No Ticker Needed, I Live 10 Mins From WDW!! (9/9/12)

NEW YEARS EVE 2011!!!!

Hi Dis Friends!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I had a nice "me" weekend which was good!

Sadly, I was not given a job offer at Universal on Friday. I had the same team member interview me on Friday that did it in Aug so I kind of had a feeling this wasn't going to go well but felt like I answered every question as I could have for any other TM at Universal?! ET was also playing on the tv in the waiting room = hate that movie..it was a sign! I was very upset when I left and ended up going back to work to help clean up since I had left early.

Yesterday, I went to Universal to see Beauty and the Beast 3D (had Fandango gift card that I can't use at DTD), went to Toy to get Julie Andrew's daughter's autograph on her two books, went shopping, and out to Olive Garden with my new roomie.

Today, I had a Disney Day which started at Epcot, DHS, and finally AK. Thank goodness for a hot tub at my apt!!!!
*stay tuned for pics/review of today and yesterday!!!!

NOW FOR THE NYE REPORT....

Thanks to Danielle from the boards, she gave up her NYE ADR at Ohana and I took it!!!

We had gotten an ADR at Kona but I cancelled it as soon as we took Ohana!

My brother, his gf, and I went to dinner at Ohana. Our ADR was at 9pm but of course they were on a 1/2 hr wait. We said hello to Danielle as they were off to DHS which was good because they would have never made it had they kept the ADR!

We were seated near the window but couldn't see the castle..oh well!

Since bro's gf was with us, I didn't want to seem weird taking pics of everything but I snagged a few here and there!

We ended up with our salad, bread, and appetz all at once..I hate when they do that!!!!

002-1.jpg

We hadn't even gotten to the appetz when the main course people started to arrive. I took chicken but we shooed away the others until we were ready. After you make us wait 30 mins for our ADR, I"m going to take my time!

003-1.jpg

Our server was great so I was relieved as they are typically so-so to awful there!

Around 10:30pm, a family with two young kids were seated next to us and they did not seem happy at all during the meal. They obviously did not research this restaurant at all!! One of their kids fell asleep and didn't even eat!

I had so many shrimp, I lost count!!

004-1.jpg

Finally, when we were ready for dessert, the server brought our dessert and check...then he disappeared...

005-1.jpg

He was gone for literally a half hour and by that point the table next to us which was seated an hour after us had had enough and when he reappeared, they demanded their check and turned down the dessert that he had brought out. Needless to say their experience was NOT MAGICAL, and they only left a $5 tip..I could not believe it!!! They hurried out of the restaurant in search of a fireworks spot which I hated to tell them but those people had been our there for hours...good luck!

We paid and took turns going potty and were out of the restaurant but Chewie..bro's new backpack needed a pic...much like Danielle's yeti!!!

001.jpg

We then went in search for a fireworks spot...

We ended up just in front of the Club Level lounge in Hawaii at 11:45pm..oh the memories from June!!

010.jpg

And then it happened..the crazy family from Ohana decided to stand right next to us..haha figures.

We had a perfect spot right in front of the sectioned off area for Club Level guests until it happened

**rant ahead**

A small group of CMs from Capt' Cooks comes and stands directly in front of us 5 mins before the fireworks began. I was livid but we shuffled around so we could see...

...and then more came. 12 of them total were in this small area now blocking our view :sad2: At that point we were stuck so we dealt with it.

I'm glad they were able to go out and watch but they should have sat in the roped off area or something?! They pretty much took up most of the sidewalk in front of us which I"m shocked they allowed because of security issues. Oh well..

**rant over**

At 11:55pm, it began!

036-1.jpg

They were by far the best fireworks I had EVER seen!!!!! 4th of July are great...these are better!!!!!! I was so glad we went and despite the fact that the group of CMs talked the entire way through making it very difficult to hear the music, it was still a great show!!!!

And to add fuel to my fire of the fact that I live in FL and can go to the beach all year round, the weekend after New Years, I went to visit my aunt and uncle and we went to the beach for the morning! The water was freezing but we sat and relaxed :cool2:

**I hope everyone had a great weekend!!! I'm currently cooking up details for our next Disney Resort adventure in March!!! **

STAY TUNED!

Hahaha, I LOVE that Chewie backpack! :lmao: Man, that would be so much fun to pose him around the world.

You're right, the NYE fireworks are pretty awesome. They were just everywhere! Like boom, boom, boom, what?! :rotfl:

I just realized we did not take a pic before you left for DHS that night..FAIL!!!!!!

Chewie left Ohana wearing the lei so he was pretty lucky!! That thing is $60, no joke!! They have Yoda too!

I know, I thought the same thing! When I was reading your TR, I was like "wait, I didn't take any pictures.......awwwww".

You know, I would love to see those fireworks! They are truly lovely, and you got some great pictures.

You were right telling that family. I would have been there on the beach probably two hours ahead of time with my camera gear and plenty of games and such for my children to keep them occupied. YOu can't imagine how much fun a cell phone playing you tube videos can be. My son will do that for hours!

Hey Megan,

Back from our Dream cruise and it was fabulous! :cool1: We highly recommend one ~~ a 4-day if you can manage that. A 3 day would just be too short!! We hated to get off the ship after 4! But it was a nice getaway and a perfect intro to cruising for my DD :) Loved the adult-only areas of the ship and on Castaway Cay. We got to Serenity Bay early so we got her a hammock and me a lounger with umbrella so we were set for the day. Bar right behind us for convenience and great island music playing in the background! DD was down at water's edge when Jack Sparrow wandered by all by himself so we got some great shots of that :cool1:
We loved the Rainforest area of the spa. $99 for the two of us for the cruise and so well worth it. Many times we were the only ones there using the heated tile loungers and the hot tub. Add in the hamam, sauna and steam room plus the 'special' showers and we were set for some serious relaxation :)
The ship is gorgeous of course - elegantly understated Disney touches everywhere. Let me know if you have any questons! We're planning our next one.....

BTW....I see you have a new ticker!

Oooh, anxious to hear about your plans for March. Is it going to be a birthday adventure (my bday's in March and I remember yours is a couple weeks after mine!)??? popcorn::

ETA: Ok, I think I just answered that after seeing your ticker. haha!

Hello! I posted before --or so I thought! UGH!

So how'd you get a new roomate? Who is it? Is he/she nice? Disney fan...details (I don't think I missed this?!)

Sorry about your dad. I hope he is finally better. It looks like you had a great Christmas at home and a nice beach retreat!

Sorry about the Universal job--the person must have sensed too much magic in you!

I watched the fireworks with you! Another diser had a live stream from the Poly!

March trip! Let's hear the details!!!

I love that your Osbourne lights pictures are from the same some in some cases! haha. I have to look back and see where we were the night of the 19th! We saw the lights on the 18th...We just kept missing each other.

I love my new roommate! She worked with my former roommate when we were CPs but I didn't know her till I moved back in June. She's great and works at Epcot for Special Events!

I'll be back later with an update!

UK FISH SHOP AND VIA NAPOLI REVIEWS!!

Hey Dis Friends!!

Sorry I have been MIA for a long time but life took over again! I've had several work events to tend to and I've been spending a lot of time with my new roommate (everything is going great!!!)

This weekend I have a 4 day weekend and Erin + Livy are coming to visit plus my CP roomie for a day so I'm pretty excited for what's in store for the next few days!!!!

UK FISH SHOP

A few weeks ago, I went on a little field trip to Epcot to do some research on France for a work festival but decided to eat at Fish and Chips instead!

I parked at BC and grabbed a drink on my way into Epcot so I just ordered fish and chips. They were good but a tad greasy!!

001.jpg

It was around $9 and I threw some of it away because of the grease!

The same weekend, I went to a book signing by Emma Watson Hamilton who is the daughter of Julie Andrews. The signing was held at Once Upon a Toy!

I was super glad I went and she was super nice!!!

I got a new bag via the buy $$$ worth and get the bag for $14. It's a good bag but you can tell it's not made as well as those cream canvas bags from a few years ago!

VIA NAPOLI

This past weekend (Feb 12th), my roommate and I went to Via Napoli for lunch!

This was a new experience for me so I had no idea what to expect! We used her 40% off holiday coupon and it was well worth it!

Our ADR was for 2:00pm and the place was packed! We checked in at 1:45pm and didn't have to wait more than 5 mins!

056.jpg

057.jpg

Within 5 mins we were seated at a nice 2 person table by a window in the back of the restaurant.

View from table:

063.jpg

064.jpg

We ordered 2 diet cokes and got some water with lemon with bread and oil.

For apptez we ordered two: fried veggies and meat risotto balls

065.jpg

Both were great but we loved the balls best!

For entrees we both got individual pizzas. Roomie- "J" got Pepperoni and I got Mushroom

066.jpg

The pizzas were huge and we took some home with us for lunch the next day!

We couldn't leave lunch without dessert...a true restaurant review now!

We both go Pistachio Gelato and it was the best I've EVER HAD!

069.jpg

We had two servers because one was training and they both did great!

Overall with the 40% discount + tip, it was $63.00 total! It was a pricey meal but well worth it!

I would for sure go back and would LOVE to try the pasta! I'm not really a pizza person but my pizza was great :)

Semi sad that we didn't get a hot young Italian male to wait on us but the two females were great like I said!

**I'm off to put together an update about the March trip, STAY TUNED!**

Mmmm, your Via Napoli experience looks tasty! It's still on my list. Every time I make a reservation for it, I end up changing it for something else. Next time I go, I'm making sure we make it.

So glad to read your recent report. Sounds like things are going well for you in your job and with your new roommate. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your Disney exploits.

It was really really yummy! I would go back for sure but it's not on a list of my all-time favorites.

Good timing. I was thinking this would be an option for dining this summer. I am putting it on the list!

It was a good choice! I'm glad we went :)

1900 PARK FARE BREAKFAST!!!

Hi Dis Friends!! I can't believe it has been nearly 20 days since I have posted anything on this..eek!!! Life has taken over once again! Things have been crazy at work, I had family in town, a few friends with birthdays, my Blackberry broke but I ended up with an Iphone and I've been going out with a bunch of friends which is nice!!!

I hadn't seen my bro in a few weeks so we decided to have breakfast this morning and his choice was 1900 Park Fare. You can tell the Marathon was today because at 11pm last night I was able to get any of the following ADRS for around 11am: Ohana, Chef Mic, CRT, Cape May, Norway, 1900, and a few more. I couldn't believe it!!!

Our ressie was at 10:40am today.

On the way there I called bro and told him that I'd pick him up and we would valet the car since I was using my TIW card. We arrived with 5 mins to spare. We checked in and I asked what the process was for the validation for the Valet (since I forgot and had only done it once). The VERY RUDE CM told me that THEY DON'T VALIDATE VALET. I said oh, when did that change because we did it at the Poly and it was fine. His response..WE'RE NOT THE POLYNESIAN. Okay...At that point, I should have asked for a manager but we were starving and I was told to go to the front desk to ask them. All I kept thinking was that I'm sure glad this wasn't an audit because YOU WOULD HAVE ROYALLY FAILED!!!

So we took the pic with photopass and our buzzer went off right after that.

**I'll apologize in advance for how yucky I look in the pics!! I was clearly tired and the weather was yuck today!!**

Linda was our server and she was great and always asking if we needed anything. We hadn't sat down in the mostly empty restaurant when Pooh arrived!

With the price + tip it was $51 with the Tables in Wonderland card.

Overall we had a great meal, good characters except I miss the Mad Hatter, and other than the rude CM at check-in, the CMs were good too

When we left we showed the slip at the Valet stand and it ended up being free which was nice!! We tipped the CM, got into the car, and were stopped by this!!

I wonder how much money they have....

Anyways it was a great breakfast and I was exhausted when we left that I went home and took a 2hour nap lol.

Hye Megan! Glad you're back and THANK YOU for the review of Park Fare. I have been toying with the idea of cancelling our breakfast rezzie there because we can't get anything first thing in the morning. But your pics have convinced me that I want to try it out! How was the lobster benedict? And is the oatmeal like stuff malt-o-meal or grits? I love me some grits!

Thanks!!!! The lobster benedict was good and I've never had it before!! The grits I have no idea because I don't eat them that often so I'm not sure how to compare them. The omelet was very well done and I loved it!!! One girl demanded that she have her own eggs..NOT RUNNY! Like I said, aside from the rude CM at check-in it was a great experience!!

[ The Kissimmee area can be nice depending on the area you are in. Celebration is a part of that county that Kissimmee is in and is where I teach. Celebration is the best area to live in and I believe has the better schools compared to other Osceola Co. schools. Don't move to Poinciana!!! I live in South Kissimmee near Davenport/Clermont and it's a nice area and not as busy as Lake Buena Vista. I'm about 10 mins from AK give or take depending on traffic or lights but never more than 10 mins![/QUOTE]

I'm already looking at areas around WDW, glad you pointed out Poinciana. I'm not familar at all with the living areas & hope to find something within 30mins from Disney (I want to work there P/T) My home resort is AKL & I love it! I decided once I move to FL (hoping in less than 2-3 years) I can use my DVC points outside WDW :)
You are so lucky to be so close. Celebration was an option but the house's have such little land & I have 2 huge German Shepherds that need to run!
By the time I get to FL my step-daughter will be in her 3rd year of college so no more kids to worry about housing, just my big dogs :)
Have a super Magical day...gosh you are so lucky :goodvibes

I'm back on the Dis since I am getting ready for a new trip! :goodvibes
Congrats on your new car (a little late) !!!!!
