I just heard that Disney is no longer going to have trick or treating at down town Disney. I don't know why, but this makes me feel sad. I know it's just a little thing, but it was a fun tradition our family had when at Disney during Halloween week.
Has anyone else heard this? I hope my source is wrong!!!

What is your source of information?

Neighbor's cousin, friend - or something like that - who works at DTD. lol. I'm hoping this is like the game of telephone where the story got messed up. I'm hoping it's wrong - i can't imagine it cost Disney that much to hand out candy.

I don't know 100%, but a local site says it is going on Sunday and Monday from 5-9pm.:confused3 Then I looked up on official site, it is not listed under upcoming special events. MMM... now I have to find the answer.

Yep, just contacted a store in DTD and it was announced that there will be no official Trick or treating :sad2:. But, some of the stores will hand out candy on their own.:thumbsup2

Great news - more cutbacks at the wonderful world of Disney. The free face painting that was included with Mickey's Halloween Party @ the MK also has been cut this year.

Grrr, do they cut back like this every year? I may not renew my AP next year. :sad1:

Why go to Disney when you have a Six Flags in your back yard. More and more they are starting to look the same.

Chip, chip, whittle, whittle...I for one am tired of the they drop just to save a few $$.

The dropped it in the hope of selling extra MNSSHP tickets.

But 10/31 usually sells out weeks in advance.

Just speculation, but maybe they expect part of DtD will be a construction zone and they don't want the extra bodies taking up space.

That is true however I would expect a lot of people (especially locals) will hold out and possibly skip a party and go to DTD for free on Halloween.

They would cram DtD with bodies from construction wall to construction wall if they knew those bodies had wallets full of money on them.

My guess is that a few years back, people came to DtD on Halloween and while the kids were trick-or-treating they saw junk they wanted, at least some reasonably high-ish number of parents indulged them and bought it.

In recent years, more families are looking for free stuff to do -- so it probably became a situation where increasingly families came, the kids went trick or treating -- but when they saw stuff they wanted, fewer parents indulged them and bought it.

I just got a text from a fellow DISer that they received a tweet about no ToT at DTD. Very sad as we have done this for the last few years. We will probably go to Sea World's.

I was there last year on Halloween, and It was a really big mess. It's too bad they are getting rid of it, but the lines were so long and you couldn't walk anywhere. People were pushy and rude, I can't imagine many people enjoyed that experience.
