No theater shows on the fantasy this week

I also need the answer to this. Can they show a video of the DCL shows on the TV at least? If I'm paying Disney prices for Disney level entertainment but not getting anything close to it then I may need to re-think my options. :listen:
I would think they're still showing the "live" shows on the TV. They do (did) on all past cruises we've ever taken on DCL.

"live" as in previously taped (most likely not the actual cast onboard that cruise).

I didn't know that. It's something at least.

I don't know for a fact. But Disney performers usually are union and it may depend on their contract regarding running recordings of shows.. I know WHEN news crews were allowed in Disneyland there was a 30 second limit on what we could shoot of "performers/bands". Not an issue there anymore because they no longer allow outside photographers in, just reporters. Disney provides the photographer so they can control what is shot.

The stage shows that DCL provides on the TV onboard are not livestreamed. They are recorded, usually from a different sailing. The versions on TV would have been shown anyway so I highly doubt there's any union issue due to whatever "technical" issues are keeping the current cast from live performances in the theater.

I was referring to rerunning of shows not technical issues. Didn't one of the ships have technical issues a couple of weeks ago at Castaway Cay that delayed disembarkation.........a ramp that allowed them to off load the food for guests on the island malfunctioned as I recall.

Starting to realize that this is the change that would break the camels back for us. I’ve been good with just about every other change they’ve made. But if the shows didn’t play, I’d be pretty let down as it’s a major selling point for Disney Cruise Line for us. Will be keeping a close eye on if this is a trend that continues as our March cruise on the Fantasy creeps forward.

There were variety acts day 1 and 2, encanto is playing tonight.
They did confirm to me no shows all week.

But honesty goes a long way, also.
I agree i was on the cruise last week. They were very odd about it when believe got cancelled. At first they were going to do 3 shows of it on the last day but then suddenly those came off the schedule too. Cruise director was very vague with the reasoning so I’m sure it was COVID. Hoping for their quick recovery!

I am sorry shows are being cancelled. I am one of the lucky ones that have seen them in the past. The last two cruises I didn't go to them at all. Can't wait till this summer to see what changes are. In the meantime please take a deep breath and what happened, in the past, probably is not going to happen now, or for awhile and if you want the experience "from the past" you may want to reschedule your trip.

Not possibly. They report the number of positive cases on board and it's not 0.
The number of cases on board are not publically reported. The only indicator of covid on board is the CDC colour coding system that indicates the threshold levels for each colour. And given that yellow is earned by having just one crew member test positive (or .1% of the passenger compliment up to 5 days after debarkation), I think very little precise information with respect to actual numbers can be gleaned from the colour codes.

They publicly stated that there were 29 positive crew cases on Dec 30

Yes… but that was from one ship (the Fantasy). It was a single public statement/press release to media. There have been plenty more cases. In fact, all of the Disney ships are classified as yellow currently because they have had cases on board but that information is not publically available.

They do not as a matter of course disclose the number of cases on board. I got off the Magic yesterday.

yes, someone above made the ridiculous statement that DCL was "opening itself up to lawsuits" by admitting there are cases on board, when we know there are cases on board from reported data. What part of that are you arguing with?

Currently on the fantasy, no frozen, aladdin or believe so far. They claim its technical and will be updating day by day.
What is the status going to St Thomas? Did they swap days with Tortola or are they just not going?

I wasn’t commenting on that post at all. All I was saying is that cruise lines are under no obligation to let the general public know of onboard infections. The only reporting obligation at this time is to the CDC who releases the information through their colour classification scheme.

(Good luck suing a cruise line for contracting COVID in the middle of the pandemic when every document you are provided indicates that you are assuming the risk by joining the cruise…. in fact, it is the ‘home page’ as soon as you turn on your stateroom tv right now!)

Sure, okay.

Why can't they just be truthful?
We’d all feel better if we just could trust that we were given the truth. For instance, when our Castaway Cat activities were cancelled, they were then all listed as “sold out” giving the impression that all was well when it wasn’t.
