No more Stanby line for A&E?

I know someone said, you are only allowed one of these fps, if you want to consider them that. But how are they monitoring that? Are they scanning bands or tickets of people who get them and keeping it in the system? Also it says "good only on the date issued", but I don't see a date on the ticket. Am I missing something??

No new info but Inside the Magic is reporting it also. http://www.**************.net/headl...n-waits-to-meet-anna-and-elsa-in-fantasyland/

My guess is it's being monitored like Frozen Sing A Long. Which is it's not. You can get more than 1 but you'd have to get back in line to get a 2nd, or 3rd, etc. A huge PITA

Maybe they are like wrist bands we get at multi-day music festivals. Each day is a different color so you can't reuse bands.

I actually suggested a fastpass only line for the Meet and Greet with Elsa and Anna at Disneyland, on another Disneyland website, and I was told this:

People don't mind standing in a long line, as long as they know that in the end they will get to see Anna and Elsa.

Like I said, "I feel sorry for the children, who have to stand that long". At least, if the rules are set forth, and people obtain their fastpass according to those rules, the children in the end know they will get their "Meet and Greet", and they won't have to wait so long.

Article in first post said something about doing this at other attractions too like Soarin'. Any word if that is happening? While I think this is pretty much the same thing as the legacy FP system, I do like it better. I totally think I would bypass getting a FP+ for A&E and just plan on getting a return ticket. That way I can use my 3 FP+ on other tier 1 attractions so it's kinda like getting guaranteed 4.

So the ticket gives you a 30 min window. What happens if you already have a fp for this time or an adr that you can't change?

Counting down to 14th May!

No Tiers at MK

Getting a FP for it is going to be easier than standing in line for a ticket. No question. I'd only go this route if you can't get a FP+. Just my opinion

I've read through the posts on this thread and have seen many posts from previous discussions of the A&E M&G. This is what I see....

With the system before today if you were lucky to get a FP+ for A&E you would know your time and get to see the two ladies. If not feel free to jump in the standby line. That line was reported to be a 5 hour wait. Parents would be standing in this line for hours with their children so they could spend 5 minutes with A&E.

With the new system today you can still be lucky to get a FP+ for A&E. If not you go to the standby line but instead of waiting physically for 5 hours you can get a nice piece of paper that tells you to come back at the time which is five or six hours later and you will be able to see &E with a minimal wait.

Why is the new system a problem? Who would rather stand in a line for 5 hours with the child instead of getting a piece of paper and coming back later? I'm sure if Disney polled the children who left the A&E meet after their 5 hour wait they would not say they would do it all again if they had the chance. Disney has applied a fix to the ridiculous standby line that formed due to the popularity of the characters. I don't see how that shows a failure of the FP+ system. If you step back and look at it, standing in line for 5 hours to meet these characters is not really very fun and I'm sure Disney does not want all these little kids having that memory of their 2014 trip to WDW.

At the Frozen Sing A Long you can get a different time. I have to think this will work at A&E but guess we won't know till we have a 1st hand report. The only time you'd be stuck is if it's the only time there are passes left

Because if you don't get an FP for them (difficult at best) or one of these "passes" (only available for a couple of hours in the morning), then you don't see them at all. Not my business if someone else wants to wait 3 hours or more, but that's their choice.

Someone on another board eluded that this might be the new norm on 7DMT coming sooner than you think as well.

Ahh..yes...I shouldn't have said tiers. I know there aren't any at MK...what I meant was more of a headliner. If I can FP+ Space, Mine Train and Peter Pan and know that I can get a return ticket for A&E, I think I'd do it. Obviously everyone will have a different opinion on best approach.

Yep.

Besides the Oklahoma Land Rush this causes at RD, it's a de facto, 100% reservation system.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck.......

This is also my argument about why it should not be implemented for rides. If someone wants to do nothing but ride Soarin 6 times in a day, and is willing to wait 6 hours to do so, more power to them, they should have that option.

Wow. Those are some pretty fancy paper Fastpasses. If only we had a system like that for all of the other attractions :rotfl2:

Seriously though, why are they doing this? Why not just make A&E 100% FP-Plus?

I guess because this is a mix that tries to suit the most?

Few can get FP+
Few can stand by
Few can get return passes for the future

While far from perfect, at least it shows them trying to find a solution. Maybe?

I hear it's to ramp up on paper usage and destroy more trees. ;)

That would mean no one staying off site would ever get a chance to see them. Considering they are routinely already sold out at 12:01am at your 60 day mark, you'd never have any left at the 30 day mark.
