The shrimp at ohana was recently replaced with I dont know what. That is why I go there. The shrimp are the best tasting food anywhere on property. Anyone else a little upset about this. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Funny you should say that as I was at the place a few nights ago, well not happy shrimp became some sausage thing, however the thing I was most up set at was the pineapple and caramel being replaced, I had set my mind that the replacement would be rubbish and it actually turned out to be so very nice, in-fact so nice I forget the fact the Shrimp is not on the menu as I can always have that at Coral Reef.

I've dined at 'Ohana at least 20 times. I'd say that about 90% of what I ate there was the wontons and the grilled shrimp. Knowing about the changes, I decided to give it another shot last weekend.

The shrimp is now served in a bowl instead of on skewers, and was much better than I expected. Not as good as the grilled version, but pretty good nonetheless. The wontons have been replaced by wonton chips and are a weak substitute. The sausage seemed pretty much like a hot dog.

The atmosphere is as great as ever. I'll still go, but far less frequently.

When we booked it the time I thought it be cool if Wishes is on at about the same time, when I found out it was I was thinking, this will be cool they dim the lights and pump the music in.. when turned up and had window seats I was like, yes cracked this one.. noticed that the restaurant had a lot more seats in it then I have ever seen. Anyways Wishes started, no lights get dimmed and no music, I was then bad mouthing the place how it used to be better.. anyway few mins later music gets turned on, no lights dimmed but hey at least we had the Wishes fireworks and music for the last part of our meal.

Done the Spirt of Aloha a few nights later and enjoyed that loads more this time, but then we had a cracking server called Maxine, top lady made sure the food a coming and the beers a flowing, was the best meal and night of this holiday, think everything just clicked this time around, to think 3 years ago I thought that was pretty poor, amazing how things can change for the better.

Oh yeah I am upset.....that's all I ate when we were there last! We aren't eating at Ohana this time....DH is really upset that they don't serve the pineapple and caramel anymore... :confused3

I ate at Ohana's last Saturday (11/26) and had shrimp. It was in a bowl mixed with pinapple(?) but was good.

The new bread pudding dessert is actually very good. I'm not a bread pudding fan, but I loved it at Ohanna. I've been looking for the recipe ever since our trip in Oct. If the dessert is your only draw back, go ahead and try it; it's great.

The shrimp were good, too. Didn't care for the potatoes, though. Would have really liked to have had rice.

The bread pudding dessert with banana fosters sauce and vanilla ice cream is outstanding! It was truly one of the highlights of the meal and the best dessert I had at WDW.

They may be altering their service of shrimp due to shellfish allergies.

i was there in october. loved the new shrimp and the bread pudding and the potato dish. not a big fan of the sausage. overall, i think the change was for the better.

ok so is shrimp still served or not?i know it's not the same grilled but does the op mean none at all or no grilled?

It's still served, but as a starter. These ones are no a patch on the mighty big barbecued ones of times past.

So they are still served but just not on kabobs anymore. Am I reading right? I'm ok with this but I have to have shrimp!

I did love the pineapple on July but I am looking forward to trying the new dessert too. Sounds delicious.

I just hope they stop the changes....we've had enough already.

It is messy sweet-and-sour, peel-and-eat boiled shrimp. It is very good, I thought.

I didn't get to Ohana for the previous menu, but we enjoyed the recent menu. Wonton and sauces were good. Salad, wings, and shrimp were excellent. Stir-fried veggies and pototes were very yummy. The meat was hit and miss (mostly bland), but tolerable. Dessert was fantastic!!

We went Fri a week ago then again this past Thurs. Fri was very good, thurs was not as good. Fri the steak was A++. Thurs steak was a B. Its hit or miss it seems. Shrimp was very good. I like it in the sauce.

We were there is early Nov. They still serve the shrimp. They are great. I thought the ones on the skewers were always over cooked and chewy. The new sauteed ones are great. They will bring out as many as you want. We were there in a party of 8. We must have ordered 4 or 5 refills of the shrimp. My brothers and I can put away the shrimp. The sausage didn't impress me much. It was juicy and tasted ok, but didn't go with the rest. The steak was delicious. The new bread pudding was awesome. I don't like bread pudding, but this was great.

When we went a couple of weeks ago, the shrimp were served in a bowl. They were good the that time. The sausage replaced the shrimp on the skewer and DW definately approves. We do love the bread pudding afterwards :cool1:

truthfully that might make me give ohana a second chance since i thought all the skewer stuff was over cooked but i could easily fill up on the wings(yummmmmmm) and now the shrimp and not have to break my jaw with the rock hard meats :rotfl: the pineapple was good but i love bread pudding
