We were there last week, Oct 6 & 7 in the parks. Hubby was SO EXCITED to ride Soarin' as we haven't seen it since THE switch. We got FPs for Oct 6. He wanted to go in the evening Oct 6th, they said "Sorry, we no longer have a Single Rider line". He assumed they meant ... we have no single rider line for the night.

Friday, he was going to pop over to ride it, but they also said "sorry, we have no single ride line anymore for this ride". He was dumbfounded!

Anyone else find this out?? If he had his way, he would've gone Single Rider on Soarin' maybe 3-4 times Friday night.

We liked it. I honestly got NONE of the smells, my kids & hubby said they smelled the tropical scent, I barely did. Not as charming as Soarin over CA, imho. But definitely go see it - it is truly gorgeous!!

They stopped offering it when they did the switch over. It was the one ride where SR was consistently longer than FP and probably sometimes longer than standby. It just takes too long for them to get the SRs from the waiting points to fill the empty spots. Plus, the FP line has been extending all the way back past Smokejumpers at times. It would be worse if you injected SRs into that same door and diverted some of the CMs attention.

Yeah, they stopped doing it when it switched over to the new show. It was never really that much of a time saver anyway.

They seemed to be really focused on filling the rides by calling for parties of 2 or 3 from the regular line. the one smell I go got the most-dirt when the elephant throws up the scoop of dirt lol. I feel like I know the smell of dirt pretty well from all of my years working in preschool and kindergarten and several time I have a had a sensory table in my classroom filled with dirt so we could watch living things grow/live in it (mostly grass and worms) in half of it and half was just regular dirt that they could scoop up and explore (and sometimes throw unfortunately) so when I got the strong smell of dirt at that moment I couldnt help but chuckle. They had the smell of dirt down pat. How do you mass produce an artificial dirt smell? :stir::confused3:rotfl:

Yeah, Single Rider for Soarin' didn't work that well anyway. It's not like RSR where the loading creates a real advantage for singles. You'd probably wait just as long in standby.

Some of the CMs were so efficient, no guests would come from the single rider line for an entire ride cycle.
I once saw the CM at the "divide" point alternate the single rider line between the 2 theaters, so groups attempting to save time in the single rider line could potentially be split up for an extending time.

I've been called over as an SR with several people behind me and then the vehicle has 2-3 empty seats. But it could be a weight thing too. If there's a weight limit on the vehicle, then there's really no point in SR, having random single empty seats is probably necessary.

Loading has a lot of issues, and Single Rider as to it.

A key point, dispatching a new ride as quickly as possible, so for Soarin' having a couple of seats go empty still delivers an overall higher capacity per hour. Only if they can get the SR's to the safety video in time does it help.

Then you have to look at the other guest's reactions, not a big deal on Soarin', but on something like Midway Mania, where you might have to place a single adult with a minor, well, safety is a priority.

While it has limited value, most parks (Disney and others) are cutting back on them, as they found the effort is worth the benefit.

Whenever I did SR on TS and they were seating me with a child they asked the child and the parents (if they were there) if it was OK.

And then we went along on our ride in a brightly lit series of rooms, with people all around, and cameras everywhere.

And I've gotten SRs, too, on TS, because we are a family of 3 and DS and DH always want to ride together. Back then it was FUN because I'd get to sit next to someone and laugh with them about the fun of the ride. Now it's just boring.
