No Preferred Rooms Available Using Discount Code...Is This True?

I just called to try to get a "Preferred Room" for our December trip. Ressies have already been made using a discount code with standard room. I thought there was an error since I asked for a preferred room when I booked. I was told there weren't any preferred rooms available since I used a "code" and probably wouldn't be available to me if I called back before our trip since I used a code. Now that stinks as my DH and I were in a car accident in July and are still recovering from back/neck injuries. We walk on 2 feet but I woudn't want to be a stroller behind us. :rotfl: Does this sound right or do I need to call back?

It sounds like all the rooms in that category are already sold under the code. There are only a certain number of rooms available for discount based on what rooms need to be filled.

I booked my room in February with the 40% off room only pin. I couldn't book preferred then. They said because we were staying 18 nights and didn't have that long a stretch open.

We have been put in Mighty Ducks with pool view and first floor. Guess that is not so bad becasue we are just across from Music's Bus stop, food court etc. Close to the Music pool which is having afternoon activites too!

Guess that is the silver lining! Hope you find yours....

Call back and explain the situation and ask for a room close to wherever you want to be. They may not be able to guarantee it but if they note that it is a medical reason there is a good chance you may get it. You can also try calling the hotel directly 5 days prior to your arrival and explain that you tried to book a preferred room but none were available at that time. Explain the situation to them about your accident and ask if possible to give you a room close to (again whatever is important to you). If you are staying at the moderate or value hotels you may want to request a ground floor room

Exactly. Your situation has changed since you first made your reservation. If you had to do it over again, you would have made some special requests.

I'm sure Disney will work well with your requests now. Just as an example, this was NOT Disney but two offsite places. My husband found out two days before our trip that he would be making it in a wheelchair. Like you, he could walk but shouldn't be walking and if he did, it was painful and it was super slow. I called both places and asked for our room to be first floor for medical reasons. Not a problem at all.

Hey Debbie. Long time no see! :flower3:
If I were you I would call and explain the situation. However it may be that under the code there is nothing they can do. It is always worth asking though, even at check in if need be. I am sure they could do what they can due to medical conditions.
It could be with a different code/discount a preferred room is available. Just not with the code you used.
You could always hope that someone cancelled their preferred res in the meantime too.
I just helped a newbie WDW friend book a December room only res. Just by pure luck we were able to get ANY moderate resort room using the code for their stay. I think only because someone cancelled the room we were able to book that room today. It was not there last night!

Good luck! :wizard:

Something else to consider -- there is next to no differernce between the fartherest preferred and the nearest standard location.

Well HELLO Barb! How the heck have you been??? Good to hear from you!!! How's Blaine doing? Hmm, farthest preferred and closest standard...makes sense to me. Keeping my fingers crossed we'll get lucky.

:thanks: to everyone for your suggestions. I'm definitely going to call back to ask if they'll make a notation on our ressie about our medical conditions. Can't hurt to ask, right?
