No Ticker Needed, I Live 10 Mins From WDW!! (9/9/12)

I'm here!

I'm so sad we weren't able to meet up when we were down there. But, I have October coming up, so we should definitely make plans!

Hi Megan

I'm so glad that I found this thread. I used to follow your threads about the 2 disney programs you did years ago, so I'm going to follow your reports here as well :-)

That's awesome you just got interested into the Harry Potter movies (: Have you read the books? I highly recommend you read those while you continue to watch the movies, it makes it a bit more enjoyable :teeth:

Sorry you got motion sickness a bit earlier than usual, but it seemed to not stop you :thumbsup2 The Butterbeer looks really good. I've heard many good things about it. I'm really hoping to fit IOA into my next Disney trip for Butterbeer and Forbidden Journey :goodvibes

Can't wait to read about your experience at Jurassic Park! :mickeyjum

I have only read the first book. I had to read it for a college class but I bought the second one and my brother has them all at my parent's house so I might bring them back with me this week or have my mom bring them in Sept when they come. I don't know how much free time I'll have once I start teaching but we'll see. I will be off 2 weeks at Xmas and all summer :rotfl2:

Sounds like a fun TR so far, I'm interested in hearing more. My DF and I just recently went to WWoHP, and I couldn't have possibly gone of Forbidden Journey without getting sick. My DF went on though, and she's the type that also never gets sick on thrill rides, but she said she felt a bit uncomfortable afterwards. It sounds like some crazy ride!

As a side note, I also agree with the above poster, if you haven't read the HP books you definitely should!

It is a crazy ride!!!!! 3x of that and I was done. My dad and brother went on it at night and I passed..shopping sounded more fun at that point lol.

haha, that's awesome you're hooked on Harry Potter now. I bet after seeing the movies you appreciated the WWOHP a lot more. I agree, if you haven't, you should read the books!

I'm so glad I sat down and watched all of the movies because everything made so much more sense!

Great update! Can't wait to hear what you thought of IOA! I love it but haven't been since before Olivia was born. I don't plan on taking her to USO or IOA until she is old enough/tall enough to do everything. Toby isn't at all interested in thrill rides so a mommy/daddy day out doesn't work either. Maybe we should plan a day for the two of us! I've been dying to go to on HP! Can't wait to hear what your thoughts were!

It was pretty awesome! It's not really a kids park and we really noticed there weren't many little kids around and maybe one or two ECV's here and there..go figure :rotfl2:

I'm here!

I'm so sad we weren't able to meet up when we were down there. But, I have October coming up, so we should definitely make plans!

I know :( Things were crazy and I had no idea my family were going to be going to parks every day that they were here in addition to my cousin playing at WWOS!! Oct should be less hectic!

Good luck with your new teaching job. Enjoying your report.

Thanks! I can't wait!

Hi Megan

I'm so glad that I found this thread. I used to follow your threads about the 2 disney programs you did years ago, so I'm going to follow your reports here as well :-)

:welcome:

I'm hoping I will have more time to report seeing as I'll have a set schedule, holidays off, and standard weekend days!

Thanks! (:

Oh, that's SO good to know it is a great asset to my resume. I was nervous that if I did it, it would be just for fun and one of those experiences where it is totally useless. Now, my life is complete hahahaha :goodvibes

It is for fun but any job outside of FL will see Disney and want to know what you did there. Many people don't know they have the college program and/or internship!

Ooooo... what a way to start a TR with Universal! Hahaha, well I've never been there and really want to go to WWOHP, so this is nice to see some pictures of that "other place". Lucky you for getting that discount! :goodvibes Can't wait to read all about your experiences at Hog-- I mean "your brother's castle"! :mickeyjum

Haha :)

Wouldn't miss this one for the world!! Great start btw!

:welcome:

'BUT I DON'T WANT TO GET WET!!!!'

HAPPY MONDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!

Today has been a busy day! I got up, cleaned my bedroom and bathroom. At 1pm, I went to sign my teaching contract then I did some errands and ran to DTD to WOD for some shopping! I got some goodies to take to mom and dad tomorrow and got the "duffel bag" prize thing that they were offering if you spent $40 or more. It looks like a decent bag! I have too many beach towels to get that instead!

I'm doing laundry and packing but later I'm going to meet up with one of my former kiddos from my old school in OH. She's here with her family so her mom text me and said they would be at MK tonight! I guess I won't be bored today :) Tomorrow, my flight is at 1:10 to Columbus so we did check-in and I got A56..pretty good for not paying the $10 pre-board!

NOW..

JUNE 17, 2011

After we left WWOH, we went into Jurassic Park!

I was ready for this water ride but hoped I would not get wet!

105.jpg

106.jpg

It was a pretty good ride but too short IMO. We went on it not once but twice (Dad loved it!) and got a few sprinkles here and there. After exploring the gift shop, we went to Toon Lagoon!

109.jpg

110.jpg

First we went on Dudley and waited what seemed for forever. It was a pretty cute ride and we got a little wet but nothing that wouldn't take an hour to dry.

After that, we went on Popeye...BIG MISTAKE!

I did not want to get dripping/soaking wet since we didn't bring a change of clothes and planned to stay till 9pm..well

WE ALL GO SOAKED. So soaked in fact that 4 hours later, I was still wringing out my shorts and shirt! EPIC FAIL IMO!!!

We made our way to Marvel but decided to turn around and go eat at Dagwood so we could sit outside and hopefully dry off.

111.jpg

The mugs were buy two get one free so Bro got one, I got one, and Mom and Dad shared. The food was good but I was still not dry!!!!

After lunch we went on the drop tower ride which was awesome and went on Spiderman too. The line for the Hulk was too long so we by-passed it.

We decided to head over to the Studios next!

112.jpg

113.jpg

114.jpg

117.jpg

Our first stop was ET. I had never been on the ride but holy cow was it cute! The queue was super cute..very Ewok related! The ride was cute too but ET did not say our name at the end. (When my brother and I went the other day he did say my name and it made me happy!).

After ET was:

123.jpg

It was a cute ride..it was my parent's favorite ride!!

MIB was next followed by Jaws. We were going to go on The Mummy next but it was down so we headed to Rip Ride Rocket. Bro's one friend was working so we got on the ride super quickly and loved it! It began to rain after that so we ducked into Twister..waste of time haha. But it kept us dry. Finally The Mummy re-opened so we rode that followed by Shrek.

129.jpg

By then, we were hot, tired, and hungry!

DINNER WAS NEXT BUT WHERE..????????

I had to read it for a college class but I bought the second one and my brother has them all at my parent's house so I might bring them back with me this week or have my mom bring them in Sept when they come. If you have time definitely read them, it will make the movies a lot more enjoyable and they will make much more sense ESPECIALLY the 7th movie. :teeth:

It is for fun but any job outside of FL will see Disney and want to know what you did there. Many people don't know they have the college program and/or internship!

OOOHHH... well, it's good to see they will be interested in that. My resume is already nowhere near interesting so that will be nice to have during and after college :thumbsup2

Duly noted that you get soaked on the Popeye ride. I generally do not enjoy being wet all day long, so I'll avoid it in October, unless I bring a change of clothes along.

You guys definitely got a lot done already. I love ET too! A little bit on the old side, but that's okay.

You're coming into some pretty good weather starting tomorrow. Our weather has been hot hot hot for most of the summer. Tomorrow, we're starting a string of days in which the temps will top off in the low 80s. Compared to 95 degrees, that's pretty cool. Maybe too cool for summer.

I'm getting old, and I feel the cold. I'm gonna envy you this winter as you sit in your Florida warmth, :beach: and I'm shovelling the Cincinnati cold. :santa:

Yes you will get soaked! I really debated about taking a change of clothes for that day but I would have been left an outfit short for the trip...Later on at Vero I ended up doing 2 loads of laundry because it was free so I would have not been short an outfit afterall :rotfl: Go figure!!

I told my brother that the queue of ET smells like a hotel room :)

I saw that on weather.com!!!! It will be nice! It's been in the high 90s here with a feel like of 110+ Today we had rain/storms all day so it felt like in the 80s which was nice for a change but not if you are a tourist! :scared1:

Wastin' away again in Margaritaville!!!

I figured I would update one more time before going to bed! I spent the day packing, laundry, cleaning, shopping, and went out to dinner with my brother and his roommate.

2 funny stories of the day..

#1 I had an EPIC FAIL in terms of my cleaning. Apparently, I did not notice when I was spraying my Clorox Bleach in my tub and ended up with a brown now turned red and blue now turned white shower curtain  Needless to say I ended up at Target with a new shower curtain and actually like my new one better and I think that it brightens up my already dark brown bathroom..Don't worry Apt pics will follow the June TR!

#2 When I moved back down, it was the first time I had to buy furniture. I have a bedroom set from Ikea at home so I just bought the same thing but bought a Ikea mattress instead of my $550 one from Original Mattress Factory. Well when my brother moved over the weekend, he decided to take my Ikea mattress/ box spring since I wasn't a fan of it and got a cheaper mattress from Original Mattress Factory. Well it turns out that the new box spring is 3 inches shorter than Ikeas and needless to say it does not fit on my frame so the past 2 nights I slept in fear that my bed was going to fall in the middle of the night so tonight I decided to take them off the frame until I come back and can get boards to put on it for extra support and it turns out that 3 of my cross beams ended up bending which were not like that prior to the new box spring. I'm currently having a "camp-out" on the floor with my mattress and box spring :rotfl:

Okay now for the update!

JUNE 17, 2011

When I left off, we were at Studios and were ready for dinner! It was hot and we were hungry!

Our choices were: Bubba Gump, Margaritaville, Pastamore, or Hard Rock...

We ended up going to..

136.jpg

137.jpg

We tried to get an ADR earlier in the day but they claimed they were booked. We walked in at 5pm and were seated right away!

139.jpg

Bro gets a pretty good discount there so we weren't shy to chow!

We got coconut chicken as an apptz:

140.jpg

I got the CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE which was awesome as always!

141.jpg

For dessert we got/shared the Strawberry Shortcake!

142.jpg

We were there for almost 2 hours which was good to cool off!

After eating, I went shopping and everyone else relaxed!

143.jpg

148.jpg

144.jpg

We headed back to IOA to ride the Hulk but it was down at that point so we assumed that it was not going to be ridden that day and I still haven't been on it! We went on The Cat In The Hat which was really cute!

We went back to WWOHP and saw the wand show! It was cute but I wouldn't wait more than 30 mins for it lol.

After the show, Dad and Bro went on Journey and Mom and I went shopping!

As we were leaving IOA it began to storm so we walked quickly out of IOA and to the car!

Back at POFQ we had a mini surprise!

149.jpg

150.jpg

At WWOP I bought a sucker, cotton candy, choco frogs, and a wand since my first one bro got me in March melted...side note: this wand did not make it home either and not because I ate it :(

152.jpg

We were in bed by midnight and didn't expect to sleep long since the next day would consist of apt hunting and park hopping!!!!

SEE YOU IN A FEW DAYS..

STAY TUNED!

Am I the only person who likes to get wet on water rides? Still shocks me. I'll definitely have to check those three out when I go to IOA someday :goodvibes I'm sorry though you didn't enjoy the wetness :/ But sounds like the rest of the day was fun!

Does E.T. really say your name on that ride? Oh now I really want to try it, definitely something I have to do next time I'm down there :teeth:

The food at Margaritaville sounds delicious. My family loves Jimmy Buffet so I'm pretty sure I'll have to check out that place. The burger and strawberry shortcake are calling to me :goodvibes Then you taunt me after with Honeydukes :sad2: Hahahahaha

Have fun at MK! (: Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

So I look at the picture of your coconut chicken, and I think to myself "oh that's such a lonely piece of chicken...."

That is until I realized that you took the chicken off of a plate that had more. What an idiot I am. :lmao:

Your meal looks really tasty. May have to be on my list for the future. Although totally weird that they had no ressies, yet you could walk up. :confused3

Thanks :) and :welcome:

Haha, we had like 2 pieces each, it wasn't a lot but was good! We were still able to eat the rest of our food and share a dessert too so it was okay in the end!! They said if you walk up before 5:30 you can usually be seated in 20 mins which is what they told us but our buzzer went off right away :)

ALWAYS GIVE 2ND CHANCES AT DISNEY RESTAURANTS!!!!

HI DIS FRIENDS!!!

I feel like it has been forever since I've updated!

My time at home was nice and I was ready to come back and now I start work tomorrow!!!

Today I went to Epcot and watched the WS movies except Am. Adventure and had a nice dinner at China QS lol. It was some good "me" time and I finished it by going grocery shopping with the crazy Sunday crowds/tax free weekend!

SATURDAY JUNE 18, 2011

We woke up bright and early on Saturday. The plan for that day was: MISSION, FIND AN APT IN THE KISSIMMEE/ORLANDO AREA!

My roommate offered to let my parents into a park which turned into a blessing since they were occupied and didn't come along with us (thank goodness haha).

Bro headed to work and we got up and headed to the POFQ CS to get breakfast:

153.jpg

After breakfast, I took some pics on the way back to our room:

Dad waiting for us!

169.jpg

We got in the car to meet my roomie at Epcot so my parents could be occupied and we could go apt hunting!

172.jpg

173.jpg

174.jpg

We got my parents into Epcot around 10am and off they went to play and off we went to hunt!

All in all that day we looked at more than 5 apts but less than 10 I'd say. We ended up picking the last apt we went to. It came down to this one and another (further away). My roomie wanted the other one and I wanted this one but she compromised and decided on this one and it turns out we love it! We're right across from the club house and it has great parking. I gave her the master for compromising but mine is a suite as well but a tad smaller. We did our paper work right on the spot and were back at POFQ by 5pm. My dad had to co-sign since I didn't have a job and my roomie is only PT at Disney so he signed off on everything and we were good to go!!

We had an ADR that night for Tonys for the 5 of us but she declined as she was tired and my brother didn't end up going since he was sick..a curse that would hit not only him :(

We took the bus to MK and went right to our ADR!

SIDE STORY..

We had eaten at Tonys once before several years ago. We went for lunch and it was soooo hot that day and the food did not sit well so our experience was not good but we decided to give it another chance..YOU SHOULD ALWAYS GIVE 2ND CHANCES AT DISNEY RESTAURANTS!

176.jpg

Mom:

178.jpg

We sat right by the fountain!

179.jpg

181.jpg

I had Wedding Soup...GOOD! (I couldn't believe they had it!)

183.jpg

184.jpg

I got the Chix Parm..good!!

185.jpg

Mom's birthday was the next day..

186.jpg

187.jpg

All in all, we LOVED Tonys the 2nd time around and would 100% go back!! Bro was sad that he missed the meal that he was too sick for..especially Wedding Soup!!! We will be going back one of these days!

At that point, I had really started not reporting so I can't really recall what rides we did after that but we did see fireworks and the park was only open till 11.

All in all it was a good day and I was happy to find my new home! We would be moving in in less than 2 weeks but I was ready for it!

We got back to POFQ, went swimming, and started to pack for our new adventure the next day....

188.jpg

WOULD IT BE A "HAPPY" BIRTHDAY FOR MOM AND A "HAPPY" FATHER'S DAY FOR DAD??!!!

STAY TUNED!

Glad Tony's was much better this time around. We really liked it when we went.

Good luck with school!

I'm here! Ahhh, I'm so jealous that you live so close now! Congratulations!

I am so glad you are doing a blog! This will be really fun!

Going back to catch up now!

That's awesome you got to go check out EPCOT on your own. Sounded like a nice time :teeth:

On to the update...

Glad to see your "second chance" at Tony's was better. It looks like a really cool TS :thumbsup2 The Wedding Soup looks delicious! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum
