Dson-in-law purchased a large generator on Monday and it's being delivered tomorrow..:goodvibes

Didn't get the "whole-house" generator - will do that in the future - but this one will take care of the central heat and a/c.; hot water heater; fridge; extra freezer; kitchen circuits; bathroom; and each of the bedrooms..

"Old Man Winter" can bring it on now..:thumbsup2

We have one too. Not that we get all that much in the way of storms here in NC, but there have been more than a few ice storms and they've crippled the area. At least we'll be able to run heat and water in the barn for our horses!

In this particular neighborhood/area it seems like the power goes out every time you turn around - no matter what time of year.. The last time we lost power for a couple/few days before Christmas, he was able to borrow one of the large work site generators from his boss, but he decided it was time to get one of his own..

With winter here now, I'm sure we'll lose the power quite a few times..

I would not mind getting one of these whole house generators. I have not looked into them yet, so have no idea what they go for. But yes, the power does go out here pretty often, but luckily not for long, and usually during the day while Im in the office.

Son-in-law was able to find a "whole-house" generator for $3500.. (With a discount - because he works in the field of commercial construction..) Then you have to add in wiring, switches, etc. - and if you aren't able to do the work yourself (as is my son-in-law) - you're probably looking at considerably more..

Right now there's not an extra $3500 lying around - LOL - so that's why he got the smaller one - which he will sell on Craigslist when he gets the bigger one..:santa:
