No more virtual items on Ebay

Real quick in my experience the other problem with sending the card with delievry confirmation and then meeting for the item or emailing for the code is that you can not get delivery confirmation on anything under a certain size. The envelope would have to be fairly heavily padded and then the cost of shipping could cause a loss of business anyway. Shipping has been a big consideration for buyers of all items not just VMK stuff.

As far as reporting all auctions though, unless the seller is selling fraudulent or illeagal items, I don't waste my time. It is not my job to police Ebay. Ebay has always taken the stance that they are only a venue and do not want to get involed with policing every single auction. This attempt to skirt responsibility but reap all financial benefits is one reason so many people I know do not sell anymore or at least not as much as they used to.

p.s. Please excuse any spelling errors this is not easy on my cell phone, LOL.

The Chargeback would have been from the persons credit card company, not Paypal. I have had a few of the same, I won them all. I couldnt say why you lost except maybe that CC company was a bit of a pain.

At this time, I have to say, ebay is only removing listings that are reported to them. Which I believe means that certain sellers are trying to tank other sellers. I suggest that anyone here who cares to do so, report every item they see. Of all the people who have had listings removed, most of them were all only the larger sellers like myself and a few others.

Well I have no idea how you won your cases against the credit card companies/pay-pal if you didn't have proof the item was actually delivered to the buyer. I just know pay-pal took our money and we had a negative in our account thus any monies that were to go back into our account were immediately seized by pay-pal. Also all of the other sellers that were ripped off ( we are talking in $100's of dollars here since some of the items were Inferno's) lost their cases also since no proof of delivery for the items could be shown.

Proof of delivery has nothing to do with it. My auctions always stated local pickup anyway so, ther eis no shipping to be had. Paypal does not even look at that. What happened in the other sellers cases is that they were paid with stolen accounts.

This was in my Comcast News a few minutes ago http://gameinvasion.comcast.net/gam...092400277_ebay_stops_selling_virtual_property

Looks like it will pertain to all online games not just VMK. How they're going to enforce this I have no idea. Perhaps add virtual property to the things on the forbidden list. It's too bad that some corrupt sellers & buyers ruined things for everyone else but unfortunately that's the case in many things throughout life.

Stacey, why would the envelope have to be heavily padded to get delivery confirmation????
I mail letters in regular envelopes with return receipt requested all the time and never have I had to use a padded envelope:confused3

After reading that, from what it says you can still sell the cards with or without codes. Since they are not virtual but actual real cards.

Ok now I'm confused. There's currently 294 VMK items for sale on Ebay. Many of them are the actual virtual objects, not the cards. Are we supposed to go through and click "report" on each one every single day?

Anyone who does this, I would hold in the same high regard with which I would hold a person who walks down the street and checks parking meters, so as to call over the meter maid to give the criminal his ticket.

Return receipt and delivery confirmation are two different things. With delivery confirmation the envelope has to be at least 1/2" (or is it 1"?) thick. There is no required thickness for return receipt....return receipt also costs more.

Interesting considering I sent out 3 pieces of paper in a single #10 envelope with *only* Deliver Confirmation requested just this past Tuesday. The post office had no issues with it.

From www.usps.gov:

"You can use Delivery Confirmation with:

First-Class Mail® Parcels - Envelopes and small packages weighing 13 ounces or less. Applies only to boxes or envelopes measuring at least 3/4” at thickest point."

" Postcards, letters, and large envelopes can be sent using First-Class Mail®. It may also be used for advertisements and lightweight merchandise. The weight limit for First-Class Mail is 13 ounces. For heavier items, use Priority Mail.

First-Class Mail includes:

You are lucky...my post office actually pulls out a ruler to measure thickness.

I've heard that putting a couple of packing peanuts in the envelope "puffs up" a first class envelope to the required 3/4 inch!

I've been selling items on eBay for years now. At one time I was a PowerSeller. eBay has something called the VeRO system. A company can sign up with eBay and have a representative or group of representatives look over auctions to verify if they are authentic and legal. Neopets did this after people started selling accounts. It was their right.

Once I was selling an autographed baseball and the auction was cancelled. A VeRO rep. told me their team looked it over and said it was a fake. (I don't know, it was at a yard sale) but that's the type of things that they do. They are Verified Rights Owners reps.

If VMK got sick of pixels being sold on eBay and decided to invest in a VeRO representative, that was their right. eBay didn't take the auctions off. They have no rights to determine whether something is legit or not. They are only an auction house and can't possibly know about every item they sell. Only a Verified Rights Owner can do that by saying "Yes, that's mine, not theirs. Remove it".

Look up VeRO under eBay: Help. You'll see.

Thats true about vero - but this isnt a vero issue.

Are there any other venues where to sell VMK items (or any other 'pixels' for that matter)?
I have a few things (including the stitch hat) that I really should sell. When it comes down to it, I need the money right now more than an item in a game. Hurts, but it's true - lol.

Does anyone know? Thanks!

I have no idea where you could sell something like that and get the same exposure as E-Bay got. I just checked and they pulled ALL virtual items that had to be traded in the game...I guess for now the only VMK items that can be sold have to be the actual cards or items that are tangible.

ok hey i like to look at ebay once in a while and see what they are selling in VMK gear but i saw this http://cgi.ebay.com/Huge-Rare-VMK-C...19QQihZ016QQcategoryZ4596QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
