no rides......

Some people I've spoken to who aren't as "into" Disney as I am, have mentioned that Disney didn't live up to their original expectations, but ended up exceeding them in a far better way. For example, I know a family who took their 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son a couple summers ago and they were also surprised that WDW wasn't "All Pre-K, All the Time." Apparently, this was a big surprise for them -- in a very good way! There are plenty of attractions that were age-appropriate for the young ones and just the right mix of "big-kid rides" ;) for the parents.

Chances are, the family that the OP spoke of didn't know what to expect. That's where vacation research pays off ... and that, my friends, is where the DIS comes in! :cheer2:

Well you know what they say... ignorance is bliss... ;)

OT: Saw your Alaska Ticker. Lived in Anchorage 3 years. LOVED IT. Have a great trip.

I truly cannot understand not loving Disney, but I am grateful for each and every person/family who decides not to go this August. ;) This will allow my family less crowds to deal with so that we can enjoy everything we love about Disney. I'm sure that there are many of my own family members who do not understand our yearly Disney adventure, but I am working on them. My parents are going with us in Aug for their first trip. I am soooo excited about sharing our love of Disney with them.

guess i am just mean but...

our first trip was totally unprepared..we knew we were going but that's all, knew nothing about it, stayed off site, went in July but we still had agreat time, went on all the rides...it was very hot and very busy but we still had fun...guess i have a hard time figuring out how even on a whim trip you couldn't find one thing you liked, couldn't find one ride you could go on, didn't figure out there was a parade or fireworks... unless you were determined to not like it ( had a friend like that, her idea of vacation was lay on a beach so she "knew " she would hate disney and guess what ...she did!)

My DH parents hate disney.. and I mean everything disney. He hated disney too when we were first together, but after several trips and including him in the planning he is actually becoming more and more a disney freak. Although his parents were less than thrilled when he told them we were going to disney this year without the kids. I see it as a good thing, my kids get parents that love everything disney and I get in-laws who will never want to vacation with us. ( bad me, bad me :rolleyes1 )

I hear and understand why your jaw must have dropped - here is my "clueless at WDW" story:

My aunt and uncle took my cousins down to Florida (well, actually my aunt's parents flew them down, put them up in their condo, let them use their car and paid for all the food so no cost so far for my aunt and uncle).

They had done absolutely no planning. They drove to WDW, paid for parking and when they got up to the ticket gate they decided that WDW was too expensive so they turned around and went back to the condo!

(Oh and back home my uncle drives a Cadillac and she has diamonds out the wahzoo so it's not like they couldn't have afforded it).

Disney is not for everyone and those of us who love it should be thankful for those who do not... it means a few less people in those lines for rides, shows, parades, dining, pools, etc. I know a number of people who don't understand why I love Disney. Different strokes for different folks. It leaves more magic for me!

EXACTLY! going for 11 nights (in 5 months 1 day lol) and I will LVOE EVERY SECOND of it! :cheer2:
