If any one has had business with a Mr. Chambers could you email me or reply on this site. Thank You

There was a thread a few months ago about someone with that same name but it was deleted. I don't think we are allowed to name names on the Dis. I tried searching for it but the search function is down.

Hope everything turns out alright. Maybe if you gave some brief information someone here might be able to point you in the right direction.

I am sure that this thread will be deleted, but I had to reply. I am not positive of the meaning of this thread, but if it is what I think it is, IT MAKES ME SICK! Just wanted to say that most people that rent points through the Dis site ARE NOT SCUM. It is unfortunate that some are.

A bit of info on my situation...In late July I began looking on the trade site. My hope ...a short trip to celebrate a bday....travelers, daughter, daughter-in law, myself... saw 5.00 points for delux hotels....all of the fam has dvc membership ie always stay at dvc resorts... delux - big thrill... called seller after email and get good feeling...nervous but sent cashier check... recieved back confirmation # ...but no official disney slip.... called reservations and they comfirmed res in my name... date arrives and we arrive at akl at 12:30am... res cancelled day before...seller gave up dvc membership...no room in the inn...or anywhere else... caribean beach had a smoking room or suit at yc...not prepared for that...cb smoking..put nights on plastic...embarrased,upset, mad...got home and call seller....got a line you could hang your wash on but a promise of money...two months later no mun and a disconnected phone number...was told others were in the same predicament... wish I could warn them...we were adults...what about a family!.....This web site offered my hubbie( quad with ms) the hope of a few extra visits to our favorite place but after this I don"t know what to think... What if he had been with me!!!! thanks for your intererst...if anyone out there thinks the story could be theirs please check... wdw is far too wonderful a destination to have even the smallest of problem....

Very sorry :( to hear about your bad experience with that renter. It would be a positive step on the DVC Rent board to list the posters that don't have a good reputation for renting.
That would save a lot of heartache for potential future victims.

Polygranny....
Sorry to hear this. This is a sad, very unfortunate thing to happen. I agree with Nick that it's a shame there's no way to check references or something, or have a feedback forum like on eBay.
I wish you luck in getting this resolved, though it doesn't sound too hopeful right now. Hope you can manage to have a nice time at CB despite your bad experience with this particular seller.

Polygranny, that is TERRIBLE!!

I specifically remember this renter! He advertised what were basically reservation points, but he was very vague. I even sent him an email and he replied with just a phone number.
I didnt have a good feeling about him, so I never called. About a week later, people on the boards started asking questions because he was listing the same points over and over and the math was not adding up. I remember that every time he posted, the moderator would post the explanation of what Reservation Points were.
This was truly a bad apple, and I hate to hear that this person was literally preying on dissers. I would not blame you for not wanting to rent again as Im sure your experience was traumatic!

I'm not naming names but I did find a good reference thread.

Also thank you for caring enough about others to share your experience.

This is so sad. I can not believe someone would do something so awful.

Sorry this happened to you!

AS a new DVC member, this is so
upsetting to hear, but it just reassures that in life, there are bad seeds everywhere. I am so sorry for your unfortunate and costly dealings with this person. Thanks for sharing with us.

Nick's idea about posting feedback on renters sounds like a good idea, wonder if something like this could be implemented?

Polygranny: Did you use postal service, or fed ex for the check delivery? I'm not sure, but think that if you used the postal service, you might be able to lodge a complaint against Mr. Chambers for fraud involving the postal service. Unfortunately, you probably will never see your money, but it would be nice to feel something was being done. I hate that your experience occured.

Wow, I am so sorry this happened to you. I also remember seeing his posts. They were so very vague. I do hope you get some resolve.

Polygranny I am so sorry this happened to you! It makes me sick to think of what you were going through when all this was happening-looking forward to a wonderful vacation just to have it destroyed by some low life!!!

It also makes me sick that Disney can't crack down on this type of behavior somehow. I think this reflects just as poorly on them. I know it's a DVC members contract and there probably isn't much they can do, but the Disney name is still involved---they should have some kind of clearing process for rooms that are being rented. Perhaps if two names are on a ressie both would be needed for cancellation within thirty days prior to check in?

I don't know. I'm just so sad to hear this.

1) It is unfortunate this happened to you.
2) Alas, there ARE bad people out there.
3) Hope your next vacation turns out better.

I am SO sorry this happened. What a mess. I hope this does not ruin future vacations for you, or the possibility of renting and trading on this Board. Just as a matter of caution to future renters/rentees: I know it is hard on the newbies, but I would not engage in transactions with posters who have few postings recorded. You have no history to determine if this person has been around a while (renter had about 15 posts - all dealing with renting).

If a deal sounds to good to be true, it probably is. (sigh)

NCRedding,
That is a very good tip.
I am not sure about the facts of this case and you are right, it may not be under USPS jurisdiction. If it is a case of a dispute over the terms or an agreement--then they don't get involved. However, if Mr. Chambers was seeking to defraud as many people as he could, and the payment was sent by mail, then maybe the USPS would be an excellant place to file a complaint. If Mr. Chambers provided Polygranny with a member number, there may even be a way to track him down.

I looked up the web site for Mail Fraud Complaint Form:U.S. Postal Inspection Service Mail Fraud Complaint Form

Contacts List for Mail Fraud Complaints

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Unfortunately in life there are people out there who dont care about others, and common decenty does play a role in their lives.

because of this jerk you guys are telling people not to rent from someoen unfamiliar to these boards...that doesnt seem fair to categorize every new renter like that...everyone starts somewhere and has to build thier rep as a good renter..they wont be able to do that if nobody rents from them...i have never rented on these boards but I some day I may want to..i am no dead beat and would hate to lose a possible sale because of one bad apple...from what i have read it is only 1 bad apple...i have not heard other stories of this.....

DH is an attorney and says that this guy isn't just a "jerk", he is a criminal. You are the victim of a fraud, and you should contact the police and lodge a complaint. You have a phone number, so you should be able to find the home town.

DH also looked at the property records in Orange County. There are 2 persons with this name that owned DVC units. There is 1 from MI, and he is probably the one you are looking for. He had liens placed on his unit in June of 2003 and the unit was sold back to DVC on October 23, 2003.

You can look at property records yourself at
http://www.occompt.com/2002/records.html

If you have problems send me a PM and I will send more specific info.

Best of luck to you.

You can also google the name and it comes up with a few people in Michigan. I think the person you are speaking of is from Michigan if it is the same person that is in the thread I referenced above.

I'm sorry if it is the person that had his deeds liened.

Please let us know if anything comes of this.

:(
