We have a cruise booked thru the DVC. We have 4 people total and 2 staterooms booked. One member of our party might not show up due to an illiness but the other three will be there and we will still be using 2 rooms. We tried calling the DCL and got no answer we were wondering what are the penalties if any if this member of our party doesn't show up? We won't know untill the last minute so we can't cancel in advance.

Thanks in advance.

There wouldn't be a penalty as in charging a fee for a no show.....but he/she wouldn't get a refund either, so in that sense, that is a penalty. The roommate should tell the desk at check in that they aren't coming so they don't wonder if they are going to race into the port at the last minute. If the person has travel insurance though, then an illness might be covered...it all depends on the policy.

IF ONE OF YOUR PARTY HAS TO CANCEL AND IT IS STILL PAST THE 60 DAY MARK DO YOU GET A REFUND. DH WON'T KNOW FOR SURE ABOUT WORK SCHEDULE UNTIL FIRST OF NEXT YEAR FOR THAT YEAR AND WE ARE ON THE JUNE 19 CRUISE. WE'D HAVE PLENTY OF NOTICE BEFORE THE SAIL DATE BUT WOULD WE GET A REFUND OR CREDIT ?

When you booked your cruise through DVC Member Services, you were offered travel insurance. This would cover the passenger who is too ill to cruise. They reimburse at I believe $5 per point.

Without the travel insurance, you will forefeit the points. In order for 3 people to cruise in two staterooms, you would pay a premium that equals almost four full fares anyway.

Hope your 4th passenger improves enough to cruise!!

WHOOPS!!! I MISSED THE PART ABOUT DVC. WE ARE BOOKED THRU DU. BUT IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW THIS WOULD WORK I SURE WOULD LIKE SOME INFO. THANKS:rolleyes:

patches-4, if you have to cancel *before* the 60 day mark, you will get a full refund, according to DCL's current refund policies. It is only after the 60 day mark that cancellation policy charges kick in.

Specific penalties vary according to how close to the sail date you are, and of course, whether or not you have insurance, and whther the reason for cancellation is covered by your insurance.

I think that's one of the great things about DCL -- you can pay your deposit in advance, secure a good cabin and an early booking price, and still get a refund if you have to cancel or change more than 60 days from the sail date. That's a very reasonable timeline to know what your schedule will be, IMHO.

This is true of all the cruiselines!! If you cancel for any reason, before final payment is due, you will get a full refund.
