the office even with 'working' during the trip. Thats more so because the travel was so last minute in being planned that I couldn't make sure I was caught up with all my normal work stuff along with some other issues that popped up.

The weather here is cruel and unusual this time of year. Yesterday, Naples got 6.7" of rain in about 2 hours which caused flash flooding in some areas. Some of that is right next to my husband's work so I was glad he had yesterday off!

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.774032155981337.1073741842.192542820796943&type=1

So - there will be little road running for me until the ground dries out as all the rain makes the snakes & bugs come out to play!

That gel feeling is the grossest ever! I need to order the Salted Watermelon online but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Random Trip Updates

Trip #1
We keep debating now if we want to do Halloween Horror Nights.

They have announced some more houses that excite me but we are waiting until everything is fully announced. Alien vs Predator is one of my favorite horror movies! I would love to be scared by a house with them in it! There is also a rumor about a Halloween (Michael Myers) themed house.

Trip #2
Ordered our Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Tickets for October 3rd! That date is not available for the discount for AP holders or DVC Members but it is what works in our plans so that $6 of savings aren’t really worth it.

Trip #3

I finally purchased my ticket for the Swan & Dolphin Food and Wine Classic. They are adding a beer garden this year that will have some pub type food as well so I selected that option as it was only $20 more. I know my mother only got the normal ticket but I figure I can leave her alone for 10 minutes at a time so I can get a beer and a tasting.

JC0l28a.png

Some of the menu has been announced as well:
* Tenderloin, Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Sauce Bordelaise (Shula’s)
* Thai Chicken Salad, Organic Greens, Green Papaya, Tamerind-Ginger Dressing (Fresh)
* Belle & Evans Chicken Yakitori, Mushroom Tsunomono, Miso Crackling (Cabana)
* Taqueria-Corn Tortilla, Barbacoa of Beef, Organic Vegetables, Cheddar Cheese, ETc (Picabu)
* Handcrafted Bacon, Sweet Potato Puree, Caramelized Onion BBQ, Chestnut Chip (Cib’s Smokehouse)
* Arancini - Ossobuco, Carnaroli Rice, Spicy Tomato Sauce (Il Mulino)
* Charred Octopus, Sauce Remsco, Espinette, Olive Vinaigrette (bluezoo)
* Blackened Salmon, Spinach Puree, Meyer Lemon Beurre Blanc (Garden Grove)
* Dragon Roll: Crispy Shrimp, Tuna, Avocado (Kimonos)
* Falafel - Chick Pea Fritter, Tahini (Fountain)
* Chocolate Crunch Napoleon, Hazelnut Daquouise, Chocolate Whipped Cream

* Chocolate Dome Bavaroise, Caramel Cremeu, Chocolate Flourless Cake, Milk Chocolate Glaze
* Raspberry Compote, Yogurt Panacotta, Jam Filled Raspberry, Raspberry Marshmellow
* Orange Peel & Grand Marnier Cream Puff, Almond Sable, Chocolate Coated Almonds

I'm really excited for that handcrafted bacon, beef tenderloin & chocolate crunch napoleon!

Is HHN like MNSSHP where you have to get tickets early, or is it pretty much you can make a last minute decision? Boy, I HATE haunted houses - I've only been in one, and I was so scared I couldn't stop shaking for a half hour and I lost my voice. It was awful! You guys that like haunted houses, I just can't understand! And there's so many of you!

Congrats on the MNSSHP tickets! I'm so excited to go this year and see the parade and the headless horseman (along with Hallowishes as well).

That lemon peel mousse looks good to me, along with the blackened salmon and the tenderloin. I didn't know that the Swan and Dolphin had anything like that, but it makes a lot of sense now that I do know!

Were you ever able to get your Parisian Breakfast booked?

Not via DVC early registration. Waited for general. Actually, my dd waited. I think she had to keep calling for like 20 minutes to just stop getting the "all circuits are busy" message. Then was on hold for an hour. She got it for her and my youngest though. (dh and I decided to keep our breakfast with his parents )

We will be planning to go there as early as possible given we want to have lunch in dTD before we have afternoon tea at 2pm. So I might see you at the expo too. :goodvibes I promise though, I am not a crazy person who plans to maul you or anything. I might just politely wave.

Yay for getting the MNSSHP tickets. I love that party. We are doing it on 10/2...

Love the pictures from your trip. I think it is so hard to get training in while away. I know I always set out to get more done and always settle for less than I planned. Good job in your attempts!!! AND on the weight loss! :woohoo:
