Saw this at Eckerds yesterday and I am very curious to know if this works. I have a DD who needs to wash her hair every single day or it gets oily. Just wondering if this might be a solution to having to shampoo in the shower every single day.

Try it. Tell her to use it twice though. You know, lather, towel dry, lather again.

The first run through with dry shampoo doesn't always get all the oils out.

I have the same issue with my dd9 - VERY greasy hair. I broke down last month and got her a 'root' perm. There is a world of difference! I love it, she takes care of it. It was worth the $$ so we don't have to go through the hair drama every day. She can even go 2 days without washing and it looks good. I never thought I would be one of the mom's that spend $50 on beauty products for their 9 year old, but I will do this every 6 months until she is 18!

I bought some for my husband when he was home after knee replacement surgery and showering was not an option until his staples were taken out two weeks later. It got the greasiness out. I was surprised that it worked as well as it did. After I would wash his hair with it we would joke that it gave him "evangelist" hair.

I bought no rinse shampoo for camping. It worked ok for that purpose. Your hair certainly does not feel the same as when you shower. It's much easier to jump in the shower. It didn't work well for my daughter. My teenage daughter also had a terrible problem with greasy hair. It kept getting worse until it was so bad it would look greasy even after washing. We tried lots of different shampoos. Some would work for a few days then the greasy look after shampooing would return. :confused3 Finally asked the lady that cuts our hair. She suggested salon shampoo. Makes all the difference :thumbsup2 To save on cost. My daughter can go back and forth between the salon shampoo and using shampoo from the store a few days a week.

When I was in High school I had very oily hair. I used baby owder. It did the same thing, but you have to make sure you brush it all out otherwise your hair looks kind of white.
I used to put on a small amount of baby powder then brush my hair with a brush that I had covered with cheesecloth. The cheesecloth collected all the oils and powder.
I read about this way back when I used to read Seventeen magazine, when the Partridge family sister was the big Seventeen model. Boy did I just date myself. Peggie

I don't know if it works, but I have seen it in featured on websites selling camp supplies. I am a member of the boards at mothering.com and others and it is very popular to not use shampoo. One of the recipes for a no-poo shampoo included herbs, essential oils, and some cornstarch. My dds sometimes use this or just plain cornstarch.

GL!

I think I'm gonna give the shampoo a try after hearing the opinions. I'm so desperate to get something that will actually work. Also, I'll ask about a root perm, I've never heard of that.

The baby powder tip I remember reading in a teen mag years ago too, but had forgotten all about it! Something else to keep in mind!

Thanks for all your responses, I feel like maybe there is some hope :)

We've found the American girl shampoo and American girl conditioner work pretty well (vanilla scented) from Bath and Body Works. It's pricey but they are having their big sale right now ending July 9th. I have noticed a big difference in my dd10 year olds hair and she tends to have the greasy build-up with other products.

It's generally for the sick/hospitalized, so my guess is it probably would only worsen things/cause new problems.
