No resort fee, $15 parking fee... Is it happening?

So they were supposed to be getting rid of the resort fee and charging those who park overnight $15 to do so starting this year... Is it happening? If so, what did it do to valet prices? Just curious!

ETA... If it is already been discussed, point me in the right direction... thanks!

don't know specifically at GCV, but at the Disneyland Hotel this weekend on points there was no parking fee. However, my friend who rented a room had a $15 parking fee and if she wanted valet it would be $7 more. I was parked in handicapped parking otherwise I would definitely upgrade for $7 if it was me.

Why didn't this hit me sooner.... we only ever stay on points so this won't affect us anyhow. I was all up in arms about it to the hub... :rolleyes1

I was wondering why they did this instead of just upping the resort fee? Any ideas?

I think people thought it unfair that they had to pay for parking (as part of the resort fee) even if they didn't have a car in the lot.

what CrazyDuck said.

I'm still surprised Disney did it though. Although thinking about it, I wonder if they are going to charge the parking fee "per car" rather than one fee per room. Because I know a lot of locals will meet at DLR from different locations and have more than one car per room. However, they didn't ask me if I had more than one car--they just asked if I had a car on property and whether I was self-parking or valet. Your room key gets you out of the parking lot, which everyone in the room would have.

I have a silly question. I think. If we do valet, do we have to do it for all the days? Like if we are staying 6 nights, can we just do valet parking for the first night and the last day (to make it easier with the luggage) and then if we take the car out a different time, then we can just get it ourselves? Ok now that I've typed that out, I'm going to guess probably not, since they probably have it in a certain spot for valet lol

you would have to take it out of valet after the first day, re-park in self parking, then re-park in valet the last day. Once you're in valet the charges for valet will continue.

I heard that the $15 fee will park 2 cars. Which seems kind of dumb, why not charge $7.50 per car?

Is the parking lot far off from the hotel? Is it worth it to valet? If it's $15 to self park and $22 for valet, that's not much higher for that service. We are only planning on leaving for one day the 6 days we are there - to go to Sea World...

I can't aswer that for you. But the parking lots are big and some are spread away from the hotels. If you drop everything at the door and then one person parks that car, it's not a big deal for me to make that walk.
