No ponchos on Frozen

This isn't a big deal. Restaurant isn't going to kick you out for being a little wet and by the time you walk to your fancy dinner, you'll be drying off in the process.

Can you tell me how it's dangerous to wear a poncho on this ride because I really don't understand it. It's slow moving. On splash mountain where you go down a major drop you are allowed to wear one. How is that one okay but this one isn't? Really doesn't make any sense to me
Did you see what can happen to super heroes who wear capes? Imagine the danger from ponchos. ;-)

I got soaked on this. Wetter than some times I have been on Splash Mountain. There were puddles on the seat when I got on. I was in the front row on the left side. Other people who have been in this seat also have reported getting very wet. I never got wet on Maelstrom. I think people go on some rides knowing that they might get very wet. I think people go on this ride expecting to stay dry. I realize that people have reported seeing a sign warning that passengers might get wet. I, personally, did not notice the sign. I have been on the Dis since long before FEA opened, and I never noticed a post saying that I could get soaked on this ride before I got on it in March.

Someone above said a restaurant wouldn't kick you out for being a little wet. Perhaps not, but if I had gone from this ride directly to a restaurant, I would have gotten the seat wet when I sat down. The next guest at that table might not have appreciated that!

My thought of going to restaurant with wet clothes, would be the AC. Sometimes we bring a light jacket just in case the AC is set too low. To go with wet clothes would double the cooling effect.

Maybe a conspiracy to reduce demand for the ride? Only people willing to be soaked for their Anna and Elsa fix are allowed on the ride. It weeds out casual fans and people just jumping on the Frozen bandwagon so that true devotees can ride more often?

(not really looking forward to wandering around Epcot with my 4 year old dressed in her drenched Elsa costume, but it looks like that is what I'm in for... I will be sure to wear quick dry clothes and tell DH to put his camera in a waterproof bag!)

I got wet on FEA last summer. It was annoying because I wasn't expecting it. I was in the front row. I had my camera out; I was worried about it. I would have appreciated a thread like this so that I was prepared. So, OP, thanks for posting about your experience.

I'm having a hard time understanding how a poncho could possibly be a safety hazard. When it's rainy season, people wear ponchos all day long. They are making every one undress and hold their wet ponchos before getting on the ride? That seems really weird to me.

Majority of the time yes. I've been on plenty of rides at Disney where they ask people to remove their ponchos once their indoors while waiting for rides.

I'm assuming it has to do with they don't want water dripping everywhere and making the floors potentially slippery

I think there is a difference in how this ride operates versus Splash Mountain. You sit lower and the boats have lower sides. I'm sure they know about the possibility of something getting caught and are erring on the side of caution (or it happened once and they won't allow it to happen again). The thing is that this has never been a "wet ride" in the past so nobody really needed to wear ponchos. I don't know why that has changed now.

I would say don't worry about it or freak yourself out. People on this board tend to exaggerate how wet they get on rides for some reason. Like, by a lot. I used to argue with them, then I began to question my sanity or how I could have SO MUCH anecdotal evidence from myself and others to contradict them. Then I finally just realized I had to let it go and let them think what they want. I've never gotten wet on Frozen, or Pirates, and very rarely on Splash. The wettest I've ever gotten on splash was from being stuck next to the little waterfall waiting to go into the final boat scene after the drop. You might get some water on you, but you aren't going to be walking around with squishy shoes and chaffing legs.

I HAVE seen people get mildly wet on Splash to the point you might not WANT to, but it's nothing you can't deal with. Now Splash on the west coast is another story. We had a heavy boat and I was in the front. I might as well have jumped in a pool. The person behind me was almost as soaked by their back was dry. Pretty much everyone got their shoes soaked from spillover. It was a lot of fun, but it's definitely not fun to deal with afterwards.

I have gotten so wet on Splash that I looked like I jumped in the water. And there have been times where I've hardly gotten we at all. It varies greatly. Just because you haven't gotten soaking wet doesn't mean it never happens. It does.

I got splashed riding Frozen last year. It seemed to be my turn that trip to get wet because I got splashed on Pirates too. Not soaked, but on Frozen I ended up with a wet rear.

I've learned to not go on any water/boat ride if I'm not prepared to get wet.

This happened to me a couple years ago and I was drenched to the point of having to leave the park and get all dry clothes - was stuck there at that point for 10 min. - not sure why. Wasn't a happy camper!! :(
A little splashing doesn't bother me.

I'm not saying it never happens. But when I see threads with 90% of the people saying they get soaked every time, and I've ridden it dozens of times at various times of the years and never gotten wet, it's not just a matter of experiences. Many people are exaggerating or remembering it worse than it really was.

The last 2 times I rode splash couldn't have been more different. The first time I was in the back, and I don't recall getting wet at all, maybe a small splash. The second time I was sitting up front and it was like getting sprayed by a garden hose. Completely soaked. It does vary greatly!

FYI, not sure if it is a new policy or what but a few months ago my DH and I were in MK while it was raining and when we went into Pirates we were told we had to remove our ponchos to ride. There were a couple of boats that would not launch until someone removed their poncho once seated.

The ride is lousy. Bring back Maelstrom.

The DL Splash Mountain is definitely "more splashier" than the WDW version. The ride system is pretty different there though. On the plus side, the dry air of SoCal helps you dry off faster, even though it's not as hot as Florida.

I got splashed and actually was kind of shocked. My shorts were soaked and had a bag been on the floor it would have been soaked too. Thankfully my phone and watch are water proof. I'm not over exaggerating either. The only reason it caught me off guard was because this was our 6th time on Frozen and 3rd or 4th in the front row and I had never gotten even a little splash before. Of course when I was a little frustrated over being wet my fiance took the moment to point out well the sign does say you may get wet. I dried off pretty quickly so it wasn't a big deal but it did catch me as a surprise and I was glad we didn't have our better camera with us that time.

O call BS on ponchos being a safety issue. If they are, then all loose clothing should be as well, and you shouldn't be allowed on with oversized jackets, tunics with big sleeves ect. I think they are looking to reduce ride traffic here by getting you wet. Not allowing ponchos means you have to be willing to get wet to ride.
