My DH comes home from work last night and says"Oh you would have exploded in work today" Really honey why that is so unlike me  Seems a woman took her 2 year old to the park on a whim. They flew down to visit her dad and said hey let's pop over to WDW for the day(she had never been before). So they pay- go in- and walk around. No rides!! No parades!! It was so crowded and the lines were so long that they just walked around."besides I can't take the baby on anything" :sad2:
HELLO!! Winnie the Pooh, It's a small world, the Train, Peter Pan, Dumbo ect ect... Let alone a parade or two. Ok so maybe I would have exploded, but what really got me was when she said to dh "I don't know how you could spend a week there I hated it" :faint:

Disney is not for everyone and those of us who love it should be thankful for those who do not... it means a few less people in those lines for rides, shows, parades, dining, pools, etc. I know a number of people who don't understand why I love Disney. Different strokes for different folks. It leaves more magic for me!

:sad2:
If you were only there one day how could you "hate it"? That type of attitude gets me sort of .... :furious: But hey, that's just me.

Well Duhh!!!!Oh course she hated it. She missed everything that is Disney (the rides, the parades, the fireworks and of course the magic :wizard: ) and only experianced the bad things (the crowds, the heat, the walking and the money)

I know a lady who is worse then her. One of our neighbors went to Disney with us once on a week long trip she took her DD4 into the parks twice once MK and once Seaword and at the most she stayed 4 hours. the rest of the time she tanned at the pool and twice she drove like an hour to go to the ocean. Not the most enjoyable vacation for a 4 yo :furious: :furious:

Man...

I feel bad for the children of people who hate Disney. I'm lucky my parents were Disney freaks when I was growing up.

I hear ya! My niece & her hubby took their boys 8 & 3 last June (early part of month). They would go to the parks early in the day but can't really figure out what they did when she told me they didn't have POTC pirate: when they were there. Then they would leave & go to one of the water parks or back to the hotel to nap. I don't think they saw one night time show. I don't think they saw one parade. I know they were in Epcot for some amount of time because they ate at Alfredo's but don't know if they made it to MGM. Why bother if you aren't going to do anything or see anything except your hotel and the pool? You could do that at home. :rolleyes1

hi we are from scotland and it is a long flight [9 hrs] and a lot of hard saved money so we want to make the most of every single minute of every single day what i dont understand is friends who go and spend a couple of the days at disney and then the rest of the time at their hotel by the pool. go to spain if you want that type of holiday. guess not everyone loves disney like us

23 weeks an 4 days till we get there cant wait.

imo it's somewhat the same as people who buy a one day pass and gripe how expensive it is...do some research before you go! I don't know how many people i know have done the same thing, pick a bad time to go( well our first trip was July so can i really say anything about that :lmao:? but we haven't repeated our mistake at least) have no idea what is there, buy 2 or 3 single day passes

in a way, it shows just how smart totally anal retentive crazed obsessive planning is :teeth: ;)

Honestly, that is so ridiculous! I can understand if you went on the rides and visited shows and just wasn't feelin' the magic (there are those who are untouched by pixie dust) and then say you hated the parks...but not to ride anything or experience anything.... that's money, experience, time, and magic wasted... poor kid

Seriously, not to be mean, but if you are that clueless wouldn't you at least pick up a map--they are everywhere. I would think if I were stoping at anyplace I was unfamiliar with I would be inclined to pick up a guidemap and read it.

No wonder she hated it -
she never connect with it in any way!

I don't really know why everyone is being so hard on her. I'm probably alone in saying this but I feel sorry for her. We don't know her situation or what her life is like. She went to WDW on a whim, it was a nice thought and she probably thought she'd do something fun with her child. She didn't know she'd be going there so she didn't have time to plan and probably when the idea entered her head she just ran with it and thought they'd have a ball and didn't know just how crowded it can be. When she told your DH that she hated it, that was probably the frustration coming through at being overwhelmed by the crowds etc.

I would never, ever, ever have guessed how big, crowded and complex WDW is either before I went there Yes I did a lot of planning but, in her situation, with a sudden opportunity to visit WDW you really can't blame her for not planning. It was just a whim as you say. I feel sorry for anyone who goes there on a whim. Even with all our planning I felt overwhelmed when I entered MK and didn't get half the things done that we wanted but we did love it, and the planning stood to us. I can just imagine though how frustrating it would be to enter there without a plan, on a whim and see those lines. Hopefully she'll give it a try again.

Gosh, she should have at least asked for some information when they got there about what there is to do and where it is located. There are lot's of places to go wing it and have fun but Disney is just too popular to just drop in and expect to fall right in line to the good stuff. That being said how could she not have been awe struck by seeing the castle or the rest of the cool to walk by stuff. Must not have the Disney mind set, 90% is what we make of it!

I would hate to only be at WDW for one day too :guilty:

Poor child will never get to really experience the magic. Too bad the mom didn't pick up a map or be observant. How can you not be happy there?

I think what's worse is the people who know they are going, ask for your advise, but then don't follow it and come home complaining about everything. We knew people who went and stayed at the Contemporary (he was there on a business trip...family tagged along). Her mother went at the last minute, and supposedly stayed at Caribbean Beach. I tried to offer good advise, but they would hear none of it. Came home griping about how hot it was, how crowded it was, how they couldn't get near any rides, how they were NOT going to pay for Fastpass, and how they couldn't stand having to go out to the highway just to go to Caribbean Beach. :confused3 :confused3

I asked if they were sure it was Caribbean Beach, and maybe not the Caribe Royale (I don't even know where that is, but I've heard of it, and thought maybe they had gotten confused). Nope, they swore Mom was at CBR, and that the only way to get there was to go out onto I-4. :rotfl2:

I feel bad for her, and her son... it definitely seems to me it was a whim... like, after breakfast just saying "Hey, why don't we go to WDW?" I've only been once, but I did a lot of reading up before I went and made WDW a pretty good experience overall - although I have learned a lot after the trip to make my next vacation at WDW even better. WDW is definitely not a place where you can go without any planning or without knowing what to expect. Most theme parks nowadays are all about the thrill rides - 6 Flags, Universal, etc. There are rarely any rides at those parks suitable for 2-year olds. She probably expected all the WDW rides to be the same way - scary or too intense for a toddler. You can't really blame her for being unfamiliar with WDW - maybe show her some pictures of you or your kids on the milder rides and show her that it is a great park for little kids, when you know how to do it right.

Believe it or not, there ARE people out there who are clueless as to the size, complexity, and diversity of the WDW resort. Some think WDW is the just the MK! This poor woman probably thought she was going to an amusement park and became overwhelmed.

Hopefully her bad experience won't sour her on WDW!

A co-worker of my DH was planning a WDW HONEYMOON (in August) and neither he nor his fiance had ever been. The friend told DH they were probably going to only stay for a day or two, "since they could probably see the whole thing in a couple of days" ( :rotfl2: ) and would probably wind up spending the rest of the time at the beach! They had not looked at a single travel guide book or website!! OF COURSE, I HAD TO INTERVENE!!! :yay:

I gathered up as much info as I could, stuffed it in a small tote bag, and sent it in to work with DH! After the co-worker returned to work post honeymoon, he told DH how happy they were that they had read up on WDW before they went. They stayed the whole week and had a fabulous time!

WDW is NOT a place you can just show up for and have a great time...unless you happen to luck into going on the least crowded day of the year.

When our kids were about 2, 5 and 7, we took a spring break trip to San Diego. I thought about spending a day at Disneyland. I bought the Unofficial Guide and it gave me a headache just to read it. We skipped Disneyland that year and it was a good decision. With kids that young, and working full time, I just didn't have the time to devote to planning. We went 5 years later and had a great time.
