No seat assignment on Northwest?

I was trying to book airfare on Northwest from IND to MCO. We are flying at the end of October. It is not letting me pick my seats, saying it is more than 90 days out.

Has anyone had experience with booking on Northwest more than 90 days out? At 90 days can I call, or go online and change my seat assignments if I want?

I believe at 90 days you may call and make a request. I remember that last year when my hubby and I went. My travel agent, my mom, had done the seats but had to wait to request them.

If you book online you will be able to select your seats online at 90 days out.. however, if you call and book over the phone you can only make a request and NWA will make the seat assignment for you... we always book online just so we can make our own seat selections.

Yup, 90 days. I had the same thing and when it 90 days out, I logged on and picked out our seats. BTW, this is slightly different than shortly after 9-11. IIRC, in 2002, they wouldn't let you pick out your seats at all if you booked online. I was glad to see they changed that. I hate assigned seating. One time, I actually paid a higher fare on a different airline that did allow one to pick their seats. (P.S. I love the window seat; much more entertaining.)

If it is too early to select seats, book anyway. You may select seats when the time comes (90 days in advance for Northwest).

Check back periodically after selecting seats. Sometimes if there is a schedule change, even by a few minutes, your seat selections may be lost and also some airlines require that you phone in rather than use the internet on line to (accept the rescheduling and/or choose alternate flights and)reselect seats.

Definitely jump on at 90 days. I've flown Northwest 4 times this year for business and rarely can get an advance seat assignment, I usually book about 3 weeks before. They reserve the front section of coach for their elite flyers. I jump on 24 hours before to do online check-in to get a seat, they release some seats then. It's only me, so I don't have to worry about getting seats together.

I would definatley set an alaram to jump on at 90 days for seat assignment. Our favorite airline in MN will divide seats among a reservation. I would make a follow up call immediately after booking to make sure seats are together. I'm an NWA Platinum elite member and still have seat assignment problems.
